Zebraeata
So on the forum there is a sort of mini guide to editing the arm9.bin file in DS pokemon games to change the shiny rate. I've been trying for several days and can't seem to get everything working First of all if I leave the arm9.bin decompressed with the edit everything works greaton desmume, the problem is my flashkards (cyclods, r4) have issues loading uncompressed files due to them thinking they're compressed. basically decompressing an decompressed file. So the main problem has been trying to figure out how to edit the arm9 then compress it again with no issues. So the things I've tried are: non patched and freshly patched rom unpacking, extracting arm9.bin, decompressing, editing, compressing again, reinsert, repack using dsbuff(or dslazy) and CUE's Blz.exe. After running tests with this even if I dont edit the arm9 file at all the simple act of decompressing and recompressing that same file immediately makes it white screen on startup I have also tried padding the bin file so that instead of the 459kb or whatever that blz turns it into I padded it out to the exact byte amount of the original(around 462) and that also did not change the white screen When I was doing work arounds with the same method using crystaltile I got a big further(though it was super inconvenient) in that it only hangs when going into a pokemon's summary screen. When I was using dsbuff/dslazy methods using desmume the rom always stopped at white screen. When I used whatever crystaltile2 method I can't remember the rom seems to be working fine on Desmume and does not hang at the pokemon's summary screen. Only on my flashcard does it do that. I've been in the irc channel trying to figure things out but so far what everybody has suggested hasn't done anything. Any help would be great, thank you!
