TOT COMICS Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Hello everyone, I am currently messing around with save game manager trying to backup my Soul Silver version, but I have run into an unusual problem. Whenever I try to backup my file it gives me a warning on my DS saying that it "could not write to your ftp server" and then says something along the lines of "perhaps you didn't enable write access?". However, I have enabled write access and I have everything set up properly (my DS and PC do make a connection). At first I just thought the problem was Windows 7's "Block everything so nothing can hurt me" approach to security, however after completely disabling my firewall the problem persisted. I am completely out of ideas on how to let this program write save files to my PC, as I have no idea why it can't write. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so can it be resolved? Here is something that may be connected to this problem: When my DS tries to connect to smallftpd it shows up in the smallftpd window for about a second and then dissapears, my DS also normally doesn't list any directories (however sometimes it does). Is it possible that my computer is blocking the connection? Here is what I'm working with if that helps: DS Lite Cyclo DS Evolution flash card smallftpd 1.0.3-fix save game manager 0.3.0 save game manager 0.2.4 Beta (It doesn't give me an error message, it just freezes when trying to write a file.) Windows 7 OS I am trying to use the Wi-Fi method to transfer files, as I do not own a fancy schmancy 3 in 1 thing-a-ma-bob. Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.
TOT COMICS Posted March 10, 2013 Author Posted March 10, 2013 Never mind everyone I got it. I was able to fix the problem by disabling my firewall, enabling FTP Service, and then opening ports 21 and 20. I'm sure that if I had used my Windows XP the only thing I would have needed to do was turn off my firewall. Why does Windows 7 need to be so elaborate... Sorry to bother you all.
