  1. im running 4 teams now so ive got them each in spoilers. team 1 team 2 team 3 team 4
  2. Hello all. This is my first foray into competitive battling, and after a few battles on Smogon, this is my team: Hippowdon (M) @ Leftovers Ability: Sand Stream EVs: 252 HP/168 Def/88 SDef Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk) - Earthquake - Slack Off - Stealth Rock - Toxic --- Tyranitar (M) @ Choice Band Ability: Sand Stream EVs: 176 HP/252 Atk/80 Spd Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Stone Edge - Crunch - Pursuit - Aqua Tail --- Porygonz @ Choice Specs Ability: Adaptability EVs: 2 HP/4 Def/252 Spd/252 SAtk Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Tri Attack - Hidden Power [Fighting] - Dark Pulse - Hyper Beam --- Heatran (M) @ Choice Scarf Ability: Flash Fire EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk Rash nature (+SAtk, -SDef) - Earth Power - Flamethrower - Explosion - Hidden Power [Electric] --- Blissey (F) @ Leftovers Ability: Natural Cure EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/2 Spd/4 SDef Bold nature (+Def, -Atk) - Seismic Toss - Wish - Protect - Thunder Wave --- Rotom-c @ Choice Specs Ability: Levitate EVs: 4 Def/252 Spd/252 SAtk Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Leaf Storm - Thunderbolt - Hidden Power [ice] - Will-o-wisp --- Rotom seems to die really quickly, I am thinking of replacing him with a Gengar. I need Ice moves, and Brelooms have come close to destroying my team late game. I know it is not so good, and some tips would be advisable. Thank you!
  3. This is my attempt at a balanced UU team. Something that can handle multiple threats in UU and retaliate accordingly. It is for shoddy. Edit 07-06-09: changes a lot after I've tested. [sprite]012[/sprite] Butterfree@choice scarf Compound Eyes Timid 252 Spd, 252 Satk, 4 Def -sleep powder -Bug buzz -HP fire -Psychic Who doesn't like a fast and reliable sleep powder. She isn't bothered by trick leads thankfully. I prefer Choice scarf over sash just because of SR. The EV's let her switch into SR twice. I didn't really want to run a double powder set due to the scarf and I'm still having trouble deciding what to put into the last slot. I was thinking about another attack like Shadow ball or Energy ball. [sprite]379[/sprite] Registeel@leftovers Clear Body Careful 252 HP, 100 Atk, 156 Sdef -Iron Head -Seismic Toss <----Edit -Thunder Wave -Stealth Rock The amazing wall. He can take hits like a beast! He T-waves and sets up rocks. With iron head he can try for some flinch hax which has saved me on multiple occasions AND he's immune to toxic. It is a smogon set, and I'm trying to think of something else to do with him. Maybe replace Iron head w/ Siesmic toss and earthquake w/ explosion and relocate the Atk EV's into either Def or SDef. [sprite]080[/sprite] Slowbro@leftovers Own Tempo Bold 252 HP, 252 Def, 4 Sdef -Calm mind -Surf -Psychic -Slack off He and Regi make a great defensive duo. He can switch into one of registeel's counters and proceed to calm mind and hopefully cause some problems for the opposition. This set from Smogon makes him a great Special attacker and wall. Edit: ----v [shinysprite]282[/shinysprite] Gardevior@leftovers Trace modest 252 HP, 32 Spd, 48 Satk, 176 Sdef -will-o-wisp -Psychic -Wish -T-bolt Chimecho was really lacking on the defences so Gardevior is next. Will-o-wisp lets her take Physical attacks, Wish is passed for support. Edit: ---v [sprite]028[/sprite] Sandslash@leftovers sand Veil Adamant 252 HP, 252 Atk, 4 Def -Rapid spin -Stone Edge/night slash -Swords dance -Earthquake Sandslash has really pulled through for me, taking most physical attacks like a beast and ko'ing the attacker, and he can absorb electric attacks. edit: --v [sprite]146[/sprite] Moltres@life orb modest 252 Satk, 216 Spd, 40 HP -Fire blast -Airslash -HP Grass -Agility Moltres has always pulled through in a pinch. Being able to cause problems to a lot of pokes. HP grass is my preference as It can cause more damage to most bulky waters. I am pretty happy with this team. After reading this through I think that I play defensivly rather than offensivly. My Brain works in weird ways @_@ Anyway, any and all comments are needed. I just want a team that can play well in the UU environment. And for those who have seen my first RMT thread, I think I'm getting better Thanks in advance!
  4. This team is for the single battle against the AI in the BT Diamond and the BT portion of the Battle Frontier in Plat. I've gotten up to 136 in singles with this team in Diamond. I have yet to do anything besides Battle Factory challenges in Plat. So, without further adu: Starmie w/ Choice Specs Modest Natural Cure 252 sp atk/252 speed/6 HP - Surf - Thunderbolt - Ice Beam - Grass Knot/Psychic Starmie fulfills a lot of roles just by itself. It's move pool basically lets it hit everything that isn't Shedinja. It can absorb status and switch out. And it plays well with it's team mates, which I'll get to in a moment. Depending on how much I think I'll need to switch between moves, I've also used Wise Glasses and Life Orb. When I start playing around on Plat, I'm seriously considering adding Trick in the 4th slot. The first 3 moves, with STAB Surf and Boltbeam, are just too important to lose. Though I'm hesitant to do even that, because then I lose my best weapon against the numerous Water/Ground types found in the BT. I also may consider breeding for a Timid, because eventually, in the higher portions of the BT, it'll get outrun. Scizor w/ Leftovers Adamant Technician 252 HP/252 atk/6 DEF - Swords Dance - Subsitute - Bullet Punch - X-Scissor/Brick Break/Superpower/Night Slash/Quick Attack Scizor serves as my defense against OHKO and status. Come in on something Scizor won't mind, Sub up, set up a ridiculous amount of Sword Dances, and sweep. I've previously used this with Life Orb, but Life Orb + Sub often caused an early Scizor death. Even though with only two moves Scizor will leave a lot of room for "Not very effective", if I get behind a Sub, I can SD up, and I get priority with Bullet Punch always. While I've often used X-Scissor in the past, I think Brick Break will be my go-to attack. I don't want to deal with the drop in defense Superpower brings. I am considering doing a minimum amount of speed investment just to easily get a sub up. Any suggestions? Finally: Garchomp w/ Choice Band Jolly Sand Veil 252 atk/252 speed/6 HP - Outrage - Earthquake - Fire Fang - Aerial Ace/Stone Edge/Rock Slide/Aqua Tail/Sleep Talk Here's the final guy. Like Starmie, it can handle a lot of BT matches on it's own. The first 3 moves give perfect coverage for neutral damage on everything. The last slot is something that often fluctuates. Sleep Talk was at one time my go-to move, but with Starmie and Sub on Scizor I don't see a lot of use with it. Aerial Ace knocks around DT abusers. Scizor could get a technician boost from it, but it can't spare the move slot. I usually go for this. It sucks when I don't encounter a DT abuser, but when I'm without it, I usually get pressure stalled. Stone Edge and Rock Slide help me knock around fliers, and Chomp's unique base speed tier often convinces me to use Rock Slide for the flinch rate. I've never used Aqua Tail, but it kinda makes sense, though I've heard STAB whatever is just as good if not better. Oh, and after the first 60 matches or so, I usually end up switching this guy to a Choice Scarf and Adamant nature. Eventually it starts getting outrun. Now, here's why this team is awesome: Scizor's weakness of Fire is covered by both Starmie and Garchomp who resist it. Starmie is usually the better choice to take a fire attack since it won't mind the burn. Starmie's part-Psychic typing sucks. It is rarely useful, and gives it a Dark/Ghost/Bug weakness in addition to Electric and Grass. However, Scizor resists EVERY one of these except for electric, which Chomp is immune to. Garchomp's ice weakness is resisted by both Scizor and Starmie, and it's dragon weakness resisted by Scizor. So what do you all think? What improvements can be made, especially considering Plat changes? Is the Battle Tower portion in Platinum any different from D/P? Next up on my team is a Battle Tower team consisted around the eater of souls, Shedinja. But I'm still working on it. Happy rating. 5. The main goal of this team is to be offensive, i have added a wall for when the need arises but am still not sure of this desision. Please also note that this team is deesigned to MLG specifications and rules. Metagross @ Occa Berry Nature: Adamant Ability: Clearbody Evs: Hp 252 Atk 236 Def 12 Spe 10 Role: Lead Stealth Rocks Earthquake Bullet Punch Explosion Note: He can get up stealth rocks but then i generaly just resort to explosion with him. any advice on modifications or another offensive lead to use are greatly appreciated Umbreon @ Leftovers Nature : Sassy Ability: Syncronize Evs: Atk 252 Spe 252 SpDef 6 role: wall Curse Payback Taunt Wish / Moonlight Note: She gets sent in on a slow or week enemy and sets up curse. if i can get enough set up there is little anyone else can do. i am still trying to decide though, wish or moonlight? Gengar @ life orb Nature: Timid Ability: Levitate Evs: Spe 252 SpAtk 252 Def 6 Role: revenge killer / kamaikaze Shadowball Destiny Bond Focus Blast / Energy Ball Thunderbolt Note: gengar is used to hit fast and hard. i send him out against low HP opponents and those that are to strong and need to be taken down kamakazy style. please help me decide focus blast or energy ball Rhyperior @ Liechi Berry Nature: Jolly Ability: Solidrock Evs: Atk 252 Def 48 Spe 156 SpDef 54 Role: Sweeper Earthquake Stone Edge Megahorn Rockpolish Note: he is mostly generaly for mid game sweeping, rockpolish and sweep pretty simply Salamance @ Life orb Nature: Mild Ability: Intimidate Evs: Atk 84 Spe 208 SpAtk 216 Role: Wall Breaker Draco Meteor Outrage Fire Blast Earthquake Note: he pretty much does what he says, breaks walls, send him out to break a wall then switch in a sweeper or outrage the next pokemon Scizor @ Life orb Nature: Adamat Ability: Technician Evs: HP 32 Atk 252 Spe 224 Role: Late game sweeper Sword Dance Bullet Punch Brick Break X-Scissor Note: He is my late game sweeper but sometimes i send him in mid game, sword dance and sweep pretty simple I am currently toying with the idea of switching ryperior or scizor out for a special sweeper, any advice on which one to switch out and who to put in or just to keep it as is is greatly apreciated. I would just like to thank you all now for your advice and will take it all into consideration.
  6. Curse Of Darkness Team inspired by Legacy Raider's Curse Tyranitar team ------------------------------------------------------------------ Introduction: ------------------------------------------------------------------ Around the D/P Era as well as early Platinum I ran a bulky offensive team on shoddy as well as WiFi, the basic strategy behind it was to use Dual Screen Bronzong lead to set up rocks and D/S so it could make things easier for DD Tyranitar to sweep. http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=46608 This was by far one of the best teams I ever used, it got me the most wins and hardly more than 3 members died, after a while I believed the team reached it's limits so I retired it till a few days ago. On smogon I saw a RMT post by Legacy Raider promoting (I believe) Curse Tyranitar using Pokemon like Gliscor and co to make things easier for him to sweep (Gliscor dealing with fighting moves as well as psychics and other stuff dealing with things that hinder Tyranitar's sweep don't remmber the details as for some reason it got deleted). With the team posted I noticed the team resembled my team with new additions to fit the Platinum metagame, basically what the team did was make me want to rework my old team using some things LR used. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Team Line Up ------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------ In-depth look ------------------------------------------------------------------ Metagross @ Leftovers Ability: Clear Body Nature: Adamant (+Attack, - Special Attack) EVs: 252 HP | 236 Attack | 12 Defense | 8 Speed Bullet Punch Earthquake / Meteor Mash Stealth Rock Explosion ....................... Comments & Suggestions: Taken straight from the Smogon dex with Leftovers over Occa Berry. Metagross as a lead is very interesting, the purpose of this set is to set up rocks while dealing with some of the common leads in the metagame like suicide leads. With his typing and ability Metagross provides my team with useful resists, when Stealth Rock is up normally save Metagross for later so I can check some dragon Pokemon (predicted Outrage etc), normally this Pokemon is Salamence as Salamence can be a pain to kill when played right so it is important I keep Metagross alive as long as I can. The EVs give Metagross a bit of bulk as as I am not really interested in out speeding other Pokemon, the move sets goes either way for me, I tend to use Meteor Mash over Earthquake most of the time so I can attempt an early sweep but that would mean steel types resist all of my moves, Explosion is to take out a key member as a perfectly timed Explosion can be game breaking for this team. Gliscor @ Leftovers Ability: Hyper Cutter Nature: Jolly (+Speed, - Special Attack) EVs: 252 HP | 40 Special Defense | 216 Speed Swords Dance Earthquake Roost Stone Edge ....................... Comments & Suggestions: Now this is a member I am very fond of. Gliscor acts as a fighting check (I think) as well as a great supporting Pokemon for my team, with his speed, decent attack and defense stats he is normally one of the last members standing late game. The move set is so that i can stop stat up users that are outsped by Gliscor as well as ruin some other sets for Pokemon, this has helped me stop Pokemon from stalling with Recovery as well as screw up switch ins, Roost gives Gliscor well needed recovery and the rest deals with fighting Pokemon and Heracross as well as Pokemon weak to ground. The EVs are so that Gliscor can have as much health and speed as possible while having a ok attack and defense stats, I haven't used this set in a while so I don't know remember it fares against Lucario. Zapdos @ Leftovers Ability: Pressure Nature: Timid (+ Speed, - Attack) EVs: 252 HP | 80 Special Attack | 176 Speed Thunderbolt Heat Wave Roost Hidden Power [Grass] ....................... Comments & Suggestions: Zapdos is one of the defensive cores of the team that is able to check stuff like Swampert that give this team a lot of trouble, I felt that Salamence was dead weight on the team, which died too soon because of the Life Orb + Stealth Rock + Sandstream combination. Zapdos also aids in beating Scizor which is a thorn to Tyranitar, my old team used to have major problems with SD Scizor especially but the addition of Zapdos with recovery as remedied that. Uxie @ Light Clay Ability: Pressure Nature: Impish (+Defense, - Special Attack) EVs: 252 HP | 180 Defense | 76 Speed Reflect Light Screen Memento U-Turn ....................... Comments & Suggestions: This is the first time I have ever used Uxie and I must say he/she is a fine addition to this team. I consider Uxie to be the Mesprit and Bronzong mixed together, my old team had Bronzong set up screens while crippling another pokemon while I had a psychic immune to ground scout what my opponenet does, Uxie accomplished these taaks by setting up screens and crippling with memento, if I want to save him/her for later I U-Turn out of there. Scizor @ Choice Band Ability: Technician Nature: Adamant (+ Attack, - Special Attack) EVs: 248 HP | 252 Attack | 8 Speed Bullet Punch Superpower Pursuit U-Turn ....................... Comments & Suggestions: Scizor with Choice Band is an excellent addition to any offensive team that needs a raw revenge killing Pokemon, with Choice Band + Stealth Rock you are looking at killing alot of Pokemon denting enough to be killed by other offensive pokemon. The key to this set is making sure you are not predicable, this means most of the time you are going to need to use the odd pursuit, but I mainly stick to U-Turning ass scouting is a massive help, with U-Turn I can plan what my next move is gonna be, though this does not work against his main counter that being Heatran, a well predicated Superpower decimates his ass, and if it is not Scizor I am still doing hells worth of damage providing a ghost does not come in and kill me. This is also the perfect trapper imo as well as the best set for Scizor, Choice Band + Bullet Punch will indefinitely deal with Gengar, and if he decides to switch out, Pursuit deals with him, Gengar as well as everything that is weak to Pursuit is in a no win situation when in the same ring as Scizor. (Another lazy repost) Tyranitar @ Leftovers Ability: Sand Stream Nature: Careful (+Special Defense, - Special Attack) EVs: 74 HP | 252 Attack | 8 Defense | 176 Special Defense Curse Crunch Substitute Stone Edge ....................... Comments & Suggestions: Credits go to Randomspot for showing the set. Anyways Curse Tyranitar is a beast, that is all I have to say, after two curses and stuff Tyranitar becomes a very difficult Pokemon to take down providing everything that kills him is weakened/taken otu beforehand. This set is a little different to the the normal set found on Smogon, as I don't like Rest I decided to use this set. Basically you sub as early as possible and curse up behind the sub, with Tyranitar's decent special defense and attack while being boosted by Curse he should be able to clean up late game. The move set is what I am having problems with, Payback is a powerful move but I feel Crunch will be better suited for that move slot, with the other moves I have the option of using Stone Edge, Earthquake or Crunch, it is hard choosing a good move for it. ------------------------------------------------------------------ The End ------------------------------------------------------------------ Ok so I know that the team is not perfect, I am considering dropping Salamence for a Latias as well as trying out Celebi, the Curse set has been working well for me. (I have been lazy in this rmt, sorry). ------------------------------------------------------------------ Change Log ------------------------------------------------------------------ Gave Tyranitar Crunch and Stone Edge Changed Gliscor's spread Changed Gliscor's move set Changed Gliscor's nature and ability Mesprit and Salamence gone New members being Uxie and Zapdos ------------------------------------------------------------------ Change Log ------------------------------------------------------------------ Coming soon
  7. [sprite]385[/sprite] Jirachi @ Damp Rock Ability: Serene Grace EVs: 252 HP/176 Spd/80 SAtk Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Rain Dance - Thunder - Stealth Rock - U-turn --- Weaknesses: Ground, Fire Resists: Normal, Flying, Rock, Steel, Grass, Psychic, Ice, Dragon Immune: Poison Jirachi is the lead rain dancer, and mid-rain dancer. Stealth rock is to provide additonal dmg against switch ins, and allows Dugtrio to OHKO Tyranitar. U-Turn is to switch out after doing his job, allowing him to return mid-game to restart Rain Dance in case of a long game. Thunder provides a powerful attack in Rain, with a 60% chance to paralyze. [sprite]051[/sprite] Dugtrio (M) @ Choice Band Ability: Arena Trap EVs: 40 HP/252 Atk/216 Spd Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Earthquake - Rock Slide - Night Slash - Sucker Punch --- Weaknesses: Grass, Water, Ice Resistances: Poison, Rock Immune: Electric Dugtrio traps and kills Tyranitar and Blisseys. With a choice band and high attack, Dugtrio can OHKO Tyranitars who have been damaged by stealth rock, and 2HKO Blisseys. He can also trap and kill certain electric types such as Electivire. The Jolly nature is to allow him to get first attack on a single DD Tyranitar. Sucker Punch allows a strong priority attack, Night Slash can be used against a switch in who's resistant to ground/rock, and Rock Slide provides a strong attack against fliers. [sprite]419[/sprite] Floatzel (M) @ Life Orb/Left Overs Ability: Swift Swim EVs: 226 HP/252 Atk/8 Def/24 Spd Lonely nature (+Atk, -Def) - Bulk Up - Waterfall - Ice Punch - Return --- Weaknesses: Grass, Electric Resistances: Steel, Fire, Water, Ice Floatzel is a powerful physical sweeper. 24 speed will allow it to outrun all threats in the rain, and Bulk Up is used to enhance it's already powerful attack. STAB Waterfalls provide a powerful attack, Ice Punch takes care of fliers or dragons, and Return gives a strong normal attack for near perfect coverage. Life Orb is used to boost his already powerful attack, although I may use Leftovers instead. [shinysprite]272[/shinysprite] Ludicolo (M) @ Life Orb Ability: Swift Swim EVs: 4 Def/252 Spd/252 SAtk Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Surf - Grass Knot - Ice Beam - Hidden Power [bug] Weaknesses: Flying, Poison, Bug Resistances: Ground, Steel, Water Ludicolo was chosen as my special sweeper for it's potent attack and unique typing. Flying, poison and bug moves aren't usual in the OU tier. Surf was chosen over Hydro Pump because I value accuracy over power. Grass Knot was chosen over Energy Ball because it generally deals more damage, and can 2HKO Gyarados. I have to watch out though, because without Energy Ball, Vaporeon can stall out Grass Knot. Ice Beam gives a strong attack against fliers and dragons, and Hidden Power Bug was chosen because it has a high chance to OHKO a Celebi who was struck with stealth rock. [sprite]260[/sprite] Swampert (M) @ Leftovers Ability: Torrent EVs: 240 HP/216 Def/52 SAtk Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spd) - Earthquake - Ice Beam - Surf - Rain Dance Weaknesses: Grass (x4!) Resistances: Poison, Rock, Steel, Fire Immune: Electric Provided Jirachi opens against a Pokemon who counters it, his goal is to set up stealth rocks, then U-turn out to Swampert. Swampert has good resistances, and only one weakness. His immunity to electric attacks also provide a good switch-in against electric types that Dugtrio might not be able to handle. (Zapdos is one). Other then that, Mixpert is a good attacker, with powerful earthquakes, ice beams, and STAB rain-danced surfs. [sprite]212[/sprite] Scizor (M) @ Life Orb Ability: Technician EVs: 176 HP/100 Atk/56 Spd/176 SDef Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Pursuit - U-turn - Roost - Bullet Punch --- Weaknesses: Fire (x4!) Resistances: Normal, Bug, Ghost, Steel, Grass, Psychic, Ice, Dragon, Dark Immune: Poison Scizor. He's a strong attacker, and in a rain dance team, fire attacks are lessened against him. It doesn't completely negate his weaknesses, but it does provide some leeway. A slow U-turn allows a good switch-in, pursuit can also handle celebi and latias, and Bullet Punch is the strong attack we all know and love. Roost allows him to heal. I used this set for a surprise value, as most people expect a swords dance Scizor, but I may switch him to standard since I'm not sure how well this will work.
  8. The objective of this team is to outlast the enemy while damage over time effects take him out. [sprite]260[/sprite] Swampert (M) @ Leftovers Ability: Torrent EVs: 240 HP/216 Def/52 SAtk Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spd) - Stealth Rock - Earthquake - Surf - Ice Beam Weaknesses: Grass (x4!) Resistances: Poison, Rock, Steel, Fire Immune: Electric Provides necessary resistances to rock and fire, is another Tyranitar counter, and is a great opener. [shinysprite]460[/shinysprite] Obama (M) @ Leftovers Ability: Snow Warning EVs: 6 Atk/252 Spd/252 SAtk Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Substitute - Leech Seed - Blizzard - Grass Knot --- Weaknesses: Fighting, Flying, Poison, Rock, Bug, Steel, Fire (x4!) Resists: Ground, Grass, Water, Electric Abomasnow is used for Snow Warning. He'll open with sub, and proceed to leech seed. Blizzard is used since it has 100% accuracy in hail, and Grass Knot is an additional STAB attack. [shinysprite]365[/shinysprite] Walrein (F) @ Leftovers Ability: Ice Body EVs: 220 HP/244 Def/46 Spd Bold nature (+Def, -Atk) - Substitute - Protect - Roar - Blizzard Weaknesses: Fighting, Rock, Grass, Electric Resistances: Water, Ice Standard Stallrein. Switching Substitute and Protect basically allows for 32 turns of stalling which equals up to 200% caused by hail to the opposing team, more if I have SR and toxic spikes out. Roar is there to outspeed the standard Skarmony who tries to whirlwind from my stall, and blizzard is for a strong accurate STAB. [sprite]473[/sprite] Mamoswine (M) @ Choice Band Ability: Snow Cloak EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spd Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Earthquake - Ice Shard - Stone Edge - Bite --- Weaknesses: Steel, Fighting, Grass, Water, Fire Resists: Poison Immune: Electric Mamoswine is the main sweeper of the team. Surprisingly fast, and insanely powerful. Earthquake will one-shot Scizors, and he outspeeds them. Ice Shard is a STAB priority attack, Stone Edge gives additional coverage, and Bite was thrown in to mix things up. (I really had no idea what to use in that last slot, so I went with more coverage) [sprite]073[/sprite] Tentacruel (M) @ Leftovers Ability: Liquid Ooze EVs: 252 HP/120 Def/136 SDef Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk) - Toxic Spikes - Rapid Spin - Knock Off - Surf Weaknesses: Ground, Electric, Psychic Resistances: Fighting, Poison, Bug, Steel, Fire, Water, Ice Tentacruel serves to counter Infernape and Heatran, set up toxic spikes for additional stall damage, rapid spin remove SR, spikes, and knock off to remove leftovers which are countering the hail damage. [sprite]472[/sprite] Gliscor (M) @ Leftovers Ability: Hyper Cutter EVs: 252 HP/40 Atk/216 Spd Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Swords Dance - Roost - Earthquake - Stone Edge Weaknesses: Water, Ice (x4!) Resists: Fighting, Poison, Bug Immune: Ground, Electric Gliscor is the answer to Lucario and Tyranitar. The Jolly nature and speed ev's allow it to outrun all Lucarios, and go for a OHKO earthquake. Roost restores health, and swords dance allows stone edge to OHKO Gyarados, Dragonite, and Salamences after a SR/Hail. Please note that Spd is Speed, and SpD is special defense. This confused random before, but since this is how Shoddy exported it, I'm leaving it. Threats: [sprite]212[/sprite] Frankly, I don't have anything that can beat it's Bullet Punch. Gliscor resists it, but I've been told Scizor won't be OHKOed by it, and the second Bullet Punch would finish it off. Not only that, but it's immune to the toxic spikes Tentacruel sets up. I guess the only thing I would do is suicide Gliscor, and then finish Scizor off with Swampert.
  9. RANDOMSPOT555 EDIT: To stop the random complaining, while at the same time able to maintain some humor in here, all gimmick teams can go in here. As in, teams that would in no way function outside of being complete jokes. Sound good? Okay. Introduction So are you tired of fighting those ugly uber teams unprepared? Well, I devised a team that's foolproof and will ALWAYS defeat. Ready? The Roster [sprite]129[/sprite] Magikarp@Focus Sash Flail Sweeper 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Speed Jolly Nature - Splash - Tackle - Flail - Bounce With Magikarp you're going have a blast! So here is the idea. Since it rains in ubers thanks to the abundance of Kyogre, Magikarp's speed will double. Then Magikarp will get hit by Thunder, and Focus Sash kicks in, absorbing everything. That Kyogre will laugh so hard he will begin setting up, while Magikarp proceeds to Flail the fish, becoming a 5-4HKO to a max HP Kyogre with 1 HP while Calm Mind does 0 damage to the Red fishy! Take that! It's also 25.73% - 30.12% against a minimum HP Kyogre... so it's a guaranteed 4HKO! Also, a max HP Arceus is 6HKOd while the Extremekiller's Swords Dance will do ZERO damage against the fishy! This wonderful fish is gonna own people tonight! [sprite]011[/sprite] Metapod@Leftovers Physical Wall 252 HP/252 Def/6 SpD Impish Nature - Bug Bite - Iron Defense - String Shot - Tackle The premier physical wall of this team. With + 6 defense, he can take an unboosted Arceus's Extremespeed for a total of 12.17% - 14.47%! And he can take him down with a 63HKO Bug Bite while Arceus can only manage 0 damage with Swords Dance! That Bug Bite can also eat off a Pinch Berry... so if Metapod gets Salac or Liechi Berry... they're in for it! [sprite]014[/sprite] Kakuna@Choice Band Choice Bander 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Speed Adamant Nature - Poison Sting - Bug Bite With Choice Band, expect things to die horribly. Max HP Steel-type Arceus is a 25 HKO with a Choice Banded Bug Bite! In an environment where Psychics are prevalent, a Kakuna can easily switch into a Swords Dance or Calm Mind and kill off stuff with Bug Bite. To give you a perspective Deoxys-A can be 2HKOd if its negative natured. This Kakuna will NEVER get walled, EVER! [sprite]266[/sprite] Silcoon@Leftovers Physical Special Wall 252 HP/6 Def/252 SpD Careful Nature - Iron Defense - String Shot - Poison Sting - Bug Bite A backup bug... walls stuff like NOBODY else can do! [sprite]268[/sprite] Cascoon@Choice Band The Tanky Sweeper 252 HP/252 Atk/6 SpD Adamant Nature - Bug Bite - Poison Sting - Tackle Walls stuff AND kills stuff! This thing kills stuff like NOBODY has ever done before! If you are unfortunate to meet up with this member of this team, just hope his awesomeness Cascoon will spare you from the wrath of his evil eye! [sprite]349[/sprite] Feebas@Focus Sash Magikarp's Ugly Stepsister 252 HP/6 Attack/252 Speed Jolly Nature - Mirror Coat/Hypnosis - Protect - Waterfall - Flail You thought Magikarp was awesome? Just wait until you see the ugly stepsister! With Focus Sash, she is not OHKOd by the likes of Kyogre and WILL reflect it back with her UGLY stare (Mirror Coat), frying that poor killer whale into dust. If you opt for Hypnosis, the opponent WILL be outsped by the ugly stepsister in the rain and will be hypnotized into sleeping thanks to her UGLY stare and continue to Flail them and STAB Waterfall in the rain. This one's SURE to cause stuff to die horribly! FEAR the UGLY STARE! Any comments? Please rate!
  10. This has probably been brought up before but I would just like to say: That there needs to be a Rate My Team sub forum in Competitive Battling main forum, having a single thread for posting teams makes things messy and inconvenient, having a dedicated forum for posting rate my team threads would remedy this. If such a thing is considered then I would recommend these rules. Unless stated your team must consist of 6 pokemon, 1 from a different species (now more than one lucario per team for example). There should be no ubers in your team unless you are posting a uber tier team. Teams must follow this format: Pokemon @ Items Ability Nature EVs Moveset - Moveset 1 - Moveset 2 - Moveset 3 - Moveset 4 When posting your rmt thread have some actual words to say about your choices, what they do for your team and why they do it, one line sentances does not help the rater get an idea on why you chose your members. Have a strategy for your team, posting 6 random OU or any other tier Pokemon does not get you anywhere, if it is an offensive team, tell us why it is an offensive team, is it bulky offense? Avoid posting the same old repetitive team you posted before. Something along those lines would improve the quality of the comepetive battling forum and make things more organized.
  11. Pokémon Team Building Guide - Guide Created From: Silent Storm Welcome to the guide! This guide will cover everything you need to know about team building and the statics of a Pokémon and how they be modified. We hope you enjoy the guide and be sure to read the EV Training Guide for more info on how you can make the most of the Pokémon's stats. Movesets I take it you know what movesets are so there is no point explaining what they are. When deciding a moveset you have to consider the fact that you can't have two moves of the same types unless its a power up move or a move like Spikes or whirlwind. You also have to consider that the moveset should be varied to take down a good selection of Pokemon. Take this moveset of an Infernape as an example. Earthquake Grass knot Close combat Flare blitz. This is a standard moveset for a competitive Infernape. Flare blitz and close combat cover a fair majority of Pokemon, mostly common Pokemon used in this generations teams. The moveset is a mixed sweeper moveset, so it can take down a a good selection of Pokemon without too much trouble. Earthquake takes down electric, ground, rock and steel Pokemon, Grassknot takes down the likes of water Pokemon and works effective with heavy Pokemon like Snorlax. Close combat takes down rock, ground, steel and normal Pokemon, and with a hasty nature, defense being lowered while using it is not important. However, movesets are dependent on the natures, a topic that I will cover later in this guide. IV's A Pokemon has 6 stats: - HP - Atk - Def - Sp. Atk - Sp. Def - Spd And every Pokemon gets a random Individual value (consider it an extra bonus) ranging from 0 to 31. (to get an idea of the individual values of a Pokemon JUST BORN you can use two methods, leveling up to at least lvl 20 with rare candies or using the day care, IT NEEDS TO LEVEL UP WITHOUT FIGHTING OR GETTING EXPERIENCE OF ANY FIGHT = no exp.share, and using an IV calculator like the one at Serebii.net) Getting a 0 doesn't mean it's bad, but you're not getting any extra push that could mean victory or defeat... so people aims to get better values on their Pokemon by catching, trading or random breeding the Pokemon they want. But there's an option to at least make it easier. Breeding helps to inherit or "pass down" some of those individual values from the parents to the babies. This is an example (showing stat/IV) Male: HP/31 Atk/16 Def/30 Sp.Atk/2 Sp.Def/31 Spd/20 Female: HP/11 Atk/30 Def/0 Sp.Atk/25 Sp.Def/31 Spd/29 Let's say this Pokemon will be a defensive wall, the Sp.Def on both parents is 31, they can reach the highest value on Sp.Def, and look.. the father has also the highest HP and a very good Def. so we'll be aiming to get those 3 values inherited... the HP and Def of the male and the SP.def of the female... Why only 3? There's a rule for IV breeding; 3 of the IV's of the baby will be inherited from the parents at random and the other 3 will be totally random, so it still be a matter of luck... only that you have a higher chance now of getting the combination needed. Getting the right 3 values can take a long time and lots of rejected babies but you don't need to aim for perfection.. you can use the better babies you get if you get tired. In Pokemon Emerald there was a guy who evaluated your Pokemon by their IV's but now each Pokemon has a little flavor text on their summary Here's the different options and the range of values they cover: the ones in bold contain the highest value of 31... so you should aim for those and check with the calculator if theyare indeed 31's... cause they can be of a lower value btw... the message appears depending on the HIGHEST IV the pokemon has, but if it has more than 1 value at 31, the message will be chosen at random form them (a 31 hp 31atk pokemon can say either "often dozes off" or "likes to trash about" for example) Hidden Power Hidden Power is move where its power and type are dependent on the IVs, this move becomes very useful in the field of battle when you get the type and power you want. To calculate the type and power of HP look at the time below. Or if you like taking the easy and effective route, then use MetalKid's calculatorhttp://www.metalkid.info/Pokemon/OnlineProgram/Calculators/HiddenPower.aspx Remember the higher the IVs, the stronger Hidden Power is: NaturesLike EV's and movesets, Natures are vital when you are preparing a good balanced team. These are the natures. Ok by following this, if I get a snorlax with a Adamant nature, I will EV train it with 252 attack evs. 252 defense evs and 4 hit points evs, focusing on attack EVs most cause of the nature. If you don't get the nature you want the first time, re breeding helps (or if its a one off Pokemon like Rotom, soft resetting helps cause Natures are random, hopefully it won't come to that if you are lucky.) Hold items Hold items are also important, cause they can either power up the stats of your Pokemon, or lower the stats of your opponents Pokemon. Hold items can either work in battle or outside of battle, but I am talking about in battle in this guide. So say I have a Snorlax and it has a rest move, I would have it hold a Lum berry so that when it uses rest, Lum Berry effect is that when the Pokemon holding the item is affect by any status affecting moves it will automatically heal the Pokemon. Seeing as rest makes the user sleep, it will heal the user's status, maing it a +1 on your side, and a -1 on the opponent's side. Leftovers is another common hold item, it heals the Pokemon by a bit while battling. Using it with a defensive will make it annoying as hell to beat, especially if you fighting a Blissy or Snorlax. To find out about the different kinds of hold items, check the site's new Pokedex from SCV! To sum it up, to build a competitive team, you are going to have to consider IV's, EV's, Natures, movesets and hold items. Also, I wanted to talk about egg moves, but there is not really much to say, just look on Serebii for egg moves. http://www.serebii.net/index2.shtml Tip - By catching a ditto with an adamant or jolly nature, giving it an Everstone and breeding it with the Pokemon you want to train will give the egg Pokemon the nature of the Ditto. Same applies to female versions of Pokemon. Type Chart Links - Under Construction - Threats In The Game Credits Dark_Azelf, JUDGEMENT0, Serebii and Silent Storm.
  12. I need someone to pokesav me a team then trade it to me over wifi. I have a request that I'll PM you.
  13. First of all, I apologize for my English. I am not a native speaker, kindly bear with me :creep: I am really new into this game. Currently, I am still playing Pearl, (I have a Platinum already but not playing yet..). Below is the current Team I am using at the BATTLE TOWER. Please, I need your professional opinion and advice. Metagross @ Occa Berry Nature: Adamant Ability: Clear Body EVs: 252 HP / 236 Atk / 12 Def / 8 Spe Role: Lead - Stealth Rock - Bullet Punch - Earthquake - Meteor Mash Comment: A Smogon-based metagross lead, with my own version of moveset, keeping Meteor Mash & Bullet Punch for STAB. Empoleon @ Leftovers Nature: Modest Ability: Torrent EVs: my original starter, decided not to EV-train him to see how far he will get Role: Special Sweeper - Hail - Blizzard - Surf - Earthquake Comment: Hail for Blizzard's accuracy, leftovers for the effect of Hail, Earthquake for coverage. Gyarados @ Wacan Berry Nature: Jolly Ability: Intimidate EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe Role: Offensive (sweeper) - Waterfall - Thunderbolt - Fire Blast - Dragon Dance Comment: Wacan Berry to weaken electric attacks, Thunderbolt and Fire Blast for coverage. Note: Currently, my team is at a 35 winning game streak. I wonder how far will it go? Your feed back is truly appreciated.
  14. "Rate My Team" Rules and Information Post your team in this Sub-Forum for everyone to rate and also to get advice from others. All teams will be graded as Pokémon DPPt Teams, if your team differs, please post the version the team will be used in. Last, but not least, state where the team will be used: Battle Tower Elite Four In-Game General (now with own thread: http://projectpokemon.org/forums/showthread.php?t=2335) Competitive Wi-Fi Please use the following Format when making a RMT Thread: Pokemon @ Item Nature: Ability: EVs: Role: - Move 1 - Move 2 - Move 3 - Move 4 Comment: (Optional, but highly recommended) Criticizing Rules: 1. Post Helpful Comments - Post how they can improve their team/member. 2. Be Respectful - Don't be offensive and don't use an aggressive tone. OP Rules: 1. Use Proper Format - Follow the above format and you should be good. 2. Be Respectful - Don't be offensive and don't use an aggressive tone. Tips: (By Illithian 8/29/09} Create your team in Shoddy Battle and hit 'Export to Text' to have it automatically formatted. Include pictures of your Pokemon. Try to ignore your favorites; it will make it much easier to create a successful team if you aren't attached to a specific pokemon. Test your team frequently! You'll have fun and be able to see strengths and weaknesses much better in practice then on paper. Also, once suggestions are posted, you can really see the difference and whether or not its worth keeping. Good luck and have FUN!

  17. All art is from random google search and hosted via free image hosting. Most of it is chosen for the creep factor. But credit is given when I know who to give it to. Starting out is: Bugman the Flygon w/ Choice Scarf Adamant Levitate 82 HP/252 atk/176 speed - Earthquake/Fire Punch - Outrage - U-Turn - Thunder Punch My beautiful lead. I originally had many more EVs dumped into HP so I could outrun Lead Aerodactyl, but then I figured that I wanted this guy around to be my all around revenge killer. Even though Earthquake gets STAB, I started out using Fire Punch to revenge kill Scizor. And my thought process is Heatran is never going to stay in on EQ anyway. But I've found it to be more than useful in a few Wi-Fi matches and Battle Tower runs. I almost always U-Turn right out, since Flygon usually can't score a KO. Then I switch to an appropriate counter. It hits 420 speed, so it really doesn't have anything else to outrun as a lead, besides the occasional Scarf Gengar. Usually, I u-Turn out to this d00d: Weird the Bronzong w/ Light Clay or Leftovers Careful Levitate 88 HP/252 atk/110 Defense/60 Special Defense - Reflect - Stealth Rock/Light Screen - Explosion - Hypnosis Comes in on Flygon, sets up Stealth Rock. Maybe fire off a Hypnosis and sets up a Screen. I've been contemplating Leftovers, since fire moves are running rampant, and what's the point in having a screen or two if you can't survive to set it up. 252 atk is just for a powerful explosion, though I'm considering making it less to get some more bulk out of it. Hypnosis is chosen because Bronzong can usually afford to take some hits, so it can afford to miss once. *credit to Arkeis*ICANFLY! the Claydol w/ Leftovers Bold Levitate 252 HP/252 DEF/6 Sp Atk - Calm Mind - Ice Beam - Earth Power - Rapid Spin While none of my team is weak to SR, it still piles up damage. And it's nice to get rid of spikes. This d00der comes in on Skarmory, takes no damage from spikes and resists SR, spins away, and after a few Calm Minds, can take special hits pretty well. I am considering some EVs in Sp Def, so any recommendations are welcome. The attacks are the best I could do. Ice Beam prevents dragons (sans Kingdra) from coming in unharmed, while Earth Power is there so Heatran won't get the last laugh. The star of the team: *Credit to Deviant Art, to give the "talented" artists a place to be restricted to. Wizard the Tyranitar w/ Leftovers Careful Sand Stream 74 HP/252 atk/8 Def/176 Sp Def - Curse - Sub - Brick Break/Fire Punch - Crunch I originally had Fire Punch, but then it wasn't doing me much. With Brick Break, I can hit Scizor for neutral damage, and Heatran for SE. Crunch for STAB and it has more PP than Payback. And I chose Brick Break over Superpower because of the defense/atk drop, and to break down screens. This guy is so awesome. Screw the DD set. Curse is where it's at. All it really needs is other Pokes to come in and take care of status. I am considering lowering the attack to sink more either into defense or HP. I'm already covered on special defense due to Claydol, and my 6th member. The key to playing Tyranitar is to not come in too early. Too early, and it could get hit with status, or someone has a great counter. Both of these make it harder to get 2-3 Curses in. Also, because two attacks don't allow a lot for coverage. Heatran w/ Choice Scarf Modest Flash Fire 252 sp atk/252 speed/6 HP - Fire Blast - Dark Pulse - Earth Power - Will O Wisp/Overheat/Heat Wave/ Standard set. It's also a revenge killer, but it's mainly here to take poison and fire hits, because my origianl team had a massive fire (And bug) weakness. I'm probably going to end up going for a more defensive set, perhaps a RestTalker. Suggestions are welcome. Heatran's move pool kind of sucks. The 4th slot here is basically filler. Overheat can burn at 30%, Will O Wisp if I think I'm forcing a switch, Heat Wave because why not? *Credit to DEviant Art for creepy picture* Suicune w/ Leftovers Bold Pressure 252 HP/252 Def (no others, from a trade from eons ago) - Calm Mind - Protect - Ice Beam - Surf Not only was my old team heavily fire weak, but it was bug weak too. Which meant Scizor could rip through it. So here is my check on Scizor. Since it already needs 2 calm minds to do any worthwhile damage to non SE hits, I'm thinking of turning it into a complete support set. Or maybe digging through my boxes and see if I have any other options so I can EV train a new one to run Calm Mind. Mybe this 252/252 spread could run a nice Mirror Coat, Swagger, Roar, Toxic set? It might get replaced by Marvel Scale Rest Talk Milotic. Maybe. Overall, I got the following things covered with my team: Status: No one can really absorb sleep or paralysis, unless I change Suicune or Heatran to RestTalk. But Suicune won't mind the paralysis, and T-Tar's sub prevents status altgoether. Heatran absorbs fire, and all steels absorb toxic. Other weaknesses: Bronzong and Flygon cover ground weakness, Heatran covers fire and can take a variety of other hits, Suicune doesn't resist much but is incredibly bulky. Flygon revenge kills like nothing matters. Tyranitar will stay out of danger so it can keep changing weather patterns in my favor. My original team included the following: Skarmory w/ Leftovers Impish Keen Eye 252 HP/252 DEF/6 sp DEF - Roost/Counter - Stealth Rock - Spikes - Roar I quickly ditched Counter because I wasn't taking much damage from physical attacks. It served it's purpose well, but it mostly just sat there. It could still be viable on this team, but I'm not sure how beneficial it would be. This is why Bronzong now carries SR. Though if I continue to fail to set up screens and explode, this guy might make his way back. Torterra w/ Leftovers Impish Overgrow 212 HP/252 DEF/44 Speed - Leech Seed - Protect - Earthquake - Wood Hammer Standard set from Smogon. 44 Speed didn't help at all in outrunning Swampert. I guess most are running more speed nowadays. Otherwise it just added another fire and bug AND Ice weak Poke. I got Leech Seed off quite a few times, but I'm not sure how worth it it was. It could force switches because of Leech Seed, but other Pokes can do that too. So, go on, rate the team.

  19. This thread is to discuss your opinions on team galactic in the anime. Like are they efficient, not in it enough, cool, or maybe you dislike them in the anime and turn the TV off when they are in an episode. What are your thoughts. I think team galactic isn't in the anime enough. They are pretty cool and efficient I think it makes the episodes better because there operations are all planned out right down to the letter and the good guys are constantly trying to keep up. They should be in it enough. I loved the episode losing its lustrous and the one that followed it. Please comment!
  20. I'm making a new team, and I want it to look totally legit for the Pokemon VGC. I've ran the Legit checker, and I think everything looks okay..But I would like a second opinion on it, and maybe you guys can find something wrong that I can't. All of the pokemon have the regular name "LUCARIO" like that. Thanks for any help in advance. -Cody Team.rar

  22. Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver Speculation Thread Please use this thread to discuss possibilities of things that you think might or might not be in HeartGold and SoulSilver. Please make a note of confirmed information in the thread here: http://projectpokemon.org/forums/showthread.php?p=50138#post50138 Some information from GSC: Regarding Pokémon availability: The game will most likely use the Johto Pokédex which included all 251 known Pokémon at that time. However, not all of them were available to be caught in the games. Unobtainable Pokémon in Pokémon Gold: Unobtainable Pokémon in Pokémon Silver It's also possible that the Pokemon included in the Johto Dex who now have new evolutions from Gen 3 or 4 could see those evolutions present in the new games and possibly a newer version of the Johto Dex. Or perhaps they won't be, like FR/LG? What do you think? Pokemon that have been introduced in Gen III or IV that evolve from or into a Johto Dex Pokemon: Despite being able to travel to Kanto, these Pokemon were unavailable: Out of these listed Kanto Pokemon, the fossil Pokemon are able to be found in the Underground in DPP, the three legendary birds are found in Platinum, but the starters are only obtainable by migration from FRLG and Mewtwo/Mew are not available in a 4th Gen game yet. Also, Celebi was obtainable through an item-activated event in the Japanese version, but not American. Therefore, it could be possible that a Celebi event could be in the new games. Perhaps with a GS Ball event similar to the Member's Card or Oak's Letter. What do you think about the Kanto starters and Mew/Mewtwo? Do you think there could be something similar to Birch giving you a Johto starter in Emerald? Or perhaps an item-activated event for Mewtwo in the Cerulean Cave? Legendary Pokemon in GS: I think it's safe to say that the Regi-trio Pokemon will not be included in these versions since they were already in Platinum (as well as obviously being in RSE). Obtainable Pokemon through in-game gifts Rumors: * N/A ATM Keep in mind this thread is purely for speculation as we have no actual information to go on. What do you think about this? Do you think other Pokemon will be included? Do you think Kanto will be included (or do you think it will be cut since it already appeared in FR/LG)? Do you think more of Kanto's Pokemon will be available? Do you think Kanto will be the same size? Bigger/more in-depth than in GS? What kind of legendary/event Pokemon do you think will be in the game? What kind of Pokemon do you think we'll get through item-activated events (such as Darkrai, Shaymin and Arceus)? Do you think we'll see ways to obtain Mewtwo, Mew, Celebi or even Jirachi's first in-game obtainable appearance? What other aspects of the game do you think will be included? Or what do you think will be cut from the original release of GS? I'm personally really hoping to see something like the Battleground from Platinum where you'd be able to re-battle the characters from GS such as the Johto and Kanto Gym leaders (and maybe even Red, if he comes out of his cave...). Let's talk about it.
  23. Introduction All right, so I somewhat got bored of OU and I want to try UU. However, as you all know, I'm terrible at making teams that can support each other and whatnot. And most of you know that I love to make teams that are good with stalling and come out on top with indirect damage. I have other Pokemon that may replace certain Pokemon and all. Without further ado, please rate my team! The Team [sprite]208[/sprite] Luster the Steelix@Leftovers Male Impish Nature Rock Head 252 HP/120 Atk/136 SpDef (yes, it's Smogon's set, other than maxing out HP, I don't know the reason for the other two) - Stealth Rock - Stone Edge - Earthquake - Explosion Steelix is my lead, and as usual, I try to set up Stealth Rocks in the field. I realize Steelix is weak on the special side and will be promptly OHKO'd by Flamethrowers or Surfs, but the leads I've met were usually physical and therefore will have a tough time taking this Iron Snake down. Once I lay out the rocks, I either start attacking with Stone Edges and Earthquakes, explode if I think his job is done, or I switch out, saving him later for another time. He's been effective for the most part, but I have to watch out for Magnet Pull Probopasses, which like to switch in, Magnet Rise so Earthquake won't affect me, and Earth Power Steelix to death while Stone Edge does pitiful damage against him. Weaknesses: Water, Fire, Ground, Fighting Resistances: Normal, Flying, Rock, Bug, Ghost, Psychic, Dark, Dragon, Steel Immunities: Poison, Electric Accomplishments: Defeated Purugly, Solrock, Gengar, and Mamoswine [sprite]097[/sprite] Tapir the Hypno@Leftovers Female Calm Nature Insomnia 252 HP/56 Def/200 SpDef - Wish - Thunder Wave - Reflect - Seismic Toss Hypno is my main special wall. With HP/Def/SpDef of 374/190/347, she's sure to take hits, and adding reflect can help her tank physical attacks too. Wish is my main method of supporting the team with an instant recovery move while Thunder Wave hurts sweepers by slowing them down to dust (my team is filled with slowpokes). Seismic Toss is there for consistency, but I do have some problems. Hypno tends to die very often from stuff like Sweeper Clamperl and whatnot and usually I'm left with very little health to use Wish with. Perhaps I'll need room for Protect? Any suggestions? Weaknesses: Bug, Ghost, Dark Resistances: Fighting, Psychic Immunities: None Accomplishments: Defeated sweeper Clamperl, Raticate [sprite]031[/sprite] Regina the Nidoqueen@Leftovers Female Impish Nature Poison Point 252 HP/96 Atk/160 Def - Toxic Spikes - Crunch - Superpower - Earthquake Nidoqueen is my main bulky ground and can do plenty of things in UU. Firstly, her movepool is so large people won't know what to expect. I went all physical, but you can make a suggestion here to go mixed or special if you want. She can also tank hits from Fighters and others, which is really needed here. If she has nothing better to do, she can Toxic Spikes if needed, although it doesn't work too well in UU. I think her role is largely redundant with Steelix, so I'll need help here :-/ Maybe I'll go with Nidoking, I'm not sure... Weaknesses: Water, Ground, Ice, Psychic Resistances: Fighting, Poison, Bug, Rock Immunities: Electric Accomplishments: Defeated Gallade, Rampardos, and Nidoking in one battle [sprite]323[/sprite] Humphrey the Camerupt@Leftovers Male Modest Nature Solid Rock 228 HP/72 SpA/208 SpDef - Yawn - HP Grass - Earth Power - Heat Wave So here is my beloved camel of doom! He's supposed to be very efficient at walling stuff, but for some reason, he loves to get critical'd by random things every single time. Here's how he works: he yawns stuff, forces them to switch or stay and fear Camerupt's powerful attacks. Heat Wave and Earth Power are his main STAB options, and HP Grass is there for coverage against Quagsires and bulky waters who think they can switch in with impunity. But even then, I'd switch him out instead. I think I have way too many Electric immunes (I get very paranoid about electric Pokemon, but then again, when do I see them other than in OU?) If you guys can think of a replacement, please say so! But this camel's too cool Weaknesses: 1.5x to Ground, and a 3x to Water! Resistances: Fire, Bug, Steel, Poison Immunities: Electric Accomplishments: Kept on dying, kept getting Critical'd... and defeated Mothim @_@ [sprite]071[/sprite] Vicky the Victreebel@Salac Berry Female Adamant Nature Chlorophyll 76 HP/252 Atk/180 Speed <--- outspeeds base 60s - Swords Dance - Return - Sucker Punch - Leaf Blade With Stealth Rocks and/or Toxic Spikes around, Victreebel shouldn't have a hard time switching into something she resists and set up Swords Dance and start sweeping. We have STAB Leaf Blade, which unlike its predecessor Sludge Bomb, it actually gets type coverage. There's Sucker Punch in case something likes to be smart and try a priority move. Return is just there for coverage, although Body Slam might work for that chance of paralysis, but I don't know if that's worth the power drop. Salac Berry works well if Victreebel is low in health... and then she can proceed to sweep. I realize her friends Vileplume and Bellossom are more bulkier and more fit for this team (not to mention they use special attacks, which my team needs more, I think)... so do you think Victreebel should stay or go? Weaknesses: Fire, Ice, Flying, Psychic Resistances: Grass, Fighting, Water, Electric Immunities: None Accomplishments: Swept Kingler, Skuntank, Lunatone, Gastrodon... and defeated Probopass [sprite]009[/sprite] Tortoise the Blastoise@Leftovers Male Bold Nature Torrent 252 HP/220 Def/36 Speed <--- outspeeds 200 speeders by 1 point - Rapid Spin - Toxic - Protect - Surf Yay my favorite starter! This guy is what makes thing so SLOOOOOWWWW. Toxic hits things not Steel or Poison types to slowly sap away their HP while Blastoise proceeds to wall them, weaken them with Surf, and Protect for a free turn of Leftovers recovery. Rapid Spin spins away those rocks, which I really need (although none of my team is particularly weak to it), but those rocks can make a difference between a 3HKO and a 2HKO. I might want to keep him in... and I have plenty of grass and electric resists/immunes in this team to back him up. Weaknesses: Electric, Grass Resistances: Steel, Fire, Water, Ice Immunities: None Accomplishments: Defeated Probopass, Drifblim, and Gastrodon If some of these Pokemon don't seem to work well in my team, please pick one of these in this list to replace them if needed. In my eyes, these are UU for now (the classical one); I refuse to use Smogon's UU right now because it's all screwed up. Milotic and Spiritomb in UU? No way! I even have NU and some popular NFEs in this team too... If anyone wants to test out UU with me or whatnot these are the ones I'm allowing for now:

  25. This is a UU rain team designed for UU alone. Currently 4-1 in shoddy smogon UU ladder, this team has been moderately working for me. In those 5 matches, I've noticed that Omastar gets outsped even with Swift Swim, that those 8 turns of rain dance are too short, and I need to remember that neutral STAB + rain water moves can be more powerful then SE moves depending on the situation. Omastar generally goes down extremely early game, so I need to focus on keeping him alive. On with the team. --- Spiritomb @Damp Rock Careful | Pressure 252 HP / 140 Atk / 116 SpD Sucker Punch / Rain Dance / Taunt / Pain Split This is my starter, RS blocker, psychic counter, and anti-setup all in one. Not only that, but he sets up rain dance. Damp Rock goes hand in hand with Rain Dance. The EVs are from smogon, and supposedly Sucker Punch has a chance of OHKOing Azelf. Sucker Punch helps make up for his pathetic speed. Pain Split works wonderfully with his low HP to provide fairly good recovery. Taunt works well against psychics who attempt to set up on him, and can be an effective anti-trick room, which I noticed rips this team apart. Ludicolo @Leftovers Adamant | Swift Swim 4 Def / 252 Atk / 252 Spe Swords Dance / Waterfall / Seed Bomb / Ice Punch Yes, a physical Ludicolo. Why? Because I have an exceedingly effective special sweeper that can abuse a higher special attack, and no one expects it. Swords Dance is the main reason this set is more useful then a special set as with quick setup and rain, he'll outspeed most threats and have an extremely powerful aresenal of moves. My Rain Dancers should be enough to make it so rain dance isn't a necessity on this set. Waterfall and Seed Bomb are powerful STABs, and Ice Punch gives excellent coverage against dragon types such as Altaria that might pose a threat with CB or DD Outrage to his mediocre defense stat. Main strategy with him is to only leave him out with rain. If I'm getting stalled, switch him out ASAP because without Swift Swim he has virtually no realistic use. Swords Dance and abuse Swift Swim to sweep. Lack of priority moves in UU makes this set work wonders. Gardevoir @Damp Rock Calm | Trace 252 HP / 120 SpD / 136 Spe Rain Dance / Memento / Will-o-wisp / Focus Blast The use of this set over Uxie is fairly obvious. Firstly, it can actually attack. Thats nice. Focus Blast adds a fighting type move to this team, which is great as a counter to a lot of pokemon, and enables Gardevoir to have an extremely powerful attacking move that can deal a lot of damage to common switch-ins. Secondly, Gardevoir can cripple incoming physical sweepers with Will-o-wisp. The use of that is obvious. Finally, the Rain Dance - Memento combo. Probably one of the reasons I chose this set. Lategame, it can be hard to find a niche for a sweeper to set up. Ludicolo is too frail to find a good turn to switch in and set up in the lategame. Gardevoir can switch into a special attacker and set up 8 turn Rain Dance, which is crucial to the function of a sweeper Ludicolo. Then, she can use Memento to suicide and dramatically reduce the usefulness of any pokemon, which almost guarantees a switch. And even if the opponent doesnt switch, the damage will be minimal. This almost guarantees that Ludicolo will have an opportunity to set up Swords Dance and proceed to (hopefully) sweep and enjoy the lack of priority moves in the UU metagame. Issues with this set is that I now entirely lack Stealth Rock, which means Sashers will be troublesome. Omastar @Life Orb Modest | Swift Swim 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe Rain Dance / Surf / Ancientpower / Hidden Power [Grass] Omastar is my Special Sweeper. He also is the third and final Rain Dance setup-er on this team. Rain Dance is extremely important for him as without it he can't really be effecive. Surf is for STAB. Its his main attacking move and will do the bulk of his damage. Ancientpower is a needed rock type move on this team which can do a good job taking care of Ice and Bug types that come in expecting Ice Beam. HP Grass covers fellow water types and ground types. The strategy here is to come in with Rain Dance and sweep. He can set up Rain Dance if the opponent is almost guaranteed to switch. Essentially, abuse Surf STAB + Rain to the fullest with the occasional Ancientpower. Use HP Grass when nessesary. Drapion @Scope Lens Jolly | Sniper 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe Swords Dance / Night Slash / Earthquake / Cross Poison Drapion is my second physical sweeper, but his nearly polar opposite typing and moveset make him a perfect compliment to ludicolo. Swords Dance is an obvious choice, and with his excellent typing, its fairly easy to find a niche for him to use it. Night Slash and Cross Poison are obvious STABs, while Earthquake is for coverage. Scope Lens is to allow more Sniper abuse and is a perfect compliment to Night Slash and Cross Poison's high critical hit rate. The strategy here is to abuse his many resistances and excellent defense to come in easily, Swords Dance, and abuse Sniper and Scope Lens to the fullest. He can easily take care of Psychics and Grass types that my team has no realistic counter for. Ice Fang is possibly a better choice over Cross Poison, but the Sniper abuse is very appealing and my team has Ludicolo with an alternative Ice attack. Luxray @Choice Scarf Jolly | Intimidate 252 Atk / 216 Spe / 40 HP Spark / Ice Fang / Giga Impact / Crunch Luxray's low speed makes Choice Scarf a viable choice. Choice Scarf brings his Speed to 384, allowing him to outspeed all Swellow variants and OHKO with Spark. Spark is for physical STAB, and was chosen over Thunder Fang for accuracy. Ice Fang functions as the second Ice move on this team and works well with the revenge killer ideal of this set. Giga Impact is a very weird move, I agree, but its 150 base power is so much more useful then Return in that it can OHKO most anything thats defensively mediocre and doesnt resist it, and it can be invaluable in the endgame. Crunch for coverage.
