Hi all! Im compiling a team for wifi fights and my first pokemon i hve decided will be starmie. After watching a few videos, i noticed that on a basic maxed speed and special attack starmie, recover, thunderbolt, and surf are almost always used. But when it comes to the 4th move, some people use psychic while others use ice beam. Obviously psychic gives a nice STAB bonus, and not many things resist it. It is also good for taking out poison and fighting types. But then ice beam is good for taking out grass types, and nice for crushing garchomps, which would wreck my current team. So what move should i choose? I know this may depend on my current team, but what is the best overall move? Psychic or Ice Beam?

Here's some sets for if you have Black or White versions. These also work for the 4th Gen games too. :)

Starmie @Leftovers

EVs: 236 HP / 56 SAtk / 216 Spd

Timid Nature

Ability: Natural Cure

-Surf

-Thunderbolt/Ice Beam

-Rapid Spin

-Recover

Starmie is one of the better Spinners in the game and will save you a lot of

trouble from annoying Spikes and Stealth Rock. You need Surf for STAB and can

choose whether to use Thunderbolt for enemy Water types or Ice Beam for Grass

and Dragons. Thunderbolt is usually preffered since it prevents Gyarados from

setting up on you and is supereffective against Skarmory, but Ice Beam will

do more to Ferrothorn.

Starmie @Life Orb

EVs: 6 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd

Timid Nature

Ability: Natural Cure

-Surf/Hydro Pump

-Thunderbolt

-Ice Beam

-Recover

Diversity has always been one of Starmie's strong points and a Life Orb set

allows you to use that diversity to devastate your opponent. Recover heals Life

Orb recoil and any other damage Starmie might take.

Starmie @Choice Specs

EVs: 6 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd

Timid Nature

Ability: Natural Cure

-Surf/Hydro Pump

-Thunderbolt

-Ice Beam

-Trick

An all out attack set if you don't care about Rapid Spin. Trick screws up

Blissey, Ferrothorn, and any other wall that gets in your way.
