Help - crash/lockup when whiting out

for some reason, every time I white out in my pokemon fire red rom hack, one of 2 things happen.

 

1. a lock happens and i can't move.

2. the slot machine opens and then the game will crash.

 

Please help, I've been working on this for probably days. It's binary and I'm willing to send a patch if needed. Thx
