  1. Thanks again @theSLAYER I just moved it to Bank and it does have the JPN tag. Sorry for the confusion this thread might have caused. I hope you can see where I was confused myself with the info I read. But I got my little blue boy safe and sound now
  2. That is excellent news then! I actually didn't try moving up to Bank yet and then onto a Gen 6 game because I was under the assumption that gen 4 and gen 5 games has language tags from what I have read online but of course not everything we read online is true. As for the nickname thing, I only used the letters available on my Japanese emerald cart. The Mew didn't go thru PKHex and tbh I'm ignorant as to how to use PKHex lol so nothing of that nature. Just me misinterpreting some info. What I read was that they introduced different language pokedex entries and I have the link for the info I found. And with this it made me believe that I was supposed to see language tags starting in gen 4 https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Foreign_Pokédex_entry#:~:text=Foreign Pokédex entries are a,Pokémon in nine different languages.
  3. Fair enough, I'd love it if you took it on and got some confirmation for it, so thanks for looking into it. I'm scratching my head and definitely dont want to burn more money on Japanese B2/W2 if I don't need to
  4. Convinced about what exactly? I can document the trade between JPN Emerald and English emerald and then the trade up to HG/SS EDIT: I also ordered a JPN SS copy to see if the JPN tag shows up when I trade between ENG SS and JPN SS. Should be here by next week
  5. I actually used the live view on Google translate to help me get thru the Japanese emerald game so it's definitely possible even if you don't speak Japanese. So when i got to a key character I'd just open the camera app in Google translate and let it translate. Even though the translations were pretty poor lol. The nice thing about the Japanese games is they're way cheaper than the US versions. So it won't entirely break the bank to try them out for some of the exclusive events
  6. As for the legality aspect I have no clue. I've read that you can trade an English old sea map Mew up to Home without issues. But I'd really like to keep the JPN tag which is why I created this thread to figure out the best/cheapest way to do it without PKhex by using original cartridges. I just don't know if I need Japanese B2/W2 to complete the handoff into Poke transporter to maintain that jPN tag. Sorry if I'm repeating myself alot. Just trying to be thorough
  7. To be fair I nicknamed my Mew as "Mew" in my Japanese game because they do have English characters for nicknames, but you only get a handful of character spaces. Same with the trainer name so I also named my trainer "Ash" so I can't say for sure if you had the original Japanese Mew name and a Japanese trainer name that it would revert to English. But when I did trade my Japanese Mew to my English emerald and then up to HG, it appeared as a native English pokemon without a JPN language tag in the summary section. And then in pokemon W2 it doesn't have the JPN designation either. So it appears to be English to those games. Which throws me off
  8. Sorry in advance if this is redundant but I wasn't able to find anything that specifically addressed this in detail. I did the Old Sea Map Mew on my Japanese emerald cartridge. I did the runaway method to shiny hunt it. After catching the Mew, I traded to my English emerald cartridge so I can trade up to my gen 4/5 games then to Bank. But upon doing so I realized that my Mew doesn't retain the Japanese language tag at all and my gen 4 and gen 5 games see it as an English Mew. My question is, how exactly do I maintain that Japanese tag to trade it all the way into Bank and then Home? I've come to the conclusion that I definitely need a copy of Japanese heartgold/soulsilver or Japanese D/P/PL. But do I then also need a copy of Japanese pokemon B2/W2? Let's say I migrate old sea map Mew from my Japanese emerald cartridge to a Japanese HG/SS cart, then trade that Japanese Mew to my English HG/SS cartridge, will the Mew then retain the Japanese language tag at that point as i trade it up to Pokemon Bank? Or do I need to further migrate from Japanese HG/SS to a Japanese B2/W2 cartridge for it to retain the info? Thank you in advance!
