  1. Well, excellent, as the the issue has been pinpointed, and hopefully when the data does eventually come to light, it can be fixed. As I said, it doesn't really bother me much, since there's a simple workaround, but i thought it good to get it out there. Thanks for all your work on PokeGen, it really is an excellent program.

  2. No need to stay off the competitive battling forum, though I do request that you type in a normal sized font.

Batteries sucked. I remember when I was out of the country, visiting relatives, and such, the batteries would suck and never seem to last as long. I remember playing some of the old games while walking down streets and stuff, and not being able to see the screen, so I would spam a and walk through random caves and stuff.

In the RMT forum, or everywhere? x:

I don't know why I type so small, being that my vision is atrocious. Full size font hs just always looked so...ugly, to me.

    The first time I navigated Dark Cave, I did so without Flash. Looking back, I'm amazed that I ever found my way back out. >>;

@ Wraith: It doesn't help that I'm not very good ate strategizing. I thought I had all my bases covered with my Whimsicott/Lilligant pair, but I'm having trouble with the Battle Institute so I'm certainly not ready to take these two on wifi.

  3. I played Crystal until the internal battery ran dry, so I feel your pain. After that I had to start the grueling process of begging the adults in my family for a GBA so I could continue on to Sapphire. I remember, I ruined a chair playing my oldschool GBA. I'd lean on one of the chair arms so I could hold it under the lamp, and after months of holding that same position for hours a day, the cushion wore down and it sagged permanently.

Then I got the SP, and my life changed forever. Chargers, and backlights, and clamshells, oh my.

I've seen you around in the RMT forum, Wraith. I thought about posting there, but I'm only semi-competitive and I'm stubborn about using my favorites, so I figured I'd get driven out with torches and pitchforks the first time I tried to peddle my Whimsicott/Lilligant double battle pair to the masses. x: I miss the Battle Hall from 4th Gen, frankly, I had a fantastic double battle team of Vaporeon that cleaned the floor with anything, and now I can't use them since wi-fi and the damned Battle Subway disallow multiple Pokemon of the same species.

I originally got into the whole RAM/Legality thing just because I wanted some mostly benevolent AR codes--rename traded Pokemon, and the like. I'm really not sure how I went from that to editing and building Pokemon on PokeGen, but it happens, I guess. XP

  4. To answer your question, I don't manually edit stats, no. I input my IVs and my EVs and let PokeGen do the rest, although, like I said, there's no visible change before or after the PC so it's moot anyway.

I really, really wish I could upload my .sav for you, but I have no means to extract it. Someone had told me once I could use my ARDSi to pull my save file, but as far as I can tell, they were lying.

  5. Well, when this thread was first made it was moreso "What the hell is going on here?", so it didn't really fit in Bugs. I first just wanted to make sure I wasn't overlooking anything like personal error. I edited it to be a bit more bug report-y sometime after the fact. Plus...you kind of intimidate me, and I thought there was some special reason the Bug forums had so few threads, so I was afraid to post, I didn't want to make you mad. Mission failed, I guess.

I'm not really a code monkey so it's hard for me to make a good, solid hypothesis on this, but I really can't think of anything else that could be causing this other than perhaps a code generation issue. I've been told people who simply inject the Pokemon into their .sav files don't have this problem. One thing I did notice, is that if I generate a code, and then feed it back to Pokegen ("Extract Pokemon from code") it comes out extremely garbled, but I'm not sure if that really means anything, especially since the codes all work just fine, the potential party bug aside.

  6. I've actually been around for a little while now--I joined initially for the RAM and Legality forums, which are excellent resources--but I've found I like the place overall and should consider wandering out from the lands of legal vs legit every now and then, and that being the case, the least I could possibly do is introduce myself.

Call me Envi. I started playing Pokemon when I was 10. My first game was Gold, and I racked up about 600 hours before Crystal came out. Those of you old enough to remember when battery power was actually finite should appreciate this more than the children these days, spoiled with their AC-chargers-come-standard lifestyle. I remember when the only indicator of a low battery was a dimming power indicator light and every time you saw it paling in the corner of your little prepubescent eye, you died just a little bit inside, because you knew you'd soon be begging, borrowing, and stealing from the remotes for fresh batteries.

Nice to be here, ya'll. :P

  7. The problem is that you have set the dreamworld extra byte in it.

Does that Lilligant? Mm, I must have forgotten to switch it after making a DW Espeon.

Regardless, that's not the cause, as this Whimsicott does the same thing, and it has a normal DW byte. Furthermore, putting it into the PC wouldn't reset the Trash Byte anyway so if that did invalidate a Pokemon--which it didn't--putting it into the PC wouldn't fix it. Whatever the problem is, it's something that's stored only for party Pokemon, and is reset or recalculated when placed in the PC.

Incidentally just to prevent any further confusion over the actual cause of the problem, I replaced the attached .pkm in the first post with another Lilligant with a properly set Trash Byte, as well as a newly generated code. As can be expected, this Lilligant also suffers the strange dual legality issue.

  8. You're not going to get a Lv. 9 Legendary that wasn't RELEASED at Lv. 9 or below (i.e. the Sinnjoh Ruins dragons) through wi-fi. The check is surprisingly sturdy, it covers all illegal Pokemon/Level scenarios from what I can tell.

You'd think, as much as they put into making sure illegal can't get into wi-fi, they'd make it impossible to request illegal Pokemon too.

  9. I use Pokegen 3.0b23 to create Pokemon, and then an ARDSi to insert them into my team on a retail Black version. When generating a code, I use a party count of three, and the Select button as an activator when generating the code. I always have a team of three on my file when inserting the Pokemon; the first--a junk Pokemon--get erased, while the other two are known wi-fi legals. This way I can immediately check wi-fi legality without having to fiddle around with swapping Pokemon in and out of my box. for example, I might start off with Pidove, Meinfoo, and Whimsicott. After activating the code, I would be left with Lilligant, Meinfoo, Whimsicott.

I have noticed, consistently and without fail, that when I create a Pokemon in Pokegen, even when by all accounts the .pkm file is legal, the resulting Pokemon fails wi-fi legality checks. However, if I deposit it into the PC, and then withdraw it again, the Pokemon will then pass legality checks, meaning whatever was wrong with it is being reset or recalculated by the PC.

I don't know what values are stored only for party Pokemon, but inevitably one of them is off whenever I generate a Pokemon through an AR code. I've included a .pkm of a Lilligant created from scratch in PokeGen, as well as the AR code generated by the program, and used to place it in my game. This, like every over Pokemon I have created for Gen V, suffers from the apparently flawed party data upon creation.

  10. refering to the IV/PID thing....well it is way much easier to go over Pokesav because there is a PID/IV checker that was introduced in Platinum edition and is since there aviable in every new Version....in order to make them LEGAL....YAY! :D

ah....now i see what you mean....well try to use the code i got from gbatemp:

for black and hit L on trainercard (maybe before opening the card?)...then flip card...and it should be shown up(either money or ID)

I figured out that if I put my Pokegen'd Pokemon in the PC and then take them out, they become legal. I suspect there's a minor error in the AR code generated by Pokegen that's affecting something that gets reset by the PC, but I'm not sure what. I posted a thread in RAM Editing Help to see if a nice code monkey could spot a discrepancy in one of my Pokegen codes, not really to fix it, since the PC will do it, but simply because I'd like some answers.

  11. I've encountered a strange occurrence with Pokegen and Gen V. No matter what, when I make a Pokemon, regardless of actual legality, when I generate an ARDSi code for it and then insert it into my party, it fails to pas wi-fi. HOWEVER, if I deposit it into the PC and withdraw it, it will then pass the wi-fi check. I'm not sure what's causing it (escape sequence issues maybe?), but if anyone is having a serious issue with passing wi-fi using Pokemon with absolutely no noticeable flaws or illegalities, you may want to try depositing and withdrawing it from the PC, especially if you're using an AR to insert it into the game.

Also, if anyone could explain to me why this is occurring for me, I'd love them forever.

  12. thanks....i am the awsome soul...with the 999x items code! :D

well....allykat got a code to re-obtain the starters....just pick her xml and add it to your codemanager!

for the SID....what code is it exactly?

It's in her XML, you can go find it. I'd do it myself but I'm wrestling with Pokegen.

The claims that PID and IVs are unrelated in Gen V is false, I think. I've found that Pokegen'd Pokemon with manually selected IVs are rejected by wi-fi, but Pokemon that use the PID generator's IVs are accepted--IVs are literally the ONLY difference between the test Pokemon I use. Baffling.

:P Thanks for the item code, mister awesome. you rock~.

  13. normaly it should....allykat tested that codes.....and well....you only modify the look for you....in pokedex a hatched non-shiny will be non-shiny....so it is better doing it before egg hatches....well....i hope they will create an all poke shiny code which includes eggs, event/legendary and fossil ones (well....some legendary ones like the forrest trio or kyurem appear shiny....but others like zorua, tornadus and thundrus appear standart with the current shiny wild poke code, while Zekrom, Reshiram, Victiny and Zoroark let the game freeze with code on)!

Yeah, I've used the current Wild Shinies code. I'm not big on editing for shinies as it sort of takes the fun out of them for me, but I had a few legit shinies I needed to tweak for nature and stats, but I'm having one hell of a time getting PokeGen to work, I think the codes are too long for my ARDSi. I thought I' just catch and hatch shinies to replace the legits but it's too much damn trouble for codes that may not pass legality as is. I got Pokegen to work, albeit one Pokemon at a time, so I'm not in a massive hurry to get a decent shiny code, although it'd be nice, especially since the Mark for Shinies code crashes my game. (It worked, but when I went to check the status of the Pokemon afterwards tthe screen went black and the game stopped responding.) It MIGHT have been because I had L/R EV/IV checker code on too, but I can't be arsed to go back and test again.

    Other codes I'm interested in:

    - A code to reclaim the starters.

    - A WORKING SID code. AllyKat's semi-freezes my game; everything goes black but the music continues to play.

    - A code to set the whole Pokedex as SEEN, including all forms, but without setting them as CAUGHT and without altering the CAUGHT status of legitimately owned Pokemon. Tall order, I know.

Also, if anyone's interested, I have a PROPER All Items code, with the Griseous Orb and without the 900x Liberty Passes. Sadly I can't take credit, some awesome soul Pokesav'd it for me, but it works, and works well.

  14. I missed the Wi-Fi event for the shiny Raikou, and I'm a bit of an obsessive collector, so I really need this specific Raikou. I've found codes for the Movie 13 version of this Pokemon, but not for the version released over Wi-Fi last week.

Also, if anyone has a code for the WIN2011 Celebi, that'd be stellar too.
