  • Online Ban Wave – Almost 6,000 People Affected

    xorhash

    globalmission1.jpg

According to the Japanese Pokémon Global Link website[1] as reported by Serebii.net[2], thousands of people (5,954 to be precise) have been hit with bans from Online Play (Game Sync, Battle Competitions, Rating Battles, Global Missions).

Banned users will see error code 090-0212.[1,2]

The Pokémon Company has announced that they will continue their pursuit against people with edited save data.[1,2]

We urgently recommend not going online until we have more information on how these bans were triggered.

Editing a pokemon from wonder trade is fine just make sure to set it as egg and make sure to set the date for as egg as a new date example in the image below

Forgot to mention I also gave myself all the TM's, and got them again thru the game, so the ban can be because the pokédex, and or repeated items which can be obtained only once.

Please understand that you swapped the day and month fields. There is no 28th month. This should read 1/28/2017.

PKHeX displays the date based on the user's locale, I believe. Simmsy's computer displays it this way. PKHeX wouldn't allow you to have an invalid entry like that in the date field :P

One question, if I'm not banned. Can I "un-link" my game sync with my save file by using Pkhex? QnP22Fb.png just like this, can I unsync my save and continue to modify my trainer info or gen pokemons?

Remember when having Keldeo/Meloetta/Genesect registered in your Pokédex in Black/White blocked you from accessing the Wi-Fi? ;)

From what it looks like it only seems to be happening if you're hacking stuff which you can't get naturally like shiny locks or unreleased pokemon. I just edited so I have 900 rare candies I think I should be in the clear

I don't do pkHex like i did with pokegen and pokesav back in the days, but i wonder why i haven't been banned after all the dumb experiments i do with powersaves and gamesync.

Considering you can buy Rare Candies with Battle Points (and get a bunch of Battle Points from Bank), I don't see that being something they'd ban for.

Just because they haven't banned you yet, doesn't mean it isn't going to happen. There's a ton of people playing these games. They probably haven't got to you yet if you've done things they don't like.

I think I should be in the clear. All I've done to my trainer is change his skin tone, but I never Game Synced until after the fact. I've synced twice and still no ban, but I'm crossing my fingers it stays that way. On my previous playthrough, I did give myself max rainbow beans and got all the Pelago islands that way .. not sure if that would've been grounds for a ban or not, but definitely trying to play this playthrough without using PKHeX as much, only hacking in things that'd make the game more fun and less of a grind (6IV Dittos for breeding, for example).

But yeah, it's becoming more and more clear that these bans are happening from carelessly hacking in things that aren't possible, like shiny-locked legendaries, complete Pokédex entries before Bank, getting Marshadow, trainer modifications, etc. It never mattered before, but apparently it is now. Maybe that'll lessen the chances of getting pitted against a ridiculously hacked team in rating battles.

It mattered before, just not as strongly as now.

(Having full dex, including unreleased, can block GTS access. I think Gen IV and V was affected. I didn't bother to try with Gen VI)

Well, I used the "Give all Clothing" thing even befor the first ban-wave (after official release) came.

I screwed up restoring the right save file a few weeks ago and lost about 3 hours of gameplay. I traded much in that time, but all was lost, after I restored a save file before all of this. I even lost some Pokédex entries there... The gamesync was done before I restored the wrong save file obviously. As I was realizing it, I played 3 1/2 hours to get back to the time (and a bit more) I saved before. I didn't manage to get back all the Pokédex enties, becaue I was doing Wondertrade before and didn't know which enties I got from it.

I have some genned Mons like a Gen 3 Machamp and Shedinja with Mimic and some genned "legal" Pokémon (I'm never gennig them form scrap. I breed a "template-Egg" and modify the Egg afterwards or I make multiple copys of it and change species etc. For Legends I use scrap Legend from Wondertade.) The only Pokémon that come out of nowhere are the japanese Events.

After all of this I WASN'T BANNED yet :D

    • Since they released over a decade ago, the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games for the Nintendo DS have not had much in the way of ROM editors. Over the past few years, hackers have slowly learned more and more about the inner workings of the games, culminating in the most advanced PMD editor to date: Sky Temple.

SkyTemple is a user-friendly level editor for Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky that gives the user full control over graphics, scripts, Pokémon data, and more, enabling a great amount of creative freedom to prospective ROM hackers to create not just edits of the game, but entirely new levels and plots.

See the trailer for the version 1.0.0 release for quick samples of what can be accomplished:
