[GUIDE] How to use a custom X/Y/OR/AS save without additional hardware using homebrew (9.0-9.9)

Sorry if this is the wrong forum!

Prerequisites:

  • At least one of the following games/apps: Cubic Ninja, Ironfall: Invasion and YouTube/Cubic Ninja (more convenient than just YouTube/Cubic Ninja), YouTube
  • Obviously a Generation 6 game :rolleyes:
  • PkHex
  • Save Manager

Guide:

  1. Extract Save Manager.
  2. Follow the instructions for your software at http://smealum.github.io/3ds/.
  3. Once you are in the Homebrew Launcher, use the stylus to scroll until you find "ftBRONY." Double-tap it. Once the top screen is blue, continue.
  4. Connect to your 3DS using FTP (guides). The port and hostname/URL/IP are on the top screen and it is an anonymous connection.
  5. Upload Save Manager to your 3DS in the "3ds" folder on the root (not in any folders) of the 3DS.
  6. Disconnect your client.
  7. Close ftBrony by pressing B twice (on the 3DS)
  8. If your game is physical, insert it now.
  9. Once you are in the Homebrew Launcher, use the stylus to scroll until you find "Save Manager." Double-tap it. Select your game with the D-pad and A. Once it loads (black screens with text on the top one) continue.
  10. Press A, once it finishes press X.
  11. Follow steps 3 and 4 again.
  12. Download the SaveDataBackup directory to an easily-accessible folder.
  13. Disconnect your client.
  14. Copy SaveDataBackup to a safe location. If anything goes wrong, you can restore it.
  15. Open PkHex.
  16. Go to File > Open.
  17. Change PKX Files to All Files.
  18. Open the main file inside where you originally downloaded SaveDataBackup.
  19. Make your changes.
  20. Go to the SAV tab and then press Export SAV.
  21. Replace the file you opened.
  22. Close PkHex.
  23. Follow steps 3 and 4 again.
  24. Delete SaveDataBackup on your 3DS.
  25. Upload the new one.
  26. Disconnect your client.
  27. Repeat step 9.
  28. Press B, once it finishes press X.
  29. Press START and confirm.
  30. Open your game.
  31. If it works, your done! Otherwise, post a reply in this thread.
