    How to patch:

      Hide contents

The UPS program Tsukuyomi is unable to patch the ISO. Use NUPS if on windows. Use Multipatch on Mac.

Apply the patch file to a clean Pokemon XD: Gale of darkness ISO using any UPS patcher. This patch was made for the NTSC (US) version so it will not work on other versions. The iso is quite large so it may take a few minutes.

Always patch onto a clean ISO, even if you are applying an update.

The file size for the ISO should be 1.46 GB (1.35 GiB). If it's an nkit (1.1. GB) ISO then you'll need to convert to a regular ISO using this tool. If the file size is below 1GB it's probably in a .zip, .7z, .rar or other archive and needs to be unzipped.

It also needs to be a Redump verified .ISO file. In other words, it needs to have a CRC-32 of c0f69d18, an md5 of 3bc1671806cf763a8712a5d398f62ad3, and a SHA-1 of c1b5218f832403d15aa500ac4d6aacc8865c792d. If one of those does not match, you'll need a different ISO. Sharing ISOs is against the rules here, so you're on your own there.

None of the UPS patchers have been working for me. I'm using a scrubbed ISO. Is that the problem? The NUPS patcher just freezes and gives me a message about an exception error while giving me the option to continue or either quit.

Uhh, the OP says to use a clean ISO, which implies NOT trimmed or scrubbed. It also needs to be a Redump database legit ISO. NUPS will only allow using the patch on that version.

I have Butterfree listed on the shadow pokemon list (downloaded from output list) and I've already beaten the game and can't find it. Is it one of the 15 post game pokemon?

    Yes, it is.

Also is Ho-oh received at Mt. Battle like in Pokemon Colosseum?

    No.

    Spoiler

He is a Shadow Pokemon, and is in the last Miror B. battle after acquiring all other Shadow Pokemon. In other words, Ho-Oh replaces Dragonite in the original game. Note: He is EXTREMELY hard to purify.

It was 1.2. I played it on the day it released. I couldn't tell you my exact settings since I change so much around but I ran Dolphin in administrator and have the newest build (the experimental build not the latest stable one)

I'm having the exact same issue as @EvilApple567, and am also using the latest Beta build (5.0-9494) with recommended settings, so it appears to be a machine-specific issue. @StarsMmd, could you please look into this? I'm playing on desktop. I patched a copy of the same unpatched .iso as 1.8.x with NUPS (created a backup file), so I didn't patch it incorrectly. It just freezes with the sound still playing when selecting any action in the first battle.

Edit: By 'same unpatched .iso', I meant the original CLEAN .iso that I used to patch 1.8.x.

my comp has 1.5 gigs of ram in total and i was trying to patch it while playing a game but i think i dont remember lolz XDD do i need more then 2 gigs of ram to patch this game? cause if so then im gonna have to find another computer that has more then 2 my comp is a 32 bit which can only read 2 gigs at most

ok this is a edit to this comment i tried patching the game on my sister computer which has 2 gigs of ram total and i got a different error the error i got on her computer is the patching doesnt match the file patching canceled i know i need a different iso with different hashes is there a way to check what iso has what hashes and if so how do i check the hashes? i really want to play this hack btw this is my only iso

If you tried patching the same ISO that your computer ran out of memory patching, it won't work, since it already partially patched it. You'll need to get a fresh ISO. Also, at least 2GB of RAM is recommended since patching loads AT LEAST both the whole ISO into RAM, but if you tick the box in NUPS that says make a backup copy you'll need 2x the size of the ISO in RAM(which is about 2.73GB), which puts the maximum recommended RAM at 4GB.

Edit: I highly recommend having 2 copies of the ISO when patching - the one you are patching, and a backup copy in case patching fails. If patching fails, make a copy of your backup copy, then use the newly created copy to patch again. This is actually the recommended method when patching ANYTHING, really, but very few people do this.

im having a problem patching the game i have a clean copy of the game and i made a copy so i could play the original and the hacked one but it keeps telling me the error system.outofmemoryexception was thrown and i can click ether continue or quit when i click quit the patcher closes if i click continue the error vanishes and nothing seems to happen also ive had this error pop up before with continue and quit on other stuff but it didnt say system.outofmemoryexception was thrown it said other stuff before but on those if i click continue it turns out whatever i was trying to do failed the same thing happens when i try to patch the game to both continue and quit end up making the patching fail please help?

Sounds like you only have 1.5GB or 2GB of RAM, and more than half of it is in use. How much RAM does your computer have?

    Hello,

I just found this and was trying to patch my .iso of the game with the .ups i downloaded using NUPS but i keep getting an error saying "the patch doesn't match the file, patching canceled". How do I solve this? I'm really looking forward to being able to use this, Thanks for any help!

You need an ISO with the following hashes:
    CRC32: C0F69D18
    MD5: 3BC1671806CF763A8712A5D398F62AD3
    SHA-1: C1B5218F832403D15AA500AC4D6AACC8865C792D

If the ISO you have does not have those hashes, patching will fail. You need a different ISO.

  8. Is it intended that not all of my Pokemon can be burned at once? I was facing that trainer that Vander told me to battle (the one with the Sableye that knows Will-o-Wisp), and all my Pokemon except Poochyena were burned. It said that Poochyena wasn't affected when Sableye used Will-o-Wisp on Poochyena.

  9. I followed these instructions exactly for 4 different .cia files, one of which was from a dump of a friend's cartridge, but the Star Sapphire 679 build always errors in FBI with 'Invalid NCCH'. I assume that one of the 679 build's files is corrupt or something. I tried in Gateway mode and in NTR mode; both have the same issue. I'm going to try the Leveled build now, and I'll post here with my results afterward.

It seems to be a Gateway problem, since the Leveled build has the same problem for me. Does anyone know which CFW is best for running SS as a .cia?

  10.

    • Obtain a .cia or .3ds ROM of Pokémon Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire. This can be done by dumping your legitimate cartridge or eShop copy of the game. Some ROMs on file-sharing sites are "trimmed" and will not work with this tutorial.

    • Uninstall any Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire updates you have on your 3DS.

    • Download and extract the .zip file for the hack you want to play from the bottom of this thread.

    • Copy the "Decrypt9WIP" folder from the Distribution Pack's "CIA Tools" folder to your 3DS's /3ds folder.

    • Decrypt your ROM with Decrypt9 and put it in the Distribution Pack's "CIA Tools/Asia81 Hacking Toolkit v5.3" folder.

    • Run "SetupUS.exe".

    • Run "HackingToolkit3DS.exe"

    • Enter CE to extract a .cia ROM or D to extract a .3ds ROM.

    • Copy the contents of "/CIA Tools/exefs" to the newly generated "ExtractedExeFS" folder. Overwrite everything. If an ExtractedExeFS folder was not generated, you used a "trimmed" CIA file from a pirate site. Rip your own or find a different download, I am not going to help you pirate OR/AS.

    • Copy the "a" folder from the Distribution Pack's "romfs" folder to the "ExtractedRomFS" folder. Overwrite everything.

    • If you want to use the Leveled or 679 Builds, copy the "a" folder from "Encounter Type/Leveled Build" or "Encounter Type/679 Build" into the "ExtractedRomFS" folder. Do this after you complete the previous step, not instead of it!

    • Now is when you can use PK3DS to randomize your game if you want to. I recommend using the Leveled or 679 Build as a base if you intend to randomize.

    • Run "HackingToolkit3DS.exe" again.

    • Enter CR to build a .cia file. You can now delete everything in the "Asia81 Hacking Toolkit v5.3" folder except your new .cia and "HackingToolkit3DS.exe".

    • Copy this .cia file and the "CIA Tools/Online_Patch_xxx.cia" file for your region to your 3DS SD Card.

    • Install both .cia files with FBI, and enjoy the game!

    • The game will still tell you there's an update, just decline it and play.

  11. Is it possible to use someone else's PowerSaves save file to overwrite that file to a different cartridge? Like, if someone's save file has Hoopa/Volcanion (obtained with a modded 3DS or whatever), and they back up that save using PowerSaves and then send that file to me, would I be able to put that in my PowerSaves folder and restore that backup?

    Just an idea, I guess.

    No, it's not.

Google --3DS "Save Bank"-- (without dashes)

Then tell me it's 'impossible'.

  12. I have a fully decrypted save (not just boxes) and all my checksums match, so yes there is an error.

  13. Okay, I'm using this, and keep getting "AP not found". I also have used this tool before, and had the same issue, with an ARDSi. I'm using a TTDSi this time, on a DS Lite, if that helps. What do I set the IP to in the .ini? My router uses 192.168.1.1, so that's what it is currently set to. I have no idea what I am doing wrong here.

edit: nvm. Didn't have a connection set up on the ds. But now it stays at "connecting to ftp server", and nothing happens, neither on smallftpd, or on my ds...

edit2: okay, now it just displayed "ERROR FTP server missing". what's going on here??
