Well here is my suggestion with a moveset and a strategy ( I will come up with ideas later on). I don't really EV, IV, or nature train right now, but I think there are plenty of others on the team who can cover that. I won't be specifying an item either. So here it is:

Venusaur_ Moveset:

Sleep powder

Leech seed

Giga Drain

Attract

Strategy: I use this with my Venusaur in LG. It's basically just a complete setup. First, if your up against an opposite gender, use Attract on it. It will barely ever attack you after it is seduced. If it's not an opposite gender, use Sleep powder as an alternative. Once you have one of those (or both of them casted on it. If you can get both Attract AND Sleep Powder on it, that thing will be in a corner) induced upon the foe, use leech seed to automatically drain energy every turn. After that, just keep using Giga Drain on it until it faints. If it wakes up, just use Sleep Powder on it again. It's almost impossible for ANY pokemon to get out of this, unless it isn't affected by grass types.

Also, You may want to give your Breloom Drain punch, since your team is based off draining.

Decent, except for the problem that venusaur is slow and can easily be outran by birds (threat) infernape (threat, just to name a fire type) and a various psychic type like alakazam or gallade (threat, just to name some) however, it might be able to take some of the special attacks from psychic types being that they're almost all special attacks. However, staraptor can be really mean to him.

I would suggest something like....

EVs: 252 special defense/ 252 defense/ 6 special attack

sludge bomb- attack, also cover grass type stoppage. You see your team is going to have problems dealing with grass types being that they are immune to leech seed and have resistance to grass type moves that drain HP.

Also insomnia pokemon prove a problem such as...

-honchkrow

-hypno

-shuppet

-hoothoot

-murkrow

-drowzee

-spinarak

all have the ability insomnia and with the exception of bannete and shuppet they all can prove a typing problem for venusaur so he might not be the best of choice.

As the title implies, I have an idea for an interesting team that I want to implement in my area during local tournaments (unofficial). I want to make an HP Sap team.

Basically, I'm going to spam obnoxious amounts of sleeping agents and life leechers. Put my opponent's team to sleep, leech seed them, and continue to sap their HP while maintaining their sleep status.

Obviously I need to watch out for Ice and Fire. Please don't post telling me that, it's kinda obvious. With that aside, I AM looking for a way to keep those things away, so suggestions for moves will be greatly appreciated.

Also, this team is meant for Doubles only, which increases the challenge.

So far I have two Pokemon in mind - Breloom and Tangrowth.

All advice is appreciated. Still need 4 Pokemon (IF these don't get replaced). Any Pokemon selection advice, move advice, and item advice is welcomed.

On an ending note, not only is this team for doubles, but the particular group of whiners I'm trying to stomp with this obnoxious team has a "No Same Item" rule, meaning my Pokemon must all have different items. Their policy is "if it beats you, ban it", I swear. :grog:

EDIT: Oh, and I forgot to mention, no idea where the EVs should go either. If this team wins, it'll be up on fliers all over my city as "Team ProjectPokemon". Put your heart into it!

EDIT2: Maybe that sounds cheesy but I really don't care. :grin: If I actually get any help with this I'm not taking all the credit, that's not cool.

Also, I was thinking about a Gengar, abusing Hypnosis or something like that. I dunno.

@breloom part Why not subseed? What can be more annoying? Spore, substitute, leech seed! and then focus punch so basically the foe is asleep, you have a substitute, the foe is leech seeded so they're already losing health, and you are going to focus punch it to death with a STAB attack with an ending power of 225 if my math is correct, not to mention more power if the foe is weak to fighting. There is a reason breloom is OU.

Sadly no, you cannot egg move spore. Also, you have the moves down, however why chlorophyl? Why not have leaf guard so that no one can annoy you back while the sun is shining. Yet another fault that I see...you need to find a way to utilize such sun related abilities that are on a plethora of grass types. Therefore you need sunshine which is a hard element to get into battle, assuming that you cant use groudon.

That tangrowth needs leftovers and an impish nature. I dont think speed is something that is on tangrowth's side so its best to try and prevent status then speed it up. Also, that thing needs an impish nature and put the EVs towards defense and HP. EVs and IVs are everything

Smeargle leads! Focus sash guarantees that they will get one move off. Dark void, in case you dont know, is a move that puts both opponents to sleep however, I'm pretty sure that is has 80% accuracy so maybe two spores one per smeargle) so lets say its two spores (dark void is hard to get any way it requires a darkrai) so then saying that the smeargles aren't faster (they really aren't that fast) they get hit, focus sash saves them, then they both spore. (earth quake dual power or any dual effecting move screws this up) then one of them teeter dances (own tempo prevents confusion) so now the foes are asleep and confused. Then we need to get sunny day up for some of the other abilities. Then we sub/swords dance then baton pass in. Or maybe not swords dance/sub at all.

I think smeargle leads are a good idea. Then you can come in with tangrowth and breloom, and you pretty much have a safe switch in. Breloom is frail and tangrowth has poor special defense so if they get hit by the right things its bye bye plant monsters. Especially since

1. they aren't that fast

2. breloom is x4 weak to flying and most flying pokemon are fast

3. you need sun to activate leaf guard

4. with the smeargles it saves the trouble of having for tangrowth and breloom to put to sleep, especially since tangrowth cant spore

5. plus now there is teeter dance

6. you may even have BP'd a swords dance or substitute

That's my rant.

If you can put your Ninjask to sleep, and then make it use Substitute while asleep, as long as the Ninjask doesn't wake up to actually use the move you should be able to copy it even though the move "fails".

This is the same method to Sketch Metronome and moves like it.

Blaziken all the way. Also, Infernape doesn't outclass Blaziken. Blaziken runs a Specs and Band set way better. Also, it gets Agility so the speed isn't an issue. Also Infernape was very unoriginal. They made it look like an overhyped retarded skinny offspring of Blaziken and Slaking.

Infernape so out classes blaziken! He's faster and stronger then blaziken and he just doesn't benefit from specs and band the way blaziken does. He can use these items, yet he doesn't benefit as m uch.

i dont think typhlosion comes close to these 2 maybe if it had a few more moves and a 2nd type, and that name... i always rename it ferruption. infernapes movepool puts him miles ahead.

Yes Ape has a better movepool.....why couldnt they give Blaziken a little more boost? Why not give it base 82 speed so it can beat Gyarados? Why not give it OF AAALLL pokemon Close Combat? Sheez even Some Normal types learn close combat (ursaring, granbull...your nothing like Blaziken). OF ALL the animals in the world.....they chose an Ape, an ugly one at that, to be a feared fighting type??

Poor Blaziken ; _ ;. Hes still one of my favorite pokemon from the RSE gen. Hes such a hunky pokemon (yes im a guy, hunky means muscular)....its such a travesty.

Seriously, i wouldve chosen the final option as i did in the last poll, but unlike those stupid rats, i do have a soft corner for the Blaze master. It looks nothing like a chicken, If you see his Evolution line, all his basic forms look like cute (yukh) and stupid looking pokemon.....i mean just look at Combusken, can you believe a stupid thing like that becomes a Hottie like Blaziken? dont even get me started on torchic >_<.... its just wrong. No other pokemon looks so different from its basic forms.....not even Gyarados for cryin out loud! Magikarp has whiskers and an always open mouth after all! Blaziken has that amazing build and sharp looking features, what does Combusken have? a round beak and.....legs?wth??!! Blazikens beak makes it look like a menacing eagle. Infernape? even Machamp looks better!!:eek:

Blaziken had a glorious run in RS cause he swept the Pokemon League like light saber cutting through Infernapes frail and thin arms >=), but that doesnt mean they outclass it like this!! They always give a few good pokemon the short end of the stick.

To let you know how much i <3 Blaziken i would say, If pokemon was real and i was a trainer......it would most certainly be in my 6 pokemon party.

You dont have to use Blaziken in OU or just for the sake of it......just dont think its nothing compared to Ape. Remember, Blaziken came out first and it was the basis on which they made another one to be better than it.

I personally dislike them both and I think I'm going to choose charizard because he's the only fire starter I do like, although I have played through the game with infernape and am working on firered with charizard, and sapphire with blaziken yet so far pearl was so easy with my monkey. Unfortunately, infernape is probably the best fire starter.

Wow, this is quite a poll. Anyways my favorite would have to be vaporeon because it was the 1st eeveelution I trained and its a water type. I'm surprised wraith didn't make a big long list of all the eeveelutions stating their abilities, stats, best uses in battle and stuff like that.

I have a question that has to do with smeargle. I want my smeargle to learn the move substitute however, whenever I have it sketch my ninjask when it uses substitute nothing happens, sketch fails. I dont understand how it fails to work. Here's what I do.

1. Have ninjask use the move substitute

2. Have smeargle use sketch on ninjask

3. Then sketch fails

4. and then two other pokemon in battle use their moves

??? What am I doing wrong? Does smeargle have issues with sketching substitute?

Also, where can I get a life orb in pokemon platinum?

When i battled him with my Raikou team, I got owned =( At least i know that Raikou can takes a Specs Surf from Floatzel

Anyways, I put up the match where I battled bob. These war stories take forever to build. After reviewing that battle I think I might have a a phione as an alternate for ludicolo because that phione was a pain in the butt. All that resting, and in the rain it didn't matter. Also, I've realized I need to find a way to incorporate some stealth rocks in there. I have a bronzong planned out, I just need to test it as a replacement for someone, possibly ludicolo. the battle against wraith is next up on my list then BagonBoy's stall team.

Floatzel is SO beast... but his poor defenses can be a turnoff when phttp://projectpokemon.org/forums/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=40107riority moves can hurt so much. Kingdra can also be versatile... but pretty cool. I see you like your rain team and I'm glad you're using it.

I fought lots of people...I've had tons of success with this team, I'm starting to think none of the people I've battled can really battle...except for bobtheedibleone I battled him and won. That's probably my next story to post. But tomorrow, not tonight. After bob's I'll post ours wraith. I would like to battle again.

Yeah, I took out the FAQ and figured that I'm probably not going to include that feature much anymore. Anyways thanks for posting the log. It should be a perfect example of why you dont let gyarados dance. Anyone else have any comments? I've been having lots of success with the team and tons more stories to post so keep checking back. There is currently a new story. Its my first battle against bagonboy the one I didn't lose. So far I've only lost to bagonboy with his stall team, and wraith with his team I forget what he called it.

If anyone wants to help test out the team, so far I've noticed that the choice items kind of make the point of the dancing (especially on kingdra) pretty pointless and maybe life orb would be a better choice. I'm debating over it.

Also here is the place where I posted the specifics of my rain team if anyone wanted to try using it themselves or comment there on its innerworkings.

Dancing in the rain! I've been testing my rain team in the TeamUber shoddy server lately under the name of squowse so if you do see that name its me, and I've been having lots of success till I fought a stalling team but even that was a close match. Due to the fact that I lost one of the logs (the one where I battled wraith89 and lost horribly) that will not be included in this collection. Enjoy and comment. Also I will be editing this post to add more battles as I go.

Good point I never thought about light clay

Rocks would be better the earlier they go up, screens can be anytime, even to set up a sweeper mid/endgame.

Also, for the switch, U-Turn is also a viable alternative since Crobat outspeeds quite a lot of things and it does damage. If it's slower than the opponent and you want to take a status or damage instead of Bronzong, U-Turn is also better than a switch. But, in essence, yep.

Yes..this is a huge problem being that I dont want to be walled by a tiny bug. Meaning that bronzong WILL have to set up rocks or I HAVE to keep crobat alive in case of the bug showing its immortal face.

Fine... but don't blame me when something one shots that weasel before it gets a chance to use it. Remember, roar has a NEGATIVE priority, and therefore is best used by bulky Pokemon like Skarmory or Walrein.

The thing that resists Dragon is Steel... which makes up most of the metagame. So be CAREFUL when using Outrage.

Waterfall + Outrage... resisted by Empoleon and Shedinja

True...empoleon is a big threat in the rain especially to special sweeping water types being that

1. it resists ice which is a back up move on most water types to handle grass and dragons.

2. It resists water which is just as bad

3. it has special defense and special attack stats of its own that are pretty powerful (especially special attack) so it can pull off a sweep on your team in the rain.

Stealth rocks were on my original bronzong lead. However, they lack existence now. When I do add bronzong back in I'm not sure who to kick out...maybe I alternate between kicking out kingdra and floatzel.

With defensive stats to survive long enough to set up and some attack EVs to help him explode plus no weaknesses in the downpour he can come in after crobat and set up rocks, light screen, reflect, and then explode/dance.

I might want to add rain dance because the switch in, and setting up is a lot of turns and then the rain might stop. Plus without explosion he might survive to be able to dance later in the game.

The order aside from Crobat being lead doesn't matter, so that's a non-issue.

Bronzong can be the status platform and can set up Stealth Rocks when needed (Focus Sash users are a BIG threat to rain sweepers, so you need SR to break their sashes). Plus it can use Hypnosis, set up Reflect/Light Screen or even set up Rain by himself. Oh, and he detonates when you want him to.

And I am STILL contemplating. Making a rain team is VERY hard.

So then getting bronzong up early is crucial to get those rocks, screens, and possibly sleep up as soon as possible so they can take there effects for the sweepers. So does that mean realistically on a safe switch in it can go from crobat to bronzong. Would bronzong hold the damp rock because he would have rain dance? Should bronzong have...

If it's pwning people... then you're officially a wimp. I'm sorry to say that, but that goes for all people who use Ubers in OU (unless given consent otherwise but still).

Anyhow, just use a Crobat lead... and forget about the fishy. Still insisting on using that Kyogre? Then play ubers, but don't bring that thing in OU.

Make sure Crobat has U-turn though. I'd go Rain Dance, U-turn, Roost, and Brave Bird (breed with Staraptor for Brave Bird).

Actually you can use any pokemon so your not specifically playing in OU you could play a person that uses all ubers or all babies *thinks of paradox* plus unless they're your friend you cant play anyone specifically and you cant talk to them on battle revolution wifi.

Kyogre is a big harm. Rain + STAB + Surf/Hydro Pump = pain. Not to mention with Calm Mind that thing can sweep. 90 speed is slow for Uber tier, but in OU that's quite fast. Also in the rain his Thunder's not gonna miss, and his Ice Beam will destroy a lot of things since many things are weak to Ice. And all this coming off 150 SpA? Yes, it is quite dangerous.

Water Spout Choice Scarf lead? And do I want to face that?? Especially in the rain?

And all you need to do is max out Crobat's Speed and give him Jolly nature. Not sure about the rest... just dump them into attack/HP.

Yeah that's what I was thinking for crobat as well. Maxing out his speed for the rain dance is the most important thing.

I know you cant do anything to stop me wraith I'm looking for suggestions because you know how great a battler I am :tongue: I to get upset when people bring a bunch of legendaries/ubers to the battle field. However, if there is only one (kyogre) then is there that much harm? Kyogre is my all time favorite legendary. Of course I see the flip side as well. It would be a lot easier if there was a nonuber auto weather inducer for rain yet there isn't and i doubt there ever will be because kyogre, a legendary, has that ability so its ruined.

I think we should get off the kyogre point and just pretend i'm not going to use kyogre and suggest onward from there. Because if you really want to prove your point, making suggestions without including kyogre that sound good will only solidify the point that not using kyogre is the right choice.

Urm, I have NO idea who YOU were playing with, but Kyogre is definitely not allowed in standard battles.

Magnezone is a threat because STAB 135 SpA Thunderbolts can wreak a lot of stuff... yeah. But I'm not saying Dugtrio's necessary. I'm just saying he can help you if you are considering one.

Yes, Zapdos learns Thunder by level up, albeit really late.

Floatzel/Kingdra kinda overlap in roles. If you want a sweeperish Floatzel, try Rain dance, Surf, Waterfall, Ice Beam with 240 Atk/252 SpA/16 Speed (Lonely/Naughty/Mild/Rash nature). The speed is specific to hit 270 Speed, and in rain, it becomes 540 speed (of course, this is assuming max IVs in speed). I just maxed out SpA and put the rest into attack. But Floatzel will never want Roar.

And if this is an in-game team, I have no reason to rate it because anything is destroyable in-game. Now if you're talking about standard metagame, then we can talk, but Kyogre has to go.

Maybe I view wifi as the same thing as in game just playing with other people. Well this is a wifi team and no one is restricting my kyogre the game lets it battle (plus you cant talk in battle revolution wifi so they cant object)

Zapdos makes a good wall/phazer and can use Thunder quite well and stall out opponents

Remember this is an in game team, on wifi, at least in battle revolution you can use all 493 pokemon. I've used kyogre (its destroyed people) on wifi with battle revolution since I dont have DS wifi.

What's CB? I was thinking about putting azumarill on the team, lapras to, but I ran out of room. Since this is an in game team i need pokes that are accessible easily.
