Would this be legal?

Okay, so this is kinda *intense*... I needed an adamant scyther for a bulletpunch scizor, so I asked a buddy and he gave me one. Then i find out that he hacked its nature (to adamant) and gender (to male), though it was legitimately caught. Would this still run as illegal in a tourney? and if I bred off a new scyther, would THAT ONE be legal?

unless he altered the ivs to fit the new pid or used a code to make wild pokemon a certain gender and nature then it would be illegal, but if you bred a new scyther that would be completely legal

So basically, unless he altered IV's / ID's it would be fine? Because he caught it legally... to be honest, I am SO confused...

he changed the nature to adamant and the gender to male. he either did that with a code he used to encounter it or after he caught it. if he used a code before he encountered it then it is perfectly legal, if he changed it after he caught it then it most likely is not legal.
