I found an interesting issue, hoping someone can help. When I have my starter set as Darkrai, Bad Dreams one shots the Doduo during the tutorial, so I can't progress. Is there any way to skip it, or to temporarily remove my ability so that doesn't happen?

Yeah, you'll have to remove the ability first. This cutscene is a little brittle.

Question, as this is just me double-checking as I am kind dumb. The 'Starter Mod', it already covers all those things the other 'mods' listed have going, right? So if I want to edit my game to change my starters, I don't need to use bother with 'Portrait/Model' mods at all right?

Or do I need to tinker with those to fix stuff like portrait/models? Just double checking, really! As the Starter mod itself does have those features listed as patched in.

The 3DS starter mod covers both portraits and models. The Explorers of Sky one does not.

@theSLAYER I think there's some CSS issue, it's black for me on dark theme. Happens on both Safari and Chrome. That's why I changed it from automatic to white.

    Screenshot 2021-10-08 at 21.40.23.png

Seems the font color picker's "automatic" option doesn't remove the font color but instead just picks one. A better option is the remove formatting button, but that removes all formatting.

I fixed it for now by using find & replace with the underlying HTML.

for some reason trying to boot to smd crashes my 3ds just before the title screen loads. booting the game with game patching disabled works fine so the cartridge itself doesn't seem to be the issue, and no errors show up while building the mod. here is the modpack zip if its needed https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Ne8MXEFGMQyKhFfRnKlcdD82RPpEIjTP/view?usp=sharing, if the 3ds crash screen is necessary for whatever reason ill send that too

The starter mod changes a lot of things and can interfere with other mods such as your portrait and script mods. In Sky Editor, right-click the starter project and click Properties, then you'll be shown some project settings. Disable portrait and model patching and then save. Alternatively, get rid of your own portrait and model projects (and remove the "Modpack Files" directory from (Solution Path)/Modpack) if you want the starter mod's changes instead.

This might not be the right place to ask about this, but I can't find anywhere else to ask. Considering how much you've datamined and delved into PMSD, do you know where the item locations are stored? Not as in the IDs, I mean what floors in a dungeon they spawn, and percentages if any. I can't find this anywhere for basically the entirety of SMD. Same applies for Pokemon themselves - the data doesn't seem to be anywhere. Do you either know what it is or where it's located?

    I do not, unfortunately.

can I have some help with this?

the type names don't look right

(if I did spam, I'm sorry)

Left-click then right-click on the [Directory] node, then choose Create Project instead.

I don't know about this error. But...

This error means that you started with a CXI file. The 3DS builder library I'm using for building decrypted 3ds ROMs needs a little more information than a CXI file has, so you'll have to use another option instead.

On this screen, I recommend "Build Luma Layered FS". If you're using Luma 3DS, just make sure game patching is enabled and paste the contents of the SD Card folder in the output directory onto your SD card. It should also work on Citra 3DS, although there's a chance you'll need to rearrange some of the files. See the Citra 3DS website for details.

Hello friend (Evandixon), we have not seen each other for a long time, well... I found this ERROR while creating the Starter Mod project, for Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon (Europe, Multi Languages), well here I leave the screenshot that detect the error box and I wait that there is a solution.

You need to install Java on your computer.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is there a way to get the mod/patch I made and apply it to my physical copy of my game?

It's impossible to change the physical copy of the game, but you can play a modified copy with an emulator, flashcart, or Twilight Menu ++ if you have a hacked 3DS.

Hi there. The link provided for the workaround for this error doesn't seem to be working anymore. I get a '403 Forbidden' message when clicking the link provided in github: https://www.labs.blogs.com/its_alive_in_the_lab/2011/05/unblock-net.html

Instructions for unblocking can be found in the introduction:

And thanks for letting me know about the dead link. I've updated the Github issue that linked to it.

This one is a bug coming from the UI library that I don't know how to fix. It doesn't always happen, so try saving everything then restarting Sky Editor.

Thanks for making this! I have done everystep and everything opens correctly. one problem however is that i have clicked on save file. but when I open Pokemon Super mystery dungeon rom. it won't appear. it is decrypted and EU, is it a problem with citra? Should i open another file? trust me. i have read all comments on this forum but this is a weird (screenshot pokemon are test)

*edit* Also i have pressed on Solution -> Build and waited it. the output folder exists but no files @evandixon

Are there any errors in the errors dialog? (Because of a bug, it won't appear until you run a build after displaying the window.)

Tutorial: (PSMD only) The evolution must be the final evolution in the line. If you pick a Pokémon with multiple evolutions, the first on will be used. Refer to the PSMD Pokédex index to find which evolution comes first (for example, if the starter is Eevee, the first evolution is Vaporeon).

But ...., you can also add like this:

The examples I gave you. Can it also work like that of Eevee and Vaporeon?

Sky Editor will let you specify a lot of combos, but the game won't pick those up. If you don't set the evolutions properly, then when a special story event happens, your stats won't turn out right. For Pokémon that don't evolve, this can't be helped.

Actually no, there is no error in the box but when I gave it to 'build' in Solution, in your tutorial it says that once: "when you give the option build in Solution already there you just have to wait for it to confirm all the mods that you added", in that case I added a Starter Mod in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Gates to Infinity and once I finished modifying everything I hit 'build' and had to wait for it to finish (like I did in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky but still everything worked), but I don't know why this game did not when I was waiting for me to finish, it only lasted 20 seconds to finish (instead with explorers of sky it was 3 minutes that was delaying but it was a success), and then I responded saying: "What, but what happened here." So when I went to the address I said in your tutorial it says it is at: Modpack/(Output), but it turns out when I got there..........

    There was nothing....

Did the ModPack project show up in the Build Progress dialog? If not, there should either be errors in the errors dialog, or the mods are still building.

PSD: The Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Gates to Infinity Game weighed 878 MB, but I have another one saved in MEGA with 1.0 GB and it turns out that the game I have here weighs less than the other, also I have another news in Starter Mod I can only edit 3 Pokémon: Snivy, Owashott and Axew in this game, the game should not have more?, And I can only edit the species of the Pokémon that edit all its stats and moves (that has the game of Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon), but this only I can edit the species seriously was should have been more and had to be the same as the Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon game, but rather editing the species It would be good :).

Only 3 Pokémon can be edited because the game has separate checks to make sure Pikachu and Tepig are starters for some reason (as a sanity check maybe), and because you only need to edit 2 Pokémon to choose your player and partner, fixing it hasn't been a priority.

As for stats and moves, that just hasn't been researched thoroughly enough, and it also hasn't been a priority. In Super Mystery Dungeon, the moves are required to be present when modifying starters, while in Gates to Infinity, it just works.

Evandixon, I have a problem in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Gates to Infinity, The Sky Editor does not want to build the 'Starter Mod' that I added and that is why I clicked many times on the 'rebuild' option of 'Solution' but still it does not finish the process and it says: 'Extracting Portraits' and in your tutorial it says that the 'Portraits' only works in the PSMD but in this game, and why will it be? I need your help Evandixon!

Are there any errors in the errors dialog?

  17. 7 hours ago, eskder said:

Thanks it worked, but now I have another problem, when I'm going to choose my partner the game limits it to only gen 1 and gen 2 pokemon. Granted it's not that much of a problem because I can just edit the game again but I wanted to know if this is a glitch or if it's supposed to be like this

The UI does a bad job of indicating you can do this, but you can use the Left and Right buttons to see more pages of options.

The starter, models and portrait, didn't touch the script and the rom was decrypted

The starter model touches both the models and the portraits. This can be disabled by right-clicking the project, clicking Properties, unchecking the appropriate checkboxes, and saving.

I dumped it directly from the cartridge using godmode9. Is there another way to do it?

IIRC that only dumps the encrypted part. You'll also need to select the output file and have GM9 fully decrypt it.
