So I have a bootleg emerald and a genuine emerald, alongside the "GB Operator" which allows me to download my actual save files from the cartridges onto my pc. My genuine emerald came with a dry battery, so I performed a clean new battery installation myself as I thought that was what was stopping me from importing my bootleg save.

I then tried importing my bootleg save into an emulator and it just wasn't loading. I've read on some other forums that because some bootlegs (mine as well) don't have a battery they save someplace else? Which is why it isn't working?

Essentially I just want some questions cleared up and some help with transferring my bootleg save to my genuine cart. When I put my genuine emerald into GB operator it says "non-rewritable", why is this? and is there a way to change it so it can be re-written, but I firstly have to figure out how to get my bootleg save file.

Any help is appreciated.

Expand

some pirated cartridges save the .sav in the ROM, you need to extract the ROM and use this program to see your save.
and then export it to your Original cartridge
