Hydration6555 Posted Saturday at 06:22 PM Posted Saturday at 06:22 PM So I have a hacked Switch, and with the recent releases of FireRed and LeafGreen I figured it would be a great time to inject my LeafGreen save that I completed last summer. The good news is I was able to just take my save file and rename it to what the save file from the Switch version was called and it was all good. Now the thing is I want to take my FireRed file from my Switch and make the Squirtle I chose shiny. However, I came across a thread from a dataminer that says Nintendo is taking telemetry on the Switch copies. Now I have never had any issues with editing saves in the past, so if games such as Scarlet/Violet or ZA took telemetry then based off my experience with that it should be fine. So aside from that the next thing I wonder is if editing the save will somehow have an impact on stuff such as the guy giving you all the event tickets after beating the elite four. I was just wondering what everyone's thoughts were on this. 1
mchicon Posted Monday at 02:31 AM Posted Monday at 02:31 AM Hey! I saw that you mentioned you were able to just rename your save file to match the Switch version. Could you explain exactly how you did that? I tried something similar but couldn’t get it to work. What steps did you follow?

What steps did you follow? Yeah so here are the steps I took: The first thing that must be done is to get a save from FR/LG. Just simply start the game, name your person and rival whatever, and as soon as you get into the world just save. The next step is to go into the Switch Homebrew Menu and go to your save managing app (either JKSV or Checkpoint, which is what I personally use) and go to your game, then make a backup of that save. For ease in locating this save later, I would name it something like your character name or something, but that's up to you. After that, you need to go into USB File Transfer app, then hook your Switch up to your PC. You go into SD card, into the "switch" folder, then you should see a folder with your save manager app's name (in my case Checkpoint), then you go to the "saves" folder, and you should then see a bunch of hexcode strings and game names. You are going to have to find the folder for your game (which the Pokemon games typically don't have a name next to them so they can be a bit harder to find), then you should just see a folder named after the backup we made earlier. You go in that folder and you should see your save (either "FireRed_e.sav" or "LeafGreen_e.sav"). Now you can delete the save file you see there and drag your save you plan on importing over into this folder. Make sure to rename the file to the previous file name (As seen above in the quotation marks). From there you just disconnect your switch from the PC, go back into your save manager and find the game, and simply hit "Restore". If you followed everything exactly, you should see your save data that you imported once you get past the starting screen. 1
SantaCrab Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago (edited) Quote if games such as Scarlet/Violet or ZA took telemetry They do. All of the switch games do. https://fxtwitter.com/meatball_132/status/2027821668068970622?s=46 That same dataminer stating they did not intend to fear monger everyone.
