Guest White Canary Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 (edited) According to this post, when breeding a male and female of the same species in SM, the offspring can inherit either parent's Poké Ball. If this is true, it should mean that Pokémon with their hidden abilities can be bred in Safari and Sport Balls (as well Apricorn Balls for Pokémon that can't be ally chained in SM and Beast Balls for non-Alolan Pokémon found with the QR Scanner) by breeding a male in the desired ball with a HA female, yet PKHeX still marks these as illegal. I've been asking around and haven't gotten anybody else to verify this yet, but it should be easy to test and update PKHeX if it checks out. And if it does, also check if it works with Nidoran and Volbeat/Illumise (I'm guessing no since they're separate species, but it's worth a shot). EDIT: Onix in a Safari Ball is also incorrectly reported as legal. Neither Onix nor Steelix appears in the Safari Zone in any game. Never mind. Edited November 17, 2016 by White Canary

Huh, I checked two different sites (one of which was Bulbapedia's own page on Onix) and neither one of them had it listed. My bad. Actually there are seem to be a few Pokémon found in the Johto Safari Zone that don't list that on their Bulbapedia pages. And of course I can't add it or even tell a mod to add it because the whole site (including the talk pages) is locked down "to coordinate efforts for the release of Pokémon Sun and Moon" (read: to stop people who actually have the game from adding correct up-to-date info while the people with editing privileges sit on their asses and do nothing for two months straight). Why am I not surprised? >_>
