Friend Code (Nintendo Switch)

Friend Code (3DS)

NNID (Wii U)

  1. Pokémon Improved Platinum Base Game:Pokémon Platinum Current Version: Beta 0.1 The Game: -Well, I guess everyone knows the games Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. The Platinum edition is basically the same but with some add-ons like the Batlle Frontier and Gym Leader Rematches. The Improvements: -Most of the Pokemon now have a second ability or have them improved to a more suiting one (Turtwig's family now has Battle Armor/ Eevee has Cute Charm instead of Run Away) -Some Pokemon have new typings more suitable to their appearance (Porygon-Z is now Normal/Ghost / The Eevee-lutions are all now half Normal typed) -You can catch almost every pokemon in the game although I still have to add legendaries, but you can find the legendary dog trio on Route 224, one on each part of the day. -Trainers now have either more Pokemon or better ones, as well as at least 2 levels more an they are almost always evolved so no more level 40 Magnemites. -Pokemon that evolve by trade now evolve by level (mostly 37) or by leveling up holding the item they evolve-trade with. -Some Pokemon now evolve earlier (Aron->Lairon lv.28/ Lairon_>Aggron lv.40/ Glameow->Purugly lv.34) -Gym Leaders are improved (still WIP) -You can find starters scattered in Sinnoh, but each generation keeps the 3 together somewhere. Each generation has a different level (1st-lv.5/2nd-lv.15/3rd-lv.10/4th-lv.20) Screenshots: http://imageshack.us/f/585/cherubi.png/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/11/fightbuneary.png/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/255/mudkipz.png/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/211/pidgeyx.png/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/267/pokemonimprovedplatinum.png/ I'll add a Document with Rosters of trainers and Pokemon locations as well as the Gym Leader Roster. Sidenotes: -I accept all suggestions but keep in mind that I still have a lot to learn -If you're good at adding In-Game Events such as legendaries and Pokemon giveaways and want to help this project, then you're totally welcome! -I'll try to keep the updates coming so don't rush me. Downloads: LINKS COMING SOON, HAVING UPLOADING PROBLEMS WITH MEDIAFIRE! To-dos: -Add events(someone caring to help?) -Edit some Rosters -Edit GL and E4 rosters -Make event items obtainable in-game -Edit some Text -Edit Pokemon Movesets -Edit moves(not sure how to though)
  2. While playing the Sol Platinum hack, I discovered a few major bugs that ruined an otherwise well-done game: The Seel/Dewgong line had a movepool glitch at level 65; the player gets stuck in an infinite loop of attempts to learn glitch moves. Legendaries from Generations I-III appeared multiple times; in my first game, I caught Celebi and the Lati@s twins three times each. Not just battled them, but caught them... Since the original hacker is no longer active, I've thought of trying to fix those two bugs myself. How easy would this be for an absolute beginner with an editing tool like PPRE?
  3. I finally got a third-party attack editor to work--sort of. There's a pulldown menu for the side effects of a move (like paralyzimg opponents, lowering the user's stats, firing multiple shots per use). Unfortunately, the choices list only the numerical codes for each side effect. I know that 0 means a move with no special effects added (just the damage plus any out-of-battle uses). But what do the other code numbers mean? If any of you have hacked a Gen IV game yourselves, I would like a list of translations. Thank you very much!
  4. Well, after using the PokeRadar a lot, chaining, and having a few chains seemingly break for no reason, I was hoping to find out what exactly makes it work? I'm familair with ASM, but I'm not sure where I'd start with NDS. If anyone has information on solid evidence for how the PokeRadar works (mostly to keep the chain going, like how it calculates the chances of continuing the chain per patch), please post here.
  5. I'm trying to make a monotype Normal team to compete in a casual monotype tourney. I know of at least one mono Bug team for certain (some of which are also Steel-type) and I strongly suspect at least one mono Fighting (which is obviously problematic). I'm mainly picking Normal for its surprise value, and because Normal-types only have one weakness but can learn many different types of moves. My problem pokemon is Magnezone, but I am willing to switch strategies/pokemon with my Magnezone, Porygon-Z, and Skarmory if need be. Not sure if these are official rules, but we are required to have four pokemon with the same type and are playing with the option to switch out if you KO something and it says, "[Trainer] is about to send out [Pokemon]. Do you want to switch?" I've never played pokemon competitively before. Not that I won't have fun, but I got roped into this entire deal because my brother was in the tourney already and they needed an eighth player -.-' So, this is my absolute, first attempt at team-building, and any advice from anybody would be great! Smeargle @ Focus Sash Nature: Jolly Ability: Own Tempo EVs: 0 HP / 252 Spd Role: Lv. 1 (Suicide) Lead -Spore -Endeavor -Trick Room -Dragon Rage Well, what else was I gonna have him do? Smeargle is out here as a suicide lead. He should at least be able to take out or severely weaken the opposing lead, which should hopefully discourage entry hazards or weather conditions, since Normal-types are damaged by all of them (three of my pokemon are holding Leftovers just in case, though). ----------------------------- Snorlax @ Leftovers Nature: Careful Ability: Thick Fat EVs: 188 HP / 104 Def / 216 SpDef Role: Curse/Wall -Curse -Body Slam -Fire Punch -Rest Snorlax is here as both a wall and, to some extent, a wall-breaker. Curse is used here in case my Smeargle gets off a Trick Room and I have an extra turn to set up. Fire Punch + Max Atk IVs should hopefully handle any unwary Bug/Steel-types. ------------------------------ Porygon-Z @ Choice Specs Nature: Timid Ability: Adaptability EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpAtk / 252 Spd Role: Main Special Sweeper -Tri Attack -Hidden Power Fighting (69 base) -Dark Pulse -Trick My team is basically built around this guy. He also has some surprise value because he is not listed on the Smogon OU Tier. Hidden Power Fighting is super-effective on Rock- and Steel-types that resist Normal and double super-effective on Tyranitar (of which I know for a fact there is at least one). Trick is for a sacrifice play if, for example, a Steel-type shows up that Porygon-Z can't take out but Magnezone can. ------------------------------ Togekiss @ Leftovers Nature: Timid Ability: Serene Grace EVs: 252 HP / 20 Def / 236 Spd Role: Support -Encore -Wish -Air Slash -Thunder Wave By the time I get Togekiss out, odds are the other guy will have figured out that my team is mono Normal and will be expecting a Support/Wall/Stall Blissey instead. Togekiss is not as good as Blissey in many ways, but won't be taken down so easily by Fighting-types because of its typing and its super-effective, flinchy Air Slash. I'm considering nicknaming her, "BLISSEY." ------------------------------ Skarmory @ Leftovers Nature: Impish Ability: Keen Eye EVs: 252 HP / 164 Def / 92 Spd Role: Taunt Lead/Wall -Taunt -Spikes -Whirlwind -Roost Skarmory and Togekiss are my answer to Fighting-types with this team. Skarmory should be able to fend off strong physical attackers with Spikes, Whirlwind, and Roost. Taunt is there to prevent entry hazards--I don't have a Rapid Spinner on my team, so the only way to avoid entry hazards is to prevent them. ------------------------------ Magnezone @ Salac Berry Nature: Nature Ability: Magnet Pull EVs: 28 HP / 252 SpAtk / 228 Spd Role: Secondary Special Sweeper -Substitute -Charge Beam -Thunderbolt -Hidden Power Ice (70 base) Definitely my problem pokemon. Magnezone is my counter to Steel-types and a back-up sweeper in case Porygon-Z is taken out, but he doesn't have all that much else going for him. Getting rid of him, though, would also reduce the usefulness of my Porygon-Z. I'm really having problems with Fighting-types. Machamp still basically destroys my Smeargle, and even though I have my Skarmory (my best bet) with Spikes and Whirlwind, I still have nothing resistant to Fighting. I'll be honest here: What I really wanted was a team that could beat my brother's mono Bug team. I know he has a Scizor, a Heracross, and a Forretress, and possibly a Heatran as well. So, I wanted A) A team built around Porygon-Z, whom I believe is underrated, B) A team that can beat my brother's team in round 2, C) A team with enough coverage to survive round 1, and D) A team without Blissey, because I just don't like her for some reason. However, I'm perfectly willing to swallow my pride and switch out my Porygon-Z for a Blissey if the people here think that is really my best option (although if my team desperately needs a Blissey, I would really prefer to switch out my gimmicky Smeargle for one). Either way, I'll probably end up with a Blissey like: Blissey @ Leftovers Nature: Bold Ability: Natural Cure EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spd Role: Support -Wish -Protect -Seismic Toss -Toxic This would effectively replace my current Togekiss's role, so if replacing Porygon-Z, I would need to make Togekiss a sweeper, maybe something like: Togekiss @ Life Orb Nature: Timid Ability: Serene Grace EVs: 192 HP / 80 SpAtk / 236 Spd Role: Special Sweeper -Nasty Plot -Air Slash -Fire Blast -Aura Sphere This sweeper has similar coverage as the Porygon-Z it is replacing, and is significantly bulkier to boot. If switching out my Smeargle, I wouldn't necessarily need a Togekiss Sweeper, so I'd go with: Togekiss @ Leftovers Nature: Bold Ability: Serene Grace EVs: 252 HP / 188 Def / 68 SpDef Role: Paralyzer and Flincher -Air Slash -Thunder Wave -Aura Sphere -Roost A Togekiss whose main purpose is to stall while making it easier for my Porgon-Z to sweep by slowing down or even taking out the competition (i.e. Fighting-types or Bug-types weak to Air Slash). I'd then probably need like an Azelf Lead more than a Skarmory: Azelf @ Colbur Berry Nature: Jolly Ability: Levitate EVs: 8 HP / 140 Atk / 144 SpDef / 216 Spd Role: (Anti-Machamp) Lead -Stealth Rock -Taunt -U-turn -Explosion A set that Smogon swears will beat out Machamp Leads, which makes it preferable over Smeargle vs. a mono Fighting team. It can also prevent entry hazards, which is again useful due to the lack of a Rapid Spinner on my team.
  6. I have run into a strange problem with PokeGen. I'm pretty sure its with PokeGen because I've meticulously ruled out everything else. Here's what is happening: It has been a month since I last used any save state editors for a Pokemon game, including PokeGen. The last time I did so, I didn't have any problems. Then, yesterday, I used my NDS Adaptor Plus to load save files from my SoulSilver and Platinum versions. I then created a copy of each of those saves to use for a little editing (I always keep a copy of the latest save that was known to work without any issues). I proceeded to edit a few things in PokeGen. In the Platinum save, I duplicated a Carvanha that was in one of my PC Boxes, and placed the duplicate into another box. On SoulSilver, I duplicated a Happiny from one box to another, as well as duplicating a shiny Misdreavus that I was lucky enough to have caught in the Safari Zone. My intention was to evolve the Happiny with an Oval Stone, and to trade the Misdreavus to Platinum in exchange for the Carvanha I had duplicated in that game. Here's where things get weird: I transferred the edited saves back to the proper game cards (which are retail versions bought brand new in North America, not R4 cards or something like that) and then booted the games, SoulSilver in my DS Lite and Platinum in my 3DS. They started up fine, with no problems whatsoever. I then moved the aforementioned pokemon from their respective PC Boxes into each game's party, and proceeded to enter the Union Room. However, the moment I walked one character (SoulSilver's) over to the Platinum character and pressed "A" to talk to him, both games displayed a blue screen that read something like this: (SoulSilver) "A communication error has occurred. Press A to return to the title screen." The message for Platinum was longer, but essentially said the same thing, except that it kicked me back to the Union Room instead of the title screen. Needless to say, since I've never had any problem like this before with save state editors, I initially suspected the problem lay with the 3DS. So, I shut off both games, and moved Platinum over to my brother's DS Lite. I repeated the trade attempt, only to get the same error message at the exact same point in the process. After that, I began to suspect a PokeGen problem. So I turned off both games, put them back in the NDS Adaptor Plus, and transferred the unedited game saves I had made at the beginning of this whole process. Then I put each game in a DS Lite and tried to trade once more. This time, I didn't get the error. I was somewhat relieved, but also puzzled. So I created new copies of my latest working saves, and edited them again with PokeGen, this time being careful not to accidentally click or change anything other than what I wanted to change. I put the games back in the systems, and entered the Union Room a third time, and as soon as I pressed "A" on the other character, I received the exact same error as before. This made me suspect a problem with PokeGen even more, because the error didn't occur when I used game saves that hadn't been edited within the last month or so, and it did occur when I used game saves that had been edited that same day. So, once again, I restored the known working game saves to their proper versions, and then proceeded to create two new copies of them, this time with Pokesav. I performed the very same edits as I had with PokeGen, then saved my work, transferred the edited saves to the game cards, and entered the Union Room for fourth time. This time, I was able to trade with no problems at all. Needless to say, I'm thoroughly confused. I hope this bug report will help me fix this problem, because I've come to prefer working in PokeGen instead of Pokesav, especially for Black and White, because my BW Pokesav doesn't have English names for Pokemon, items, places, etc. Anyway, here is some additional info to help figure this out. My version of PokeGen: 3.0.5 Operating System: Windows XP Pro with all the latest updates and working, up-to-date antivirus software Hardware: Late 2007 Apple Macbook (dual-booting Windows via Apple's Boot Camp) Also, I am including the relevant save files so you can take a look at them: Here's a list of which save file is which: These first two files are the ones that were simply a backup of Platinum and SoulSilver with no edits at all. They are known to cause no problems. Pokemon Platinum JMA 06-16-2012 01.sav Pokemon SoulSilver JMA 06-16-2012 01.sav This second set of files are the ones edited in Pokegen that were causing the communication error in the Union Room. Pokemon Platinum JMA 06-16-2012 01 Edit Pokegen.sav Pokemon SoulSilver JMA 06-16-2012 01 Edit Pokegen.sav This last set of files are the ones that were edited in Pokesav and didn't cause any problems either. Pokemon Platinum JMA 06-16-2012 01 Edit Pokesav.sav Pokemon SoulSilver JMA 06-16-2012 01 Edit Pokesav.sav Pokemon Platinum .sav Pokemon SoulSilv .sav Pokemon SoulSilv .sav Pokemon Platinum .sav Pokemon SoulSilv .sav Pokemon Platinum .sav
  7. Edit: Okay, so I found out how to replace the trainer battle sprites, but now I'm looking for the .narc file for the VS Art and Overworld sprites. If anybody can help me, I'd appreciate it.
  8. I'm using pokesav, and I'm quite new to it but I've came across several things stopping me from making legit pokemon. One was although I put in my sid and trainer id fine it would still say things such as "apparently met at lv.20". For some strange reason one of my old pokemon didn't have this problem so I opened up this file, which had the same sid and trainer id and edited it, saving it as a new pokemon. These new pokemon didn't have this problem anymore. I found on this site a "legality checker" and thought to try it out. I tried my first working pokemon and I don't know why but it says it's fake... Does anyone know how I can make my pokemon not "apparently met" without editing my old working pokemon and also, using the picture below tell my what's wrong with it? Right, it's something to do with how I allegedly got the pokemon- hatched pokemon are not hacked apperently... So I will look into that. Still need help with the "apperently met" situation. Edit 2: It's not how I got them I think it's the PID, although when I fix the PID it tells me "Never seen this. B-A-C-E [unrestricted]"
  9. In land_data.narc the length of the second block is supposed to be multiple of 0x30. This is true for all maps except for nr 483 (m_dun2405_00_01c). It has the lenght 146(0x92) instead of 144(0x90). That means there are 3 buildings and two additional bytes (0x0d 0x0a) Why?! (I use the Pokemon Diamond ROM)
  10. New and improved BTX Editor 2.0 http://www.mediafire.com/file/49nycebcfywyh2y/BTXE old post
  11. Just finished reading the various guides/FAQs on PokeSav and I just have a few basic questions. First off, I am working with an Action Replay DSi and my DS Lite (the instructions say you can use the DSi AR with DS Lite). I am not interested in generating codes though - I'm really only interested in backing up my save file and transferring a copy to my PC to PokeSav. I am running into an issue though and wanted to confirm that I am doing this correct. Here's what I am doing: Insert AR into my DS Lite Insert 256MB Micro SD Memory Card into AR Insert Pokemon Platinum Turn on DS - AR screen loads Select Saves and follow the on-screen options to make a back-up of my save file. This results in a .duc file being saved to the memory card. At this stage, I just want to move the .duc to my PC so I can convert it into a .sav file. I am running Windows 7 64 bit and have installed the correct drivers for my AR but I would expect to see the device listed when I go to Computers but it's not there No worries, I think. I just pop the Micro SD in my cell phone and email the .duc file to myself and download it to my PC Coverted the duc. to a .sav file by going to http://shunyweb.info/convert.php Open PokeSav for Platinum Open .sav file Ok, here is where I run into a problem. Rather than seeing my party pokemon, trainer name, id, etc..., I just see a bunch of nonsense. My .sav file is 512KB and I have "512KB" selected under Save File Size. Am I doing something wrong? I went to GameFAQs and downloaded one of the .duc files and tried to convert it the same way and that worked. So did I backup my save file incorrectly?
  12. Sorry guys but the results are in and this isn't working. I don't know what else to try so consider this project dead until further notice. The following is kept for informational purposes only: MUST-READ: There are several important pieces of information that you should be aware of here: I recommend that you DO NOT use the method I am going to detail here. This method is potentially risky and much more restricting than simply using a save editor (which I do recommend). This requires your copy of D/P/Pt/HG/SS to be retail; no flashcards. This requires at least one DS "Phat" or DS Lite. The second DS can be any model DS, as long as it will run Black/White from a flashcard. This requires that you flash the firmware of your DS "Phat" or Lite. Flashing carries an inherent risk of bricking your device and/or voiding your warranty. I am not responsible if that happens. That said, I have flashed my DS without a problem and will provide guidance for you. Firmware can be flashed back to its untouched state later. If after reading the above bulleted items, for whatever reason, you still want to try this method, follow the step-by-step instructions below. For now the modifications I've made are only available as part of Project Pokemon's English translation patch. Make sure you have applied the latest version from here to your B/W ROM. Just let me know if this doesn't meet your needs. Now we need to flash your DS "Phat"/Lite. Download FlashMe from here and place it on your flashcards's microSD(HC). Make sure your flashcard is in the Phat/Lite you want to flash. Boot your flashcard and run FlashMe. As it will tell you, you should plug in the charger before continuing. Once that's done press x+b twice. Now you'll see a new paragraph followed by a line reading "Progress:" ... If the progress percentage goes right to 100 and you get a new paragraph saying it's safe to turn of the DS, you're done. Most likely in that last step you didn't make it past 0%. If that's the case, get out a small Phillips screwdriver and a small flathead screwdriver. Use the Phillips to open up the battery compartment of your DS. Depending on if you have a Phat or Lite, you will see something like this: The part circled in red might have a bit of paper stuck over it, you will have to remove it. You can either discard it or try to stick it back when you're done. Now you have exposed the SL1 terminal (circled in red). As FlashMe says, we need to short this. Use your flathead screwdriver to bridge the two sides. Make sure you're applying constant, firm (but not hard) pressure on the screwdriver. Flip your DS around, still holding the screwdriver in place, and have another look at the percentage. It should be progressing upwards now. If it pauses don't panic, just adjust the screwdriver a bit and it should continue. Continue holding the screwdriver until you get a message that it is safe to turn off the DS. Turn it off and you're done flashing. You can ditch the screwdriver and put your battery cover back on. Upon turning on your DS again you'll notice that the health and safety screen is gone, this is normal. You can now PokeShift/Transfer Machine as you normally would, only with an English game. Just make sure the English game is in your flashed DS and your B/W is patched as mentioned in step one. Enjoy! Technical Note (You don't need to read this.) Some folks out there might be wondering why it's necessary to flash the client DS. After all, nobody has needed to flash a DS since practically the beginning of time right? Well, as you probably know B/W uses download play for cross-generation communication. That brought in an ancient problem in respect to editing the regions. The region is of course specified in the download play ROM (which is inside and sent from the B/W ROM); problem is, Nintendo decided in developing the original DS that all download play ROMs must be RSA signed to prevent unauthorized code execution. Lucky for me there was an ancient solution to this ancient problem: flashing, which removes the RSA signature check from the DS's firmware, freeing it to run my slightly modified ROM. =) I'd like to give a big thanks to to those who worked on FlashMe and its custom firmware; this wouldn't be possible without them.
  13. So, when using PPRE to edit trainers, there is a 0Ch value. Does anyone have any specific details on it? A while back, Alpha and I speculated that it could be trainer difficulty, because of the values in it we noticed: - 1 (most trainers) - 3 (Falkner) - 5 (Chuck, and some other trainers) - 7 (most Gym leaders, some regular trainers, etc) - 33 (a random trainer, some pokemaniacs) - 35 (a Rival battle where he has 3 lvl 16-18 Pokemon, and another where he has 4, around lvl 20) There may even be some trainers in the 60s or 70s.... Schookid Sherman or something? Does anyone have any further details on this or experience with how it affects things in-game? If they are the difficulty, do you know what specifically it changes? (AI, IVs?) And to what degree? I may do some more research and experimenting myself later this week.
  14. i've always enjoyed the wifi music when going on wifi in diamond and pearl... is there a code that makes the pokemon center music to the wifi room music when on wifi? i don't know if this a sort of a request but i figured a code could be arranged.. thanks in advance.
  15. Alright. I bought the Action Replay DSi and backed up my Pokemon Platinum save. It has the extension ".duc". This apparently isn't usable in the Platinum Pokesav. So I went to the Shuny site (Save Converter site) and tried converting it to a few save files... they were opened up, but everything was completely wrong on the PokeSav application. No Pokemon, random play times, no inventory, no pokemon in my PC box, etc. It was just random mixed up stuff. Could someone please help me figure out what I should do so I can use Pokesav? Thank you.
  16. Deciphering data/fielddata/mapmatrix/map_matrix.narc in Diamond/Pearl's contents. I would appreciate it if anyone that has looked into it before provide their insight. And if you figured out the structure of the contents, I'd appreciate it if you could post it here. I do know the structure of a NARC file, I'm looking into the contents of the map_matrix.narc file. If Alpha reads this, SCV said that you might know more about map_matrix.narc's contents. Shoutout.
  17. Hi. I downloaded some .PKMN files and used Pokesav Platinum to make AR codes, for use in Pokemon Platinum. The codes added in a few event Pokes to the first slots in my Box 1. When I start the game I press L+R and look in my box, and they're all there, but there's also a bunch "ghost eggs" that can't be clicked on and disappear when I switch boxes. When I try to save the game, it says "save error" Any help is MUCHO appreciated.
  18. i want to insert faces as part of an OT but I don't know how to on pokesav. can anyone help me out with this? thanks ps. for those who don't know, the faces i'm talking about is the little face characters on the typing pad on the "Others" tab ---------- Post added at 06:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:59 PM ---------- this is a reference picture for you guys. http://www.spriters-resource.com/ds/pkmndiamondpearl/sheet/6963
  19. I accidentally posted this in the wrong section. But I've got it right now. And before anyone says otherwise, this is my competitive team, not in-game (though it works there too.) Anyway, here they are: Blaziken (male) Nature: Jolly Ability: Blaze Item: Scope Lens Moves: Blaze Kick Shadow Claw Thunderpunch Sky Uppercut EVs: 252 ATK / 252 SPEED Stats: HP: 301 Atk: 339 Def: 176 Sp.Atk:230 Sp.Def: 176 Speed: 284 Gardevoir (female) Nature: Timid Ability: Synchronize Item: Lum Berry Moves: Psychic Calm Mind Focus Blast ThunderboltEVs: 188 SP.ATK / 64 DEF / 252 SPEED Stats: HP: 277 Atk: 149 Def: 182 Sp.Atk: 333 Sp.Def: 266 Speed: 284 Salamence (male) Nature: Jolly Ability: Intimidate Item: Yache Berry Moves: Outrage Fly Fire Blast (may replace with Fire Fang) Dragon Dance Stats: EVs: 252 ATK / 252 SPEED HP: 331 Atk: 369 Def: 196 Sp.Atk: 230 Sp.Def: 196 Speed: 328 Roserade (female) Nature: Timid Ability: Natural Cure Item: Black Sludge Moves: Energy Ball Shadow Ball Sludge Bomb Sleep Powder EVs: 190 SP. I'm not sure how to calculate EVs, but what I have listed are my closest estimates. Oh, and one thing, I don't like to teach two of my team pokemon the same moves, or give them the same items. Its kind of my style.
  20. Congratulate me... just kidding. I wouldn't end a topic just like that. You saw it coming... another WALL of text [sprite]389[/sprite] Mew2 the Torterra (M) @ Soft Sand Sassy Nature Level 53 Starter Pokemon - Crunch - Leech Seed - Razor Leaf - Earthquake I could have replaced Razor Leaf with Wood Hammer... but in-game, that is not ideal. Yes people, I picked Torterra... and I am well aware Infernape makes the game easier... WAY easier. Torterra has this advantage over the other Grass starters by learning things that are normally hereditary moves naturally. Look at Leech Seed, Synthesis, Crunch... and Leaf Storm! And it even learns Earthquake naturally! That is really good! It is very defensive as well and can hit quite hard with Wood Hammer or Earthquake... and Crunch for those Ghosts (Bite in early game). His ONLY problem is that REALLY slow speed... he slows the game down too. Not used to going second all the time? Too bad, this isn't RBY/GSC anymore where your starters had reasonable speed to deal with in-game matters. After the introduction of Swampert, they started making slow starters... and Torterra here is even slower. Yeah I know... the inability to run away from Starlies early game really blows. But later on, he becomes quite the asset. [sprite]164[/sprite] Feedlstick the Noctowl (F) Hasty Nature <--- FAIL Keen Eye <--- MORE FAIL Level 52 Eterna Forest/Level 12 - Hypnosis - Roost - Extrasensory - Air Slash I replaced Staraptor with this thing... BLASPHEMY! I know... Staraptor is infinitely superior... so guys stick with Staraptor. But I like this wise owl... and I actually wanted to try it out. It is a shame though... it wasn't very useful in Elite 4... but before that, it was pretty useful for Hypnosis and Reflect... which helped support the team. But learning Roost at level 52? That's unacceptable by my standards... and having Take Down as its primary move was not a good thing either. For a special attacking bird this thing sure has a lot of physical moves in its movelist. Extrasensory came in too late to help me anyhow... when I really needed it back when Team Galactics were using stuff like Golbats and Sneasels and Houndours and Stunkys and... oh wait... most of them are dark types! Never mind ^^ Real men use Noctowls [sprite]419[/sprite] W.Fox the Floatzel (M) @ Mystic Water Brave Nature <--- WHAT THE HECK???? Level 53 Valley Windworks/Level 10 - Surf - Waterfall - Crunch - Ice Punch Ok... this is one of the better Pokemon in game... and I'm stuck with the lousy BRAVE NATURE??? BOO. I received Ice Punch by move tutor using shards. I replaced the vastly inferior Ice Fang with it. If you did not pick Piplup as your starter, get one of these. Really, they are amazing because they are really fast, are offensively powerful on both sides of the spectrum, and can learn things to abuse them like Ice Beam and Waterfall and Crunch. Its speed is even more ridiculous in the rain... doubling, making it overkill. Other water Pokemon you can resort with include Shellos or Magikarp (yes that thing becomes Gyarados), but Buizel is available to you with more offensively oriented stats. Problem is... his defenses are bad... yeah, watch out for that. [sprite]136[/sprite] Blackout the Flareon (F) Quirky Nature Level 51 Hearthome City/Level 20 - Quick Attack - Fire Fang - Flamethrower - Fire Blast Yes, I evolved Eevee into a Flareon, now stop flaming me! (no pun intended). I evolved her quite late though because I thought Adaptibility + Quick Attack was just too awesome. I mean I get to 2HKO Kadabras with that! Originally I had Bite, but I found Fire Blast too inefficient in-game because it missed a lot and ran out too often. Also it never seems to OHKO stuff that are weak to it. Come on... Flareon gets STAB on that thing!! Anyhow Flareon is surprisingly quite effective in game. It is quite the powerhouse and blows stuff up just like what a regular pyromaniacal Eevee would do. If it were not for Flareon, I would have NEVER got past Candice... PERIOD. Fire Fang 2HKOd Volkner's Jolteon... and both were evenly leveled. Heh heh [sprite]123[/sprite] Saimir the Scyther (M) @ Silverpowder Sassy Nature <--- NOT GOOD Level 53 Technician <--- ^^ Route 215/Level 20 - Wing Attack - Agility - X-Scissor - Night Slash It was all thanks to this guy I beat Maylene... and my Crobat too. The other Pokemon I had were too wimpy Anyways, this guy is one of the best Pokemon you can find in game... but the GAME GIVES ME A (-) SPEED NATURE SWEEPING POKEMON AGAIN. ARGH! They are quite rare unlike Buizel and getting the better of the two abilities is also quite hard. Not to mention they have a REALLY low catch rate. Anyhow, Scyther is just purely awesome. I kept Wing Attack ever since it got it... and it did insane damage to everything... even OHKOing many of them. How it failed to OHKO Aaron's Yanmega is beyond me Scyther is possibly my most useful Pokemon in this game up to date. [sprite]475[/sprite] spaling the Gallade (M) @ Mind Plate Quirky Nature Level 51 Route 212/Level 24 - Swords Dance - Psycho Cut - Night Slash - Leaf Blade 51 levels and it STILL didn't learn Close Combat... Anyhow I caught a male Kirlia and I wondered what to do with it. Then I found a Dawn Stone and said "Okay let's save this poor male Kirlia from all the embarassment and the cross dressing and evolve it ASAP" and I did that. Now this thing is the amazing tutu wearing gladiator! . . . tutu? Oh man! COME ON GAMEFREAK! Anyhow this guy is powerful and Swords Dance is just amazing. I wish Scyther learned that earlier... but the problem with Gallade is that it just is not fast enough. But after a Swords Dance it eats everything up. STAB Psycho Cut is amazing... and the other two moves are great too. In fact, all three have high critical hit ratio... which NEVER seems to work for me > To get Leaf Blade or Night Slash, go Heart Scale them. But frankly, the elemental punches work better... and Close Combat will do more than Super Effective elemental punches on stuff anyhow... unless the latter was 4x effective. Still, this guy is great... but he's quite fragile for some reason... even more so than I expected. A common theme in this team seems to be "strong physical attackers with sub-par speed with good special defense but horrid physical defense"... except Noctowl doesn't have the "strong physical attack" part and Scyther and Floatzel does not have "good special defense". Yes, only Floatzel... ONLY FLOATZEL survived the onslaught in the end. Epic Wins: After 2 rare candies, Scyther finally OHKOs Yanmega with Wing Attack Scyther OHKOs Heracross with Wing Attack Scizor eats a Flamethrower from Flareon... Flareon survived its Night Slash Flareon leaves Vespiquen with 1 HP with Fire Blast... oh wait, that's a fail. But at least Flareon won on that match unlike Noctowl. Floatzel sweeps 3 out of 5 members of Bertha's team (Gallade took care of Whiscash, Floatzel loses to Hippowdon >.<) Floatzel sweeps 4 out of 5 members of Flint's team... survives Infernape's Thunderpunch. Scyther OHKOs Mr Mime with X-Scissor, OHKOs Gallade with Wing Attack, OHKOs Espeon with X-Scissor (but not before Espeon hits Scyther with a powerful Psychic, forcing it to switch). Flareon's Fire Blast MISSES the OHKO on Bronzong... wait that still sucks. Oh yeah, after the Full Restore, Fire Fang 2HKOs Bronzong (O_O). So you may think Flareon's Fire Fang would do a lot to Alakazam... see below in the failures what REALLY happened. Spiritomb outstalled by Torterra Gallade Sword Dances and Psycho Cut critical hits against that blasted Togekiss Floatzel outspeeds Lucario and finishes it off with Waterfall Milotic is weakened by Floatzel and beaten by Scyther's Wing Attack Scyther OHKOs Roserade with Wing Attack Garchomp ravages through my team... wait no that's bad! Final resort Floatzel... is outpaced by Garchomp (GRRR)... but survives the Dragon Rush and OHKOs Garchomp when it had 75% of its HP left! Makes me wonder how Gliscor survived it better when it was lower leveled. Floatzel wins me the match Blunders: Scyther failing to OHKO Yanmega with Technician Wing Attack while Yanmega ate up Scyther with a single Air Slash (left Scyther with 8 HP, but thanks to Speed Boost and Aaron cheating with Full Restore... you know)... therefore I shoved 2 Rare candies up Scyther's throat just so it would. Noctowl getting walled by Vespiquen even after flinch haxxing with Air Slash... lame. Air Slash would only 3HKO and won't even shave off 50% of Vespiquen's HP. I let it get 6 Defend Orders and Air Slash's PP were depleted afterwards. Restarted right after. Drapion freeze haxxing/flinch haxxing Torterra every time with Ice Fang... and when it didn't, it would critical. Me blundering for putting Miracle Seed instead of Soft Sand... because with the latter EQ would OHKO. Otherwise it would end up with Drapion with a sliver of its HP left while I have no choice but to spam Full Restores and wait for that eventual critical hit... and Ice Fang never missed >.> Floatzel failing to OHKO Gliscor with Ice Punch (it only took like 50%ish) Floatzel failing to OHKO Hippowdon (then last Pokemon of Bertha), then Hippowdon finishing off weakened Floatzel with Crunch Floatzel failing to outspeed Infernape and failing to OHKO with Waterfall with Brave Nature... COME ON. Floatzel Waterfalling Magmortar when it had 3 HP... only to get a parting gift in form of Flame Body. Whoops Mr. Mime surviving Floatzel's Crunch... and sets up Reflect. I promptly restart because Reflect would screw me over. I switch lead to Scyther instead. Flareon survives Alakazam's Psychic and uses Fire Fang... which should have killed or gotten to red HP... of course RNG is unfavorable for me and leaves Alakazam with ~47% of its HP!!! Knowing Quick Attack wouldn't finish it off, I switch to Noctowl... to eat a Focus Blast which HITS, lowers Special Defense... and criticals all at once. Lame Spiritomb winning the speed tie on Torterra on EVERY single occassions... except once when it wasn't even that critical. Floatzel coming to revenge kill a Togekiss... who took 1 Ice Punch... had 40% of its HP left. Shock Wave didn't finish me... then another Ice Punch... which left Togekiss with 2% of its HP (WHAT??!!!) Shock Wave finishes Floatzel off. Flareon coming in to revenge kill that said Togekiss with 2% HP. Water Pulse shaves off 50% of Flareon's HP... Fire Fang MISSES. I proceed to Quick Attack... Togekiss SURVIVES. Water Pulse finishes off Flareon... and I promptly restart the game. Me letting Gallade stay in after getting a + 2... using Psycho Cut... hoping it would critical. Well, it wouldn't. Gallade was severly weakened, so you know what happened. 2HKO from Lucario's Shadow Ball. Flareon coming in to revenge kill said Lucario... only to get eaten by a Stone Edge which landed a hit on me >.> Me for getting a Brave nature Floatzel... trust me it isn't pretty at all. All the other Floatzels must be laughing at him So how was your first Elite Four experience like? You can open up the enclosed SAV file on Pokesav and see my Pokes. And no I did not name them... the members of Project Pokemon did >.> If you guys took part in it, remember 10 names? How I ended up taking down the E4 with a bunch of ridiculously underleveled Pokemon is beyond me... ok, so there were items. That's about it though. Now that I have the save archived, I will proceed to start a file where I use INFERNAPE as the starter... accompanied by only Staraptor and a few others. This will be easy I will attempt to speedrun this game. xpa-pokm.SAV
  21. Hi, I'm new to these forums. Can someone please help me convert my save file from 1024kb to 512kb? I have a Pokemon Platinum .sav file that that is 1024kb. I am trying to bring it down to 512kb so I can edit it with pokesav. I tried to convert it through http://shunyweb.info/convert.php but I get an error that the upload has failed.
  22. so im new using pokesav and i made my first code perfectly (change my characters name to RYU ) but, now i want to change my absol and dragonite's gender to male (they're both female) but i just cant figure out how to do it, the game crashes when i use the code given, so.....help please EDIT: btw, if this thread belongs to another section please move it
  23. I got that map_matrix stuff done. The extractor is here (exports to MediaWikicode.). Yes, the coding is horrendous, I didn't put much effort to it, it works. /* By AngelSL, remove credits, whatever, as long as it complies with the below */ /* This program is free software: you can redistribute it and/or modify it under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by the Free Software Foundation, either version 3 of the License, or (at your option) any later version. However! I'm not certain whether the file is supposed to be read by column or row, try both. Or derive it from my source ^ Anyway, we can see that the game uses their own internal name. An example is map03_27c which is Twinleaf town. If you extract land_data_release.narc and use "grep map03_27c *" to grep files containing that, you would see that only 1 file contains that aka the file containing Twinleaf's data. What we need to do now is to find where the game stores the map ID/intername/etc to real displayed name stringtable. The game could identify this by map ID, intername, or even index of the entry in land_data_release, or something else.
  24. I've edited my Diamon and Pearl saves to make them have the same name, ID and SID. It's basically the same game as far as other games know. Then I use Pokemon Ranch to do the moving. But, as you know, Ranch (NA) isn't compatible with Platinum. At least not officially. Is using PokeSav my only option? (I don't have 2 working DSs. Phat is dead )
