answered PokeTEX English and trainer back sprites?
Septfox posted a topic in ROM - NDS Discussion & Help
So, it seems that PokeTEX can open and view back sprites from Platinum, if offsets are provided and the read size is set properly (800x64). I find this quite nifty. The problem I have is twofold; PokeTEX refuses to select blocks for use in the color map larger than 7x8. Now, I'm a decently patient person. If replacing the back sprites requires replacing the stock stuff block by little block, I have no problems. The problem lies in how PokeTEX writes to the sheet---instead of overwriting the 7x8 block that is selected, it replaces the whole section in the sheet - 8x8 blocks - with the 7x8 block I just edited. Rather, it takes the block and streeeeeetches it across that 8x8 section. While this is amusing, it's a bit counter-productive. Is there any way to manually change the block selection size? The only way I know of commiting palette changes is via the Save ROM button next to the sprite map. This causes the above problem to manifest itself...so...is there another way to commit palette changes? As far as I can tell, edits will take if done in PokeTEX...most of the time. But the above problems prevent proper edits :\ (I've mirrored this over at the PokeCommunity, just sayin' so nobody goes "ehhhhhh? o.O" if they see it) -
As the title states i am looking to edit a Pokemon game and wish to know if i'm wasting my time. I'm planning on creating a new island on the bottom right corner of the map i was thinking that after the completion of the pokedex there isn't much to do, so i thought that if i could create a new form of evolution. By giving up 2 matching Pokemon you would get a egg which would hatch into a fusion Pokemon. Just wondering if this is possible, thanks in advance. Sky Blue

Does anyone know which of the editors (provided by Roland) can edit Pokémon stats and move-sets? (For Platinum, specifically)

answered Decrypting and repacking .narc files?

A few questions: Does thenewpoketext only unpack and repack the .msg file? Didn't came with a manual, I pretty much just used common sense and fiddled around with it. When decrypted, I can simply edit the contents, then repack it like a normal text file, yes? Also, if thenewpoketext only does the above, how do you decrypt and repack a .narc file? -
answered A couple questions, and a tool request...

Ok so, I want to change my character's battle and overworld sprites. Actually, not so much change as swap with one of the characters from the Battle Tower. The former should be easy, I imagine. I (finally) found a copy of PokeDSPic Platinum. t'was a pain to find, too. It's here, in case anyone else has problems finding it. Now, the overworld. I've read elsewhere (post 24 to be exact) that sprites can be lightly edited and swapped using a particular version of PokeTex---but THAT, I can't find. Both the Jap and Translated versions I've found will open the ROM, but only display the palette. No sprite appears in the left area, and there's nothing under Extend, so I'm assuming these versions only support Diamond and Pearl. If someone could link me to a working version, I would be really grateful. (and I do know that certain things would be missing, like animations for running and bike riding...I'll worry about those once I can actually, you know, access stuff) Lastly, I'm not an expert by any means in programming and hacking, but...instead of swapping sprites around, couldn't one just change the internal pointers so that they reference one sprite sheet instead of another? It seems like it'd be a lot simpler :\ Edit: it seems what I need most is plist.txt contained in the PokeTex English package that everywhere I look says SHOULD be in the upload bin <.<' -
tool to use? I use that tool to change the evolution of the pokemon in PLATINUM?

I been working on a hack involving platinunm. this is the d/p version of it: Fa3t7Eh2u6o When making a platinum version, the sprites are not changing. i think there is a flaw in the program. I noticed animated trainer sprites in the game seem to have 3 different sprites. 1: First frame of animation, in this frame as they appear and come across the screen. 2: Second frame of animation, when they reach there standing spot the animation begins and switches to this frame then back to the first one. 3: Third frame of animation, the sprite changes to the frame as the trainer slides off the screen to release their first pokemon, this frame is the same as the single frame from diamond and pearl. Now, the program only shows 2 frames in the narc file for the trainers. if they are not animated then its the same as their normal sprites, but if they are animated trainers, then it shows their animated sprites. So, I think the stand alone sprites are in another location. because when i tryed to edit the trainers sprites like I did it just shows the old sprite with the new color palette. I dont know, maybe i did somthing wrong, but it worked for diamond/pearl.

Alright it has been brought to my attention that the 4 event items I have placed in my hack (see my sig) do not work! This is apparently due to them not being received through Mystery Gift... So I have possibly come up with a solution but I am not sure how to implement it. I'm figuring if I can have this wondercards active from the start of the game somehow or possibly activated when talking to a specific NPC or something of the sort then perhaps I can make the said event items work once received from the in-game trades... The items involved are: Oak's Letter Secret Key Azure Flute Membership Card Now I was just looking over some stuff and I noted that Bloody Diamond, the hack I got my foundation for, had screenshots of the events actually working... But I cannot be certain that the screenshots provided there are actually from that hack and am unable to ask because the author of that hack has mysteriously disappeared... If that author did infact have them working in their hack then perhaps they would work in mine, all I did was remove the fld_trade.narc file from Bloody Diamond, made some changes, such as adding the Secret Key, and then inserted it into Platinum... If the wondercards are what actually activate the event and the items are just a symbology thing or whatever then I definitely need the help of implemementing the wondercards in! And I am asking in advance that you; don't sit there and tell me it's impossible without proof! If anyone has any ideas please let me know!!

Mmkay, seeing as how I haven't found this anywhere I'll throw it out here, can anyone get me the exact hex for the nintendo regi? You know, the one that activates the regirock, regiice, and registeel in platinum? I'm interested in implementing it into an in-game trade in my platinum hack and somehow I have a feeling I cannot implement a fateful encounter pokemon into an in-game trade but I am not certain... Hence me asking:D Any thoughts from the experts?
