Pokémon Y Save File Corrupted After Adding Event Pokémon

So I was adding some event mon to my Pokémon Y Save file so that i could have them in game as trophies. My original save file works perfectly. I use Checkpoint to backup and restore the files, but when I restored the file with the events I got the save data corrupted message in-game. I don't know if this is because of the Pokémon on the file or something else. I have previously used checkpoint to restore files with added event mon on them. Turns out I'm stupid and didn't save the .sav file so I restored a blank file...
