Having Trouble Patching the Ice Move Range Bug for a Rom Hack

Using xdelta, I started by patching the vanilla rom with the Explorers of Fortune rom hack: https://hacks.skytemple.org/h/fortune

I then tried to create a modpack with Sky Editor, but I could not create a project under the directory.

Reversing that order, I attempted to apply the ice move range patch on the vanilla rom first then patch the output rom with the Explorers of Fortune rom hack. This resulted in the following error: target window checksum mismatch: XD3_INVALID_INPUT.

Let me know what I am doing incorrectly or if this is possible in the first place.
