  1. "Thy Bird has finally awoke from thy slumber, but thy does not know of thy 101 Flocks of Chickens thy shall have to face. What shall thy try to due? Will thy soar to the brightest heavens or will thy dive into the darkest of shadows?"

I killed them slowly, one group at a time... yet their remnants remain annoyingly.

Hello Tbird, welcome :) Also thanks again for all the help you have given me with competitive gaming.

  2. I am still working on the strategy (I am on Pokemon Online, and I am new to competitive battling) but here is some of it. Dialga will start with a few layers of Stealth Rock. The movesets have been worked so that I do not need to switch pokemon as much when my pokemon would not normally be as strong against an opponant (like ice). Fighting and other moves to take out tough normals like Blissey. Giratina to take out Arceus like threats. Kyurem would lure out such threats like Lucario. Actually let me talk to Tbird again, he helped me put the team together. I will give you a more detailed decription on my teams strategy as I can't remember all the details. Though I have played a few games with pokemon of similiar strength and it seem I am winning around half the time. I think I could do better I just need to get some more experiance in the competitive battling world.

  4. Teddy, the perfect thing for your problems would be to play on Pokémon Online. If you know the basics everything else purely experience upon experience. You'll learn the need of a strong defensive backbone, and you'll better learn when to take your shots, and what shots to take. Honestly, I fully recommend that you download the simulator @www.pokemon-online.eu.

EVs have been around from the get go, by the way, however they went by a different name. Experience values, or something like that.

The thing with items is that you've got to understand what your pokemon needs that it is currently missing, whilst not being too gimmicky (I.E Snorlax with Quick Claw). If you do some battle calculations and Realise that you are just missing the OHKO on X,Y,Z, chances are that you're going to need to run life orb. It's all about knowing what's capable of what.

Thank you for the information and help, I will try Pokemon Online out. Also, I'm not sure if my character Theodore Daconus would like being call Teddy, because of his personality and mindset. Though you can call me that as I find the very idea of it funny.

  5. Thanks for the link Waith, though to be honest a moveset of "Giga Drain/Solarbeam/Razor Leaf/Petal Dance" would be completely idiotic, even I know that. At least I understand I need to have a varied moveset that can work under many conditions. I also understand the importance of the corret nature and with the additional 'positive' increase matching up with the pokemon's stat strengths and moveset. Even items I can do okay in, though there are times I am unsure on such.

My problems come with EVs as, which I do not understand their working of much as it has never been of great importance when playing the games as will as how it is a new mechanic in the last couple of generation games. Two, having everything complement and mix well with the rest of the team, which is why I had been asking for advice as will as possible changes yet still keeping the basic team idea, as in mindset I am still more of a ones on one battler and know with work one can play with one favorites (though I admit it is more difficult). That and I am far more of an attacker, with mostly a bit of defensive support. I'm not good at getting complicated with movesets and strategy. Heck I have not even actually had much of chance to battle real people.

Understand what I am saying are my problems? I know the basics, but have never been able to let my battle strategy evolve nor practice in actual competitive battles.

  6. ...You just pretty much suggested I scrap my whole team and do something completely different.

I thank you for you help... but changing almost every single member of my team and almost everything else about the team is not exactly help I was looking for. I would like to keep the basic team and do what is needed to get the team to work. At the very least is there a way to keep Empolean, Infernape, and Torterra together as that was part of the point of my team?

  7. "If it's not for in game we're going to need to know the nature, Evs abilities and Items of all Pokemon, plus an explanation of why they're on the team."

It is for both in game and as competitive battling. I updated my first post to add the natures and items, but I do not think I have the means to give you the EVs abilities.

Can you give advice and help without EV information?

I was looking for a hybrid team where none of the elements overlap being the main point. The tree starter because they make a very good trio together and the elements complement and support each other. Tyranitar, because his is a non legendary powerhouse that can be very useful. Altaria because of it defensive potential and I remember it had been difficult to take out in game. Froslass is something of the oddball because I have not had the chance to ever play with one.

  8. This is a team I would like to put together for Diamond and Pearl, tell me what you think.

    Empolean Item:Mystic Water

    Nature: Lonely

    Hydro Pump

    Drill Peck

    Steel Wing

    Iron Defense

    Infernape Item: Muscle Band

    Nature: Adamant

    Fire Blitz

    Acrobatics

    Bulk Up

    Close Combat

    Torterra Item: Big Root

    Nature: Gentle

    Giga Drain

    Earthquake

    Synthesis

    Crunch

    Tyranitar Item: Black Glasses

    Nature: Brave

    Stone Edge

    Giga Impact

    Dark Pulse

    Dragon Dance

    Altaria Item: Zoom Lenses

    Nature: Adamant

    Aerial Ace

    Dragon Rush

    Refresh

    Cotton Guard

    Froslass Item:Focus Sash

    Nature: Modest

    Blizzard

    Confuse Ray

    Captivate

    Ominous Wind

  9. I have a few pokemon team ideas I am considering working on but I would like to get some advice before going through all the work and trouble of trying to make these teams ideas. If anyone is willing to help me I would be most grateful. Also, I understand that the teams have weakness. The help I want is how get get my teams to work, not why they can't work. Thank you

Teams I would like to make:

    * An Eevee Evolution Team with focus on attack and secondary focus on defense and support (Could use suggestions on movesets).

    * A non legendary Steel Team where I could use suggestions on movesets and possible pokemon change (Team: Empoleon (Steel/Water), Metagross (Steel/Psychic), Steelix (Ground/Steel), Lucario (Steel/Fighting), Aggron (Rock/Steel), Magnezone (Steel/Electric))

    * A Legendary Steel Team I could use suggestions on movesets. (Team: Dialga (Steel/Dragon, Heatran (Fire/Steel), Jirachi (Steel/Psychic), Cobalion (Steel/Fighting), Genesect (Steel/Bug))

    * Dark Team which I could use suggestions on Moveset and possible pokemon changes (Team: Bisharp (Dark/Steel), Spirittomb (Ghost/Dark), Honchkrow (Dark/Flying), Tyranitar (Rock/Dark), Houndoom (Dark/Fire), Cacturne (Grass/Dark))

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lastly and most importantly, as this will be the team for a villain of sorts I am consider making named Theodore Draconus (Yes, my screen name), a Legendary Dragon Team. This will be in game and in a story I plan on making. As such, yes I know this will take a while to make, which is why I want to make sure it is done right. Any and all advice and help would be most appreciated.

    -----------------------------------

    Theodore Daconus

An intimidating and at times severe man in his late 30s that has worked with and trained pokémon all his life. Yet he is also a gentleman of sorts, even if he is more of a solitaire individual. He is seen by those that have met him to be a respectful and even an inspiring man that speaks as one that know the world well. Yet by nature, Theodore is very cynical and wishes for nothing more then for the world to go back to its more purer state when dragon pokémon ruled the lands.

From a young age he has considered dragon pokémon to be the pinnacle of strength and power. This belief is a family trait as almost all of Theodore's ancestors were strong dragon masters. Yet the family name of Daconus had long since fallen into dishonor because so many of Theodore's family had committed great crimes against man and pokémon or have shown weakness in character. Because of this he believes it is his duty to restore his family honor and that breaking the law in any way should be punished.

Theodore has study and researched the myths, legends, and facts of all the dragon pokémon know. As such he could be consider more of a watcher then just a trainer, yet his ability to train dragons is almost without peer because of his knowledge. He is a man willing to do just about anything and sacrifice almost anything to meet his goals. He can also at the same time always be trusted to keep his word, even if it may temporarily hinders his goals to do so. He understands that the strength of a pokémon must be honed in battle and in training, and yet knows when a pokémon's limits have been reached. If he ever loses a battle he blames himself more then his pokémon, and sees every lose as a sign that he needs to make himself stronger as well as his pokémon.

More recently Theodore has come to believe that it is his destiny to become the ultimate dragon master because of a fateful sight of seeing Dialga and Palkia in glorious battle... yet to do that he feels he must catch the greatest of dragon pokémon. As such he has made it his goal to catch the dragons of legend: Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Zekrom, Reshiram, and Kyurem. Theodore is already well on his way... yet when he does capture all of the dragons of legend he will become one of the most dangerous man alive, even if he is not truly evil.

As such he will need to be taken down at all costs... who is up for the challenge?

(Yes, when Theodore Daconus's team is completed I do plan on sending out a WiFi battle challenge)

  10. Shaymin changed types when it changed forms (although not its primary type), and Rotom changed its secondary Ghost typing during Gen V. And yes, I would definitely want Kyurem to stay Dragon/Ice. Without that Ice typing, I would lose all meaning to even use Kyurem.

As I said, unless it was a trait it already had, Shaymin and Rotom count. Though I do see we agree on the other part. :)

  11. I don't care how they fix Kyurem, as long as he stays a Dragon/Ice type. That and I have never heard of a pokemon changing type unless it was a trait of that pokemon from the very beginning. A form change would be good yes... but a type would not be.

    That is my two cents.

  12. Sense it seems no one wishes to help me with my themed teams. I will instead post a full hybrid team of different types. Please tell me what you think and any and all advice would be helpful, thank you.

  13. Maybe that kind of books are also more suitable for you? Oh and, about Taoism, I do not know anything about it, but I am sure it will count, too. :)

That list of artists and genres are interesting, too! Do you also like the soundtracks of the Pokémon games (or did you mean soundtracks of films and the such)?

Yeah, that is a good quote, but I do not think I want to say something like that as a greeting. xD Unless the answer is 'Theodore Daconus'! It gets me wondering... where did that name come from?

Perhaps, though from the titles the books seem to be not in English, that and I have no clue what the books are about. Can you give me some links by chance?

Admittingly Taoism is more of a religious philosophy, and I was lead to understand the subject because of a book called the "Tao of Pooh", though I looked into it more when I was finished reading it.

Soundtracks from movies and games :) Though I have never come upon soundtracks for the Pokemon games.

On the name Theodore Draconus, it actually just came to when when I started first considering the idea of 'a man that was obsessed with dragon Pokemon and wanted to capture the Dragons of Legend' into my head, though I did want his name to be dragon related (thus Draconus). That and I wanted it to sound like a name mysterious gentleman would have.

Wait... dang I forgot the 'r', how did I do that.

Sign, well it is to late to change it now.

  14. Every one of your team ideas has a huge weakness.

Thank you, now I ask... can you tell me how to even partly fix the weaknesses while still staying to the theme? That is the kind of help I am looking for, as I understand that there will be at least some weaknesses by focusing on a single type. Also on the non-legendary steel team and eevee evolution team, I am surprised that you seem to suggest that the teams is completely unworkable. For example, on the steel team: would not such hybrids as Steel/Water, Steel/Psychic, Ground/Steel, Steel/Fighting, Rock/Steel, Steel/Electric when combined with a good move-set be able to take out most challenges?

Is it not part of the point of Pokemon to not fight with a team that "can take out any threat' and is really strong, but to learn to play with your favorites even if they may have weaknesses? That with dedication and focus, any team can be strong and good? For example, have you seen a video where a level 1 team was able to take out the Black White's Champion? (doesn't exactly count, but shows that a pokemon's type and move-set makes a big difference.)

  15. Hello there, Theodore Daconus! :)

Since you are/were into the old Pokémon Games, I had to come up with some random quote of those games... but it does not seem to happen right now. ^^ Welcome here, I hope you enjoy it a bit (I've already seen some posts from you more early this week). Beside reading books, what kind of music do you (frequently) listen to? And do you have some favourite artists? I do not have some useful things to say about books, because the only interesting things I've ever read are Sartre and Camus... but it does not seem you are reading that kind of books. Well, it doesn't matter. Oh, and, Dragonair really is cute. :)

    Bye for now!

    Thank you Sunny :)

I am still into the games, if I wasn't I wouldn't be working to put a few teams together. I also still have a fondness for the old games. On music and favorite artist, here is a list: Josh Groban, Celtic Woman, Kenny G, Yanni, Micheal Jackson, Mannheim Steamroller, John Williams, Classical, Folk Music, Soundtracks, Pop, Classic Rock, Rock Operas. Though I actually have favorites from all genres apart from Rap and the 'heavier' Rocks.

Hmm, philosophy huh. To be honest I find such subject very interesting, but... well I have always found most philosophies to be too complex or to use terms or expressions that I don't understand. I am interested in the Taoism philosophy though and understand it, does that count?

A quote from Red and Blue... "What's my grandson's name again?" :)

  16. Sorry for the confusion. Bobby = Gin. Don't mind me.

The world of competitive battling is a different matter than you think... not because you have legendaries and all but... well, I do not show my face often in the competitive scene as I used to, so it is best you ask Gin. Though I do have a lot to say, but I will post later.

Ah, okay. lol, I was wonder who Bobby was. Also, like I said in my first post to you, I have mostly just played the games. I never really got the chance to battle with others. Hence why i am asking for help.

  17. A' somewhat' more complete list of books I have read: Warrior Cats series, Guardians of GaHooele series, Pendragon series, Keys to the Kingdom series, Harry Potter series, Lord of the Rings series, Redwall series, Last Dragon Chronicles series, The Tales of Alvin Maker series, Ender's Game series, The Sisters Grimm series, Fablehaven series, Ravenspell series, Little House on the Prairie series, The Lost Years of Merlin series, Vampirates series, The Myth Adventures of Aahz and Skeeve series, My Side of the Mountain series, Hatchet series, Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, Watership Down, Le Morte d'Arthur, More than Human, Balook, White Fang, Call of the Wild, Dracula, Frankenstein, The Hunchback of Notre Dome, Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn, Gulliver's Travels, and so many more...

  18. Who is Bobby? Also if you mean that Theodore Daconus' "final" team is not competitive because they are all legendary I can see why you could say this, yet at the same time (at least I hope, as is wouldn't be fun otherwise) I do plan on his team being defeated by someone. My other non-legendary teams though should be competitive, just that they need work. There should be three.

  19. Nice to meet you. I'm one of competitive battlers here at PP, and I'd look at your teams, but I don't really see them. Are they linked here or something? O.o

Also, of the books you've listed, I've read them all, if I'm correct in saying that the Keys to the Kingdom series is that set by Garth Nix with the Morrow Days and whatnot?

The link to my teams is here, as well as information on Theodore Daconus: http://projectpokemon.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?71-Competitive-Battling-Discussion

Hmm, I'm not sure what you are asking. Yes Arthur Penhaligon must fight the Morrow Days, that series. Also, I have read every book of the series but the last one, Lord Sunday.

  20. Thank very much for the welcome. :)

Also, thank you for pointing out the error I had on move-sets. I was wondering though what you think of my idea and of my Pokemon persona Theodore Draconus? Any advice you would give on his Dragons of Legend team or any of my other teams?

I always preferred the look of Dragonair over Dragonite interestingly, that and I feel that adding flying to the mix is more of a disadvantage then a benefit. Heck it caused the ice moves that dragons were already weak to to be even stronger against Dragonite. Lol, yes Steel type was, and still is to some degree, very strong defensively. Which is why Dialga is among my favorite Legendarys, as it combines two of my favorite types (and looks cooler then Palkia I think).

Have you read the Warriors, Lord of the Rings, Chronicles of Narnia, Pendragon, and Keys to the Kingdom series?

  21. First off I would just like to say that I hold both Dragon and Steel type as being among my favorite type, though I put just Dragon. Second I have played the old school Pokemon games much more then the newer ones. (R/B/Y/G/S) I am a fan of Pokemon though I have not watched the tv series for a long time, though I do keep up with the movies.

I have an avid reader, and a huge bookworm. I can never pass up a good story. :)

I have started a bit of writing, but I have far more story and character 'ideas' then I do chapters. I am (if possible) an even bigger fan of anime and manga then I am of reading in general. One of my top favorite manga is Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle, and I feel if will remain such for a while (I would recommend the series to everyone here).

If you want to know more about me just ask.
