  1. Hello Researchers! Today I have discovered an exploit for Generation 3 that affects Pokemon Legality for RNG. The exploit can be done in 2 ways. One way is to take a save file with Japanese/Localized dual compatible names and nicknames from a Japanese Gen 3 game, flash it to an English cart, and then take any already-nicknamed Pokemon (pre-naming fixes a bug with bank compatibility for Japanese-exclusive Pokemon like mew) to the name rater to enjoy longer English names when kept on that same file. The more legit way is to RNG both region games to have a 5 to 1 digit cross region OT, with the same SID and TID, similar to using RNG to rename event Pokemon via OT RNG manipulation. The next step to do is Nickname the Japanese Pokemon, trade it over, and rename it on the English game with the cross region characters. Accent letters for Latin and Japanese will pose problems, along with RS copies with the nickname flag bug. Anyhow, this process obviously fails when trying to make longer Japanese nicknames. This means Nicknamed 3rd gen event Pokemon, Nicknamed Shiny Jirachi, Nicknamed Celebi, and Nicknamed In game events are possible now to RNG users. Hopefully this helps Legality checkers! Thanks, and have fun!
  2. I'd like to apologize first off if I'm posting this in the wrong area of the forum. If I'm doing anything wrong here, please either move this someplace that's worth it or just delete it and ding me however is needed. I understand. To my point, though, I'm totally new to the concept of ROMhacking, especially in ISOs like Gamecube titles. The closest I've come to experiencing it is that time when Starsmmd made Pokemon XG: NeXt Gen and I got that installed on my computer. That was a load of fun, and it made me wonder just what else could get cracked into. Thus my idea came to a childhood favorite guilty pleasure and admittedly-novel concept of Pokemon Channel. Y'know, that Pikachu TV-watching simulator that looked so babyish to you that you passed it up? Unless you lived in Europe and could get Jirachi by finishing the game? Well, I'd love to know if anyone's already worked on that or if I can be pointed in the right direction. It wouldn't be for anything big or expansive like exchanging Pikachu's model for Tyranitar or modding out cries or soundbytes or something. The absolute most I'd love to do is change text around when it's prompted, or be able to control the text boxes period. Like for a little personal machinima project that I'd love to at least take a look at. If anyone knows where I could start pulling threads in terms of codebreaking or hacking, please. By all means, be as blunt as possible in what I should do. I wholeheartedly appreciate it.
  3. So I'm making a hack battle in Pokemon White and it is Red in Grimsley's room. How do you get it so during the battle he doesn't enter at times and say something. E.g. Red enters from side after using one attack against his first PKMN "I never thought you would use that attack! How do you make this NOT happen?
  4. Hello, I got a little problem since I've started using Pokésav today. There are some little bugs such as move names being truncated or columns in PIV/IV window having special characters instead of proper names. Here is a screenshot: => http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/39/problmeaffichagepoksav.png I downloaded the D/P 0.40c (English) version from http://projectpokemon.org/pokesav/downloadpokesav . Any idea to fix that? Thanks in advance
  5. I have small question and a request. My question is, When making a PKMN in Pokesav, in the party edit screen, does setting it to JPN translate your trainer name for you? If it doesn't then could some one post the name George, written in katakana (the writing style they use for the game), in a text format I can copy and paste it into Pokesav? Thank you.
  6. Specifically, this code: speed 9 (blazingly fast!) 94000130 FEFB0000 62101D40 00000000 B2101D40 00000000 20000078 00000008 D2000000 00000000 Can I please ask how you're supposed to actually use this? I know the button combination is Select + R, but all attempts at getting this code to work have ended up in failure. Using Select + R during the actual game does nothing, even if I change an area or whatnot. On the other hand, using Select + R on the intro (where Giratina's silhouette is and whatnot) is okay, but if Select + R are held down and then continue is pressed, the game just reboots itself like in a soft reset, meaning the code is erased from the RAM and is unusable It's restarted every time I tried this. I've tried on both the EUR (English) and USA versions of Platinum and got the same result for both. I've also tried holding Select + R for most of the intro and releasing before pressing Continue on the game; it loads up fine but there is no effect. The text just stays at the same Fast speed that I have it set on in the options. Does anyone know how you're actually supposed to use this code? I've searched loads but have never found a solid answer for it
  7. What I'm basically asking is: On the typing screen (for nicknames, character names, etc.), is all of the kanji/katakana/hiragana (I don't know the difference) the same as normal text used throughout the game? Are there any symbols that the game text uses that you cannot include in your nicknames/character name (not counting games in other languages)? Also, is the main difference between kanji, hiragana, and katakana that they have different sounds, or is it another type of writing altogether?
  8. I downloaded the most recent English version of Pokésav, but some things look weird... For instance saving and loading files looks like so: And the PID/IV screen looks REALLY weird: I gather that I'm missing a text pack somewhere, or something similar, but does anybody know specifically how to fix this?
  9. Could somebody tell me why this is happening and how to fix it? I'm getting some other minor text errors in pokesav as well. Sorry for the huge image.
  10. I found the App for iTouch/iPhone users--"Text Free Unlimited" for $5.99, but before I buy it, is it really free and unlimited?
  11. Is there something I need to do to activate them? Because I tried Speed 9 and the text speed was still the same.
  12. Since A LOT of people have trouble with this, I will redo everything that needs to be done so Japanese characters can be used on your computer. Here we go. Windows XP First, you'll need to make sure you acquired the Windows install CD (how, I do not care). Next you must go to Start > Control Panel > Regional and Language Options. Click on the Languages tab of the window and check off the "Install files for East Asian languages" and hit apply. After you have installed the languages and restarted your computer you'll want to download the AppLocale installer and install it. Now that you have everything all set, gather your Japanese and get ready. Start up AppLocale, find your copy of Pokesav, and set the language to this: Now just find the spot that you need to put your Japanese in, and paste. If you have any questions/problems, just post them here. PLEASE DO NOT MAKE UNNECESSARY TOPICS! Windows Vista In Windows Vista, using Japanese text in Pokesav is even easier. All you need to do is set your regional Unicode settings to Japanese. To do this, follow these steps, accepting UAC prompts as necessary: Go to the Control Panel (Start > Control Panel). Select the Change keyboards or other input methods link under Clock, Language, and Region. At the top, select the Administrative tab. Click the Change System Locale... button. Change the drop down list to Japanese (Japan) and confirm. Windows will then prompt you to restart your computer. After you're done using Japanese characters with Pokesav, change this setting back to what it was before, as it could affect some settings on your computer. Enjoy.
