to run.

The survey you are running will be marked
in your list.

# 0_127 Once you've decided which survey to run,
just turn your C-Gear on.

The survey will take place automatically
as people pass by you.

The survey will continue even when your
DS system is closed or when you are playing
the game.

# 0_128 Before you report to the leader in Castelia
City, check the results using “CHECK SURVEY
RESULTS" in your C-Gear.

go to Passerby Analytics HQ in Castelia City
to report to your leader.

Link Battle with people nearby.

You can also exchange Friend Codes and check

# 0_130 Select the same item and let your and your
friend's DS systems face each other to start
the connection.

Once they are connected, your DS systems
no longer need to face each other.

# 0_131 When you tap the framed
“ONLINE" icon on your C-Gear,
the Game Sync option will appear.

Game Sync is a system to make a Pokémon in
the PC fall asleep and to send the saved
data of Trainers.

# 0_132 The color of the “ONLINE"
icon's frame on your C-Gear changes
depending on the situation.

It is green when the
Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection settings
on the DS system are complete.

For example, look for items or have Pokémon
battles within the time limit.

to use it by pressing the Y Button,
without having to open your Bag.

# 0_146 Pressing the green icon on the Touch Screen
or choosing one of the sort options displayed
by pressing START sorts items in the Case.

Pressing SELECT allows you to change
the order of items in a Case freely.
You can switch between
pages with the L Button or R Button.

# 0_147 Your Bag has a “Free Space."

First, choose an item in a Case.
Next, select “Put in Free Space”
to move the item to the Free Space.

# 0_148 ■ Item types
-ITEMS
Pokémon can hold some items to raise their
stats or move power. Those items are marked.

Try letting your Pokémon hold these items
to see what effects they have.

# 0_149 There are some items you can use
only in a battle to raise Pokémon stats or
moves powers.

Some items may last for a limited time.
Some last until the Pokémon switches out.

# 0_150 The Poké Balls you need to catch Pokémon
are kept in the ITEMS Case, as are items
related to Pokémon evolution.

You can combine phrases and words
to form Mail. Your Pokémon can hold Mail,
and if you trade the Pokémon with
your friends, they can deliver your Mail.

# 0_151 -MEDICINE

In the Search Mode,
you can search Pokémon
by number, alphabetical order,

“Habitat List" will be added to
the Pokédex.

The Habitat List displays Pokémon you met
by location. When you have seen or caught
all Pokémon living in a particular place,
a stamp mark will be added.

# 0_160 Your chances of capturing a Pokémon
are better if you lower your target's HP
before you throw Poké Balls.

If you use Pokémon moves to inflict a sleep
or paralysis condition on the target,
capturing it will be even easier.

# 0_161 Pokémon and their moves fall into
17 different types. Each type has
its own advantageous and disadvantageous
matchups against the others.

For example, Fire-type moves are more
effective against Bug- and Grass-type
Pokémon but are less effective against
Water- or Rock-type Pokémon.

# 0_162 When the move type matches the type of the
Pokémon using it, the power of the move
is greater than usual.

When a Pokémon has two types, either one
can affect the power.

Some move types have no effect at all
on Pokémon of certain types.

# 0_163 Moves are classified as Physical, Special, or
Status moves. You can tell which is which
by their icons.

-Physical Moves
Pokémon's Attack and Defense stats
determine the overall damage of this type
of move.

# 0_164 -Special Moves
Pokémon's Sp. Attack and Sp. Defense stats
determine the overall damage of these types
of moves.

-Status Moves
This type of move is not a direct attack, but
it can raise the Pokémon's stats and inflict
status conditions that help them in battles.

# 0_165 The Pokémon's HP has reached zero.
You must restore its HP before
it can battle again.
Some of the moves usable outside battle can
still be used when its HP reaches zero.
■ To heal your Pokémon:

-Use Revive
-Use Max Revive

# 0_166 The Pokémon has been poisoned.
Its HP will gradually decrease in battle.
This will stop when it returns to its Poké Ball
or when the battle ends, but the poisoned
Pokémon will not cure itself.

■ To heal a poisoned Pokémon:
-Let Pokémon rest at a Pokémon Center
-Use Antidote, Pecha Berry, etc.

# 0_167 The Pokémon has paralysis.

cure itself.
■ To heal a burned Pokémon:

can sometimes cure itself during a battle.

-Switch out the affected Pokémon in a battle
-Use Persim Berry, etc.

# 0_172 The Pokémon is infatuated
by a Pokémon of the opposite gender.
It has a crush on the other Pokémon
and sometimes fails to use its moves.

It will be cured when switched out
or when the other Pokémon is defeated.

# 0_173 Pokémon earn Exp. Points
after a battle. They grow as they
receive Exp. Points and level up.

The stronger the Pokémon it defeats,
the more Exp. Points it earns.

The weaker the Pokémon it defeats,
the fewer Exp. Points it earns.

# 0_174 Exp. Points are shared among
the Pokémon in a battle. To help
a weak Pokémon receive Exp. Points,
take it out and switch in a strong Pokémon.

When you trade and receive a Pokémon
from another Trainer, it'll gain more
Exp. Points than Pokémon that
you've caught yourself.

# 0_175 Pokémon sometimes evolve.
When they do, their appearance changes
and their stats increase.

There are many ways to evolve.
You can evolve some Pokémon by leveling up,
some by using items that evolve Pokémon,
and some by trading a Pokémon with a friend.
Each Pokémon has its own way to evolve.

# 0_176 If you press the B Button while a Pokémon
is evolving, it will be surprised
and will stop evolving.

You can also obtain an item that
prevents Pokémon from evolving.

# 0_177 Pokémon can grow differently,
depending on each one's Nature
and Characteristic.

Sometimes Pokémon stats such as
Attack and Defense may be colored
red or blue. Red means the stat is
more likely to increase, and blue means
the stat is less likely to increase.

# 0_178 Pokérus is a beneficial virus seldom
seen in Pokémon.

Pokémon that were once infected by Pokérus
seem to grow faster.

Pokérus may spread to other Pokémon
in your party.

# 0_179 When you leave two Pokémon
at the Pokémon Day Care,
you may find an Egg.

Take an Egg with you in your party, along with
your other Pokémon, and a Pokémon will hatch
from the Egg.

# 0_180 Once you've received the Running Shoes,
press the B Button to run.

# 0_181 The Dowsing MCHN can indicate where items
are hidden on the Touch Screen.

Follow the directions to find them. When
you stand on a hidden item, it will blink.

You cannot pick up items if you are standing
directly on them. Step away, face toward
the hidden item, and press the A Button.

# 0_182 This item lets you talk to your friends
using DS Wireless Communications
or Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

With a Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo DSi, or
