  1. Glad to see this bad boy up and posted :D. Also cool to see my lovely Louis up there too :P. It's also cool to see some of the sets I'm planning on running are quite valid too :D. For Swana, You can make quite a good set that kind of slaves it yet makes it offencively viable by running Fly/ Surf/ Ice Beam/ Roost.

I'll probably be running back through this when I decide to finish this run through. I can't bring myself to play this game much though :/

  2. Ok I'll give this a quick answer... well try to.

1] People do play competitively over Wi-Fi, however the Wi-Fi environment is very different to the simulator based environment. The Key difference is the duration of the game. That being said, when you are playing Wi-Fi if you are impatient or do not want to be spending an hour in a battle, you can basically only play Offence, where as in a simulator Matches are played much more quickly due to limited visuals; thus stall is a very viable game plan. I suggest you go to Smogon to look up the different play styles. If you are going to play over wifi instead of on a simulator, I suggest you still download a simulator for team testing purposes. I.E Before you make your team in on your game (which can be an arduous task) make it first on the simulator and test it's viability. If it doesn't work, you've saved yourself a lot of time.

2] People make their teams using every method you can think of. Some will take the time to catch every pokemon in their team with Perfect IVs through RNG abuse (search that here or on google to find out more) and EV train their pokemon by hand, others will use an AR to generate their pokemon, and others use PokeSav/Pokegen. Know that hacking pokemon into your game for Nintendo based Tournaments will get you disqualified from the tournament. I won't go into the ins and outs of all that, that's for a different topic. As for the "general consensus" A lot of people do frown on those that hack pokemon into their game.

3] For hardware you can use an Action replay. For Software you can download PokeGen (follow the link in sig for that). Also Download Pokémon Online. That's the battle simulator. You can find that by Googling "Pokémon Online Simulator."

The best thing you can do is familiarise yourself with everything related to every pokémon. It sounds like it'd be a task, but it will definitely help you. I don't mean learn what level X pokémon learns Y attack, or the pokedex number of Pokémon X, But rather learn what moves are physical, what moves are special, understand the impact DVs and just basically learn everything that a pokemon can do with its given attributes. I recommend learning the mechanics of the game by searching through serebii, and for the actual pokemon I recommend looking through the Smogon Strategy dex... and learn about EVERY pokemon there (for 5th gen pokemon, go into the smogon forum and look for "5th Gen Analyses"). That way you'll never be surprised. There are also some fantastic articles on smogon that will help you learn about all the various aspects of the metagame, so give all of those a read, too. All the while gain experience by actually battling through the simulator; theory is nothing if you don't know anything about the practical side.

I guess that's about it. If you have any questions feel free to PM me or reply to this topic and we'll see if we can't help you out some more. :)

  3. Welcome to the site, sunny day.

    You

It's nice to meet you, and certainly nice to see a detailed opening thread... Even if the font colour did half melt my face. That aside, I, too, am a musician. I play Guitar, bass, drums and a little pianeee.

    are

There is a bounty of information on all things ROM here, as you've seen, so you should find yourself getting heavily engrossed in that section in no time :P.

    Troll'd

Again, nice to meet you, and enjoy your stay.

  4. Welcome the the site, Hawk.

I, myself, am more partial to Noctowl. T'is cooler :P.

As for competitive battling, I'm also into it, alas our Competetive battling section is a little dead at the moment. I would happily lend a hand where possible, though.

I hope you enjoy your stay.

  5. Welcome to the site, Demilz

S'always nice to see another old school player :). If you're looking to battle in the mean time, there is always Pokémon Online, which is a Pokémon battle simulator. We do host our own server there, however it is quite quiet at times, so send me a personal message (PM) if you want to arrange a battle there.

As for the event codes, feel free to look around and post in the RAM section for ARDS codes and such, just remember to actually search before you post :P.

If there's anything else I can help you with, just ask.

    Enjoy your stay.

  6. Kaphotics' post.

A great video. But this really just illustrates human behaviour, it doesn't say there isn't a God.

I agree with the guy though, Science and Religion should be separate. Science needs to discover things, and Religion, as the guy points out, is a lazy escape when someone meets the limits of their knowledge. But that doesn't go to say that there isn't a divine creator, that just says that when we can't explain it we blame it on one.

Honestly I could liken this to blaming the fart (gap in knowledge) on the dog (God). Even if the dog didn't actually fart, the dog still exists :P.

Also, I do like the name link thing. It's not a bad idea. I'll update the OP.

  8. I'll do a quick rate. If you want me to expand a bit later on I will at request :).

I would say put Scarf flygon in place of Gliscor. Gyarados can function as a great stand alone physical sweeper. Flygon being a ground type can switch in on starmie's Tbolt, and flygon can Hurt the hell out of it with U-turn or scout for the switch in.

Turn gengar in to either a protect or sub set and watch him kill Ttar, scizor and other assorted annoyances.

Put heatran in place of Charizard, Flygon OR gyara can take the earth attacks aimed at him. Opposing scargon firing off EQ will be set up bait for your gyara, whilst other EQ/EP users will more times than not be scared off by gyara OR get hurt by flygon.

Get rid of the Bronzong lead and go for something that can get rocks up fast, it looks like your going for a strong offensive team so someone like aerodactyl or azelf would work really well.

staraptors place can be taken by forrestress, drawing in fire attacks for heatran whilst spinning away the rocks for gyarados.

I may look over this again later, but that's my initial thoughts.
