uhm just got the beta 1.0.0.0 and I am trying to mod the starter Pokemon but it pop up an error
Oh, wow, that's quite the error. It looks like it's coming from inside the UI framework or something. What was the last thing you did before the error came up?

Sorry, I'm still new to this, how exactly do you do that?
Do you go to the ModPack properties and check the 'Build Decrypted 3ds'? If so, then what? After you check "Build Decrypted 3DS", just use Solution -> Build.
Once it's finished, the ROM will be in (Solution Directory)/Modpack/Output.

Dumb question, but is it possible to run Citra with this mod?
Yep. Just be sure your modpack outputs a decrypted 3ds ROM.

@Norvill Rodgers Try redownloading Sky Editor, making sure to unblock the zip file as described in the introduction. At the time of writing, that part starts at step 5.

Can you screenshot it? Simplest way is to use the Snipping Tool in Windows.

hi! don't know if i have the wrong verison or what (4.0.1.0 ) but when i get to step 3, theres no popup window wizard to use a rom location, please help!
The latest version is 4.1.x. Try getting the latest linked to in the introduction:
With your version, you can proceed by right-clicking in the Base ROM project, and choosing "Add Existing File", but you may encounter other issues if you don't upgrade.

Is it possible to port SMD potrait with this mod?
It is, but only if you take care of resizing the portraits and reducing the number of colors yourself. They need to be 40x40 and have no more than 15 colors. (Maybe 16; it's been a while since I looked.)

Is there anything in ~/Modpack/Output? If not, is there anything in the error window?

I hope this works! sorry for the delay
I just pushed an update that should fix it. It also drops the requirement to use indexed PNG's, so now any kind of PNG that .Net can read should work. Here's the download link for Sky Editor, and here's a modpack that uses your portraits. I don't know what player you want, so I left the player selection alone.
Nice work on the portraits btw. Starly's face shows how I felt after finally getting it working.

Could you upload your portraits please?

I did another attempt and the solution completed successfully, (it showed two as completed) and got nothing in the errors windows.
In the Modpack/Output folder, there should be a zip file. Could you upload that please?

Hello, I have a problem trying to make the starters mod work. I can create the project and it shows as completed, but when I play, nothing changed.
Was there anything in the Errors window?
On 11/13/2018 at 9:01 AM, Arnaldo07 said:That looks like a UI error. Do you remember clicking anything in particular prior to encountering this?
On 11/18/2018 at 3:34 PM, LS375 said:This window lets you create a file. For the most part, this won't be useful. For PSMD editing, all files will be created for you, so you'll instead want to create a new project.

So about the XML files for the Pokemon and moves, I want to try adding Arceus to the game. would editing the XML files for the placeholder pokemon and $$$ work? Or is there more to it than just that?
You'd also need to take care of the graphics and animations. @psy_commando's gfx_crunch can help with that, but I don't even know everything that'd be involved with inserting Pokemon.
If you try out what you can, I'd love to hear your findings.

Sorry for the daft question, but I'm wanting to change my starter to Mew. However whenever I save the file, click off and return to editing it, it's automatically changed Mew to Mewtwo, probably assumed that I left an incomplete name. How can I get around this? Found some good portraits for Mew that I want to try out.
Sorry for the late reply.
I pushed an update that will force the dropdown to pay attention to the backspace key: https://teamcity.projectpokemon.org/repository/download/SkyEditor_SkyEditorROMEditor_B/42409:id/SkyEditor.ROMEditor.UI.WPF Build 196.zip
If you choose not to update, you'll need to specifically choose Mew from the dropdown without typing it in.
Testing this is kinda making me want to try playing as Mew some day:

Is there a way you can add in extra slots for the player's Natures and Partners?
Unfortunately, no, not with my current skill set. It would require some ASM edits that I don't know how to do.

First of all, thanks for making this! Very useful~ But I have some questions. The starter mod seems to be working just fine, but I can't seem to set the name of my partner and I... It also doesn't give me the full list of partners. Everything else works as normal so far. Is there anything I can do?
You can use the left and right arrows to see the other partners. As for the nickname, that's a known limitation. You can, however, change it from the main menu once you progress a little in the story.

I keep trying to get the Starter mod I create to work. I save the file and then rebuild the modpack but nothing is happening.
Are there any errors in the error window?

I'm getting this error.
It looks like you have Sky Editor somewhere you don't have write access to, which is strange considering it's on your desktop. Try moving it somewhere else maybe?

hello! im pretty excited about this editor, because ive always wanted to play zorua and other pokemon instead of the regular starters in PSMD. however, i seem to be stuck on the part where you extract the base rom? every single time, i get this error:im not very experienced with stuff like this, so i have no idea where to go from here! any help would be appreciated. thank you!Edit: ok i got it working with a different base rom.
Yeah, it's important to use a decrypted ROM. Encrypted ones aren't supported, and because of legal concerns, I have no plans to add support.
On 7/29/2018 at 4:12 PM, Thessbmzocker said:So I tried the older version.... and uhm, while it seems to compile everything correctly, there seems to be some funny things happening. during the selection the modified pokemon(being bulbasaur into Vulpix and charmander into Zorua) share the moveset and ability of the previously selected pokemon. so for example if I change charmander, and first look at squirtle and then go to charmander, he will have the ability and moves of squirtle. bulbasaur for example will have the moves and abilities of froakie. and if I modified bulbasaur and charmander, and go from bulbasaur to charmander, he will just have whatever pokemon bulbasaur copied, so froakie. Same with bulbasaur if I switch from charamnder, bulb will then have the stuff from squirtle.... So in the game itself things are different too... In the reflection it shows the Pokemon I wanted to be, Vulpix, but ingame Im still Bulbasaur, with the ability of froakie/squirtle and the attacks of froakie/squirtle.... same probably with my partner, a charmander with froakie/squirtle moves and abilities.... oh yeah, during close ups, probably when the better models are used, the character simply disappears but I guess thats normal considering its an older build.... However when your partner is first shown, it was the Zorua instead of charmander model, but when it went back to the normal cutscene it was just charmander again. So there seems to be something wrong.... I only played until you meet your partner, but yeah in the dungeons during the intro I was still a bulbasaur with froakies stuff...
It may just be an issue with the german version, as the german version made a few extra edits to the game. For example, the player character is always male and also refered to as such, and the partner is always female, and also refered to as such, no matter what choices you do during the questions.
I believe I've fixed the issue in the latest version. Please try again with this one.

if you need a screenshot of the exact crash itself, let me know.
I don't know for sure if it will resolve the crash, but the latest build did fix a crucial bug, and I think it's worth a try. Alternatively, the version Wol38 linked to may work.

Hello,
first of all this is a really good editor. It works flawlessly for the european Explorers of Sky version but it seems it doesnt quite work for the european Super Mystery Dungeon. During the script compiling it always comes to an error.... Ill provide a few screenshots as well as the error message.
Screens of my edits:
error message (a few words are in german sadly, but they shouldnt be that important)
Hope this can be resolved as I'd really love to play as different starters in Super too.
Grettings, Zocker
Thanks for the report. I've found the issue, but it'll take a few days to make the fix. In the mean time, you can try the previous version: https://teamcity.projectpokemon.org/repository/download/SkyEditor_SkyEditorROMEditor_B/30743:id/SkyEditor.ROMEditor.UI.WPF Build 125.zip
You'll need to recreate the starter project, since all of the lua scripts it uses behind the scenes are broken beyond repair and need to be recreated.
15 hours ago, Wol38 said:Good as I didn't update my version of the mod, I still have the one you gave me and that works fine, but are there new features in the update?
Nothing substantial. I'm always tweaking things, adding minor features, fixing bugs, or in the case of build 132, introducing new bugs. I haven't done it in a while, but I try to update the Sky Editor blog whenever there's any new notable feature.

When I tried to run the game the starter Pokemon remained unchanged. When I saw their information their movesets and abilities were different. They were not matching the information I entered and the original species of the Pokemon. I checked if the starter changes during the gameplay but the starter was still the Pokemon that is meant to be originally and its reflection was missing.
Sounds like Lua isn't compiling the scripts properly. I've pushed an update to Sky Editor that should capture these so we can learn more:
Try rebuilding the solution, and check the Errors dialog to see if anything's listed. If so, please send me the details. Unfortunately, the dialog still doesn't scroll, but you can use Control+C to copy the text.

Normally when there's references in the modpack like that, the projects would show up in the solution. Are there any errors listed in the errors tab?

I have no idea what's causing the issue. But just to confirm, which region of the game are you using?
That version is rather old. Try the one from the intro:
