Turns out this is happening with my copy of Ruby too

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I’ve been trying to transfer a couple pokemon from Crystal to emerald and I can’t seem to receive them? It says everything is going through okay but when I talk to the old man in sootopolis he doesn’t say anything other than his normal dialogue…
