The purpose of this thread is to find a way to hex edit Gen 3 savegames so that there can be trade between Kanto and Hoenn without having to beat the game. Text in red means help is required. Text in yellow is the explanation. Help: https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Save_data_structure_in_Generation_III Requirements 1) The National Dex must be unlocked in each version. According to Bulbapedia, three fields must be edited: A, B and C. Help needed: Each save seems to have those fields in different places. How can we determine where it starts beforehand, when it's all zeroes? I opened three different NatDex unlocked Emerald saves, and searched for the first field, which should show "01 DA", meaning the NatDex is unlocked. In the first one, 01 DA appeared at offset A019 for Game A and 17019 for Game B; in the second one, it appeared at 6019 and 13019, and in the third one it appeared at C019 and 19019. I cannot search this way with a save that doesn't have the NatDex yet, because instead of "01 DA" there is "00 00", which is everywhere. 2) In FireRed/LeafGreen, The Ruby and Sapphire Sevii Island sidequest must also be completed. Help needed: where are the bytes that determine its completion status? Any collaboration is appreciated in order to make the third gen games more accessible.

I recently bought Pokemon X D - Gale of Darkness at a pawn shop and extracted my save file with my Wii. However, when I try to save my file in any way (Just want to edit my money and PokéCoupons as well as filling the Memo) the software crashes, closes on its own and corrupts the save file by making it totally empty. I tried different versions, but no success... What am I doing wrong? Colosseum works fine, but X D is not working AT ALL. EDIT : I downloaded a random save file, and much to my surprise, it WORKS. But I wanted a save file from the beginning of the game BEFORE snagging Teddiursa... Is it because of this that it is not working? Here is my file and the random dude's file that works. Hey all, I'm trying to pull the memory addresses for the flags that determine if a badge has been earned in all of the Pokémon games. I've managed to get out the pokemon party, etc, but can't find badges. I've done some research and I've gathered links that detail some things about badge memory addresses in RAM (I'm not aware of rules about external linking, but I can post the stuff I've found thus far if I'm allowed). Is there anybody out there that's done this or knows about the badges? I thought I'd start with Gen3 and work my way up. I'm using Lua to pull these out of emulators at the moment. But to no avail. Thanks in advance!

I'm working in a save editor for gen3 games and i'm having trouble with the pkm checksums. I'm using MILOTIC.bin as example/test, it's saved checksum is 0x3408 and the one i calculate is 0x3A02 This is the function I'm using to calculate the checksum: public function calcDataChecksum():UInt { var sum:UInt = 0x00; for (i in 0...24) { var pos = i * 2; sum += [this.data[pos], this.data[pos+1]].toUInt16(); } // truncate to 16-bit sum = sum & 0xFFFF; return sum; } And this is how i'm unencrypting the data: public function decryptData(key:UInt):Array<UInt> { var newData:Array<UInt> = []; // data offset at 32 var offset = 32; var ar = key.fromUInt32(); for (i in 0...48) { newData.push(this.pkm[offset+i] ^ ar[i%4]); } return newData; } Can someone help me find what i'm doing wrong? Thanks

Hi folks, Apologies if this is known, or if it's not even a bug and I just don't know how Gen III works! When I try to set a Female Shiny for a Gen III save file (Fire Red), the gender reverts back to Male or if I select Female and then press the icon for Shiny, it again reverts to Male. Tried this on various Pokémon (Bulbasaur, Pidgey, Dratini). ~FireFox276

1) Are Gen3,4 and 5 PID's randomly chosen from RNG Reporter's pool of PIDs/natures etc.? 2) Is Gen3/4/5 (more importantly Gen5 Mystery Gift Pokemon) Generation automatic (just click reroll) given they are from Gen3-5? 3) Is there a list of pokemon classified as "mystery gift from gen5" or does that just mean all gen5 event pokemon? 4) And lastly, for gen 4 and below, won't generating PID's for pokemon (including event pokemon) technically make them illegal because IV's are linked to nature, ability etc. Wouldn't it be more accurate to look at RNG Reporter and copy/paste the proper IV's, nature, ability, PID?
