Here is a side-by-side comparison of the two. They slightly resemble, but not too much.

They look like they are pretty similar. The positioning could mean that all it is is a redesign. Keep your mind open to possibilities, I mean look at the two. Nintendo could have just want Kris to be more in style in Japan, doesn't mean it's a new girl.

For the last time, she isn't officially called Soul, this is most likely what the name will be, but it could be a redesign of Kris.

Yes, it is quite a redesign. Still could be her. Don't doubt the theory, because the positioning of the sprite, the hairstyle and all is similar to Kris's. Take the artwork and set it up side to side to see the similarity.

My theory is because there wasn't a girl in G/S before, they can pick any girl style they want in HG/SS.

Kris is a Crystal only girl, if this was a remake of Crystal then we would have a Updated Kris instead of redesign girl

Not this theory again. G/S take place in the same region and generation as Crystal, even if it wasn't in G/S, they would still use the girl from that generation, and if this were a remake of only G/S, why would they use things from Crystal such as Eusine? It's pretty obvious that there is something else to this girl.

What are your thoughts on the new female character? As we all know, HG and SS have a new female playable character. I personally think that this new girl is fine, but I would have preferred Kris, but I do not really care since I always choose male. What do you guys think of her?

I'm sure they will have a ROM by the first day of its release, but I asked SCV that question long ago and he said that within hours they should know a lot about the game. Again, speculation like that belongs in the speculation thread. This thread is for the GS ball, not for Darkrai and Manaphy egg. But if the game has the GS ball, the programmers should see that within the first day.

First of all, wrong thread to be speculating on Mewtwo and his beserk gene. Second, just to end off the conversation and continue it in the right place, in the original game you could find Beserk Gene but you couldn't find Mewtwo so obviously it was an item for Mewtwo but to obtain Mewtwo it had to be traded to you. But, since they added GBA legends Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza they could put in Mewtwo because they might not be adding any GBA connectivity. But hey, that's what I speculate, lets keep that in the right section. Anyways, if there is going to be a Celebi event, we will not be finding anytime soon because events for the game are not announced during the game's release, but since they are drawing quite a lot of attention to the shrine it seems like something important is in that shrine, so I believe they will be keeping Celebi especially since there is no other way to obtain Celebi without a GBA event.
