Hi, folks.
I'm a Latin teacher and a life-long Pokémon fan. Due to that, I'm thinking of translating Pokémon Emerald into Latin. However, I don't know anything about ROM hacking.
So, I need your help. I'd like to know how I can edit the text of the game and if there any tutorials I could check. Also, if there's anyone who could volunteer to help me, I would greatly appreciate.
I understand this will be a lot of effort, but I'm willing to learn and try this. I just need some direction on how to get started. My idea is to translate moves, names of Pokémon, names of towns, items and text, as well as any other thing that can be translated.
By the way, I choose Emerald because there's already an on going translation of it in the subreddit: r/pokemonlatine. But if there's an easier game to work in, please inform me! I'd appreciate an easier project, so maybe I can do this with other Pokémon games (as well as other games) in the future.
Also, if there's anyone who's already doing it, besides the subreddit that I just mentioned, please reach out in my DM. It'll be easier to join forces with someone. Every bit of help will be welcome.
