[HELP] I'm New To PokeGen Need some support/advice

okay lets get this straight, I am NEW to Everything about pokegen

and i have several questions about the way it works and how to actually use it for [Pokemon Black/White]

1st Q. My 2 roms (patched) that i have installed when playing create 2 files a ".sav" file and a ".sa2" file, what's the difference and is it meant to create a ".sa2" file from the game?

2nd Q. When i go to open either files in PokeGen if i open the ".sav" file non of my pokemon show up in the program, BUT if i load/open the ".sa2" file it shows my pokemon, why is that?

3rd Q. Is their a tutorial that i can follow for getting my ".sav" file correctly modded? (what format to save/etc)

4th Q. Do i have to convert my ".sa2" file to ".sav" file then mod it and RE-convert it back to a ".sa2" file?, would that correctly mod/work and see my results?

sorry for all these questions, i just need them cleared up as i am going around in circles thinking "maybe the ROM i downloaded, saves different, or im doing something wrong but what?"
