  1. Ah Ok I see... Edits will be in Bold :)

I need a good OU team to play with some friends. I'm a complete noob at this... and usually I used Ubers, but I think its about time I make a team for Standard rules.

For the Natures, I will use pokesav to make a nice PID/IV set and a nature that fits the pokemon well. It will ether be Adament or Modest (All 31 IVs if Modest, and all 31 IVs (but a 24 IV on Sp Att) if Adament.

    Stats/EVs are HP/ATT/DEF/SP ATT/SP DEF/SPD

    So far I have:

Ok so I see that most of your pokemon have the same EV spread, which would show, from what I can see, that you're going for a balanced sort of feel. Though the spreads you've given for each pokemon could work in some circumstances and on some other pokemon, you're not working to some of pokemon's strengths. So, I'll try and help with that. :)

    Heatran @ shuca berry

    Nature: Naive

Moves: Stealth Rock, Fire Blast, Explosion, Earth Power

    EVs: 4 HP, 252 SpAtk, 252 Spe

Heatran makes for a good lead pokemon with it's access to both stealth rock and explosion. With a shucca Berry, earth type attacks are halved once (taking a 4x Effective earthquake down to 2x). And with the amount of swampert and aerodactyl leads, you really do need that berry. Fire blast is for STAB and Earth power for coverage. Stealth rock is to help weaken your oppanants pokemon each switch and explosion is for a last minute ... Boom, for when times are tough and you're struggling to handle someone.

    Zapdos @ Leftovers/Lightclay

    Nature: Bold/ Calm

Moves: Thunderbolt, Heat wave, Roar/Reflect/Light screen/ extrasensory/ Thunderwave, Roost.

    EVs: 248 HP, 228 Def/SpDef, 32 Spe

One of the scariest zapdos sets you could use would be it's defensive set (which is what I've listed above.) It has a good mix of both power and defensive capabilities. You have a lot of variety if you chose to run this set and I'll explain your options. Firstly the EV's and nature should complement eachother. So if you run Calm, you want to put 228 EV's into Special defence to make it specially defencive. You could then also run Lightscreen to make it a super specially defensive wall (which would also help your team take special hits better) or reflect to add a bit of physical bulk to this set aswell (with again the added bonus of the rest of your team being more physically defencive). If you chose to run either light screen or reflect you could also use light clay to boost reflect/light screen's effect to 8 turns instead of 5. If you don't want to run either of the two available screens you could use roar to quickly get rid of pokemon that zapdos can't handle with thunderbolt or heatwave. For instance Tyranitar laughs in the face of this set, so roar could be of use. Similarly Extrasensory adds a little more coverage and take care of things like rotom. Thunderwave also provides good support for your team and cripples some big time sweepers such as salamence who rely on their speed to get the sweep. I'm assuming this is for Wifi play as you say you're playing with friends, However if you're not playing wifi and have access to hidden powers, hidden power ice or grass both help to solve your tyranitar problem - hidden power grass also taking down swampert.

On an added note I recommend using zapdos as a specially defensive wall as you have a suicune on your team who runs a mean physically defensive set

    Latias @ Life Orb/ Lum Berry/ Leftovers

    Nature: Timid/ Modest

Moves: Dragon Pulse, Surf, Recover/Substitue, Calm Mind

    EVs: 4 HP, 252 SpAtk, 252 Spe

Latias, generally speaking, works really well as a special sweeper, with it's high special defence, typing and ability, you can find some easy switch ins to set her up. Again you have a bit of variety as to how you work this set. Dragon pulse provides good solid STAB and Surf handles most things that resist it. You could either run substitute or recover, Substitute saves Latias getting vrippled by a status, while recover lets you recover away the damage taken while you set up calm minds. If you run substitue over recover then run Life orb or leftovers. If you run recover you might want to use a lum berry to save you from status afflictions, though life orb is better for it's sheer power. If you run thunderwave on zapdos then you can have a modest nature on Latias, as she should out run most things once they are paralysed. If not then make sure you run Timid to get that added speed boost.

    Lucario

Moves: Close Combat, Extreme Speed, Crunch, Stone Edgge

    Stats (lvl 100): 281/350/177/233/176/279

    Item: Choice Band

    EVs: 0/252/4/0/0/252

This set is fine and works well with both Zapdos and Heatran. If you predict an incoming earthquake switch to zapdos to resist it, or if you predict a fire type attack switch to heatran to absorb it and give heatran a new lease on life.

    Gengar: @ Life Orb

    Nature: Timid/ Modest

Moves: Substitute, Hypnosis, Focus Blast, Shadow Ball

    EVs: 4 HP, 252 SpAtk, 252 Spe

Gengar is a cool pokemon to have on any team that uses any form of entry hazards, though arguably rotom does a better job, if you have wifi you can't use the rotom appliances anyway. With this set the idea is to send Gengar out on anything that he resists specifically explosion, rapid spin, choice locked close combat etc etc... Simply yyou'll have a lot of opportunities to send out Gengar. Once he's out sub up, put someone to sleep then have some fun with Shadow ball (STAB) and Focus blast (which, together, provides universal coverage. Depending on what you feel you need, you can run either timid or modest for either more speed or more special attack.

    Suicune @ Leftovers

    Nature: Bold

Moves: Surf, Ice Beam, Calm Mind, Roar/Substitute

    EVs: 252 HP, 252 Def, 4 SpAtk

This is a cool way to run suicune as he has a lot of bulk as it is and also has a lot of attack power after you've used calm mind a couple times. Surf is for STAB, Ice Beam is for coverage. You can either use substitute to hide behind while you use calm mind or, like zapdos, you can use roar to eliminate other threats. You want to have one of either Zapdos or Suicune to be using Roar to take advantage of the stealth Rocks that Heatran has Laid.

EDIT: Since nobody has posted in this thread, it has been updated with what I think may be a complete finish. Now I guess I'm asking for suggestions?

I feel that you could make use of blissey over Zapdos as that way you have a reliable way of removing statuses that can hurt your pokemon... and also provides a good way to counter special pokemon :).

Similarly you might want to run rapid spin to stop zapdos taking so much damage from stealth rocks .. or to just get rid of entry hazards in general. A good spinner would be forretress and you might want to run that over suicune.

    These two sets would be:

    Forretress (M) @ Leftovers

    Ability: Sturdy

    EVs: 200 HP/52 Atk/252 Def

    Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spe)

    - Gyro Ball/Earthquake

    - Rapid Spin

    - Explosion

    - Earthquake/Spikes/Toxic Spikes

    Blissey (F) @ Leftovers

    Ability: Natural Cure

    EVs: 25 HP/252 Def/232 SDef

    Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)

    - Aromatherapy

    - Heal Bell

    - Seismic Toss

    - Toxic

  2. I think Raikous moveset may be an apology. Remeber movies 3 and 4? Featuring solely Entei(with Charizards return) and Celebi(who was saved by Suicune)? They never really gave Raikou his own special movie, so I'm betting he will be more powerful/frequent in this one, and his nice boost in games is an apology for waiting like ten years to give him a theater spot.

Raikou got that special series in the anime if I remember rightly.. it had jimmy and his typhlosion, team magma or galactic or someone was trying to steal raikou. Still, good point though

  3. Reckon this will bump Entei into OU? It will out class Arcanine in UU and find a nice niche in OU as the only fire type to know extreme speed :P. Which will still be stronger than Infernape's mach punch after STAB.

I can just see this set killing everything

    Entei @ Life Orb

    Ability: Pressure

    EVs: 132 HP/124 Atk/252 Spd

    Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)

    - Substitute

    - Howl

    - Flare Blitz

    - Extreme Speed

  4. Not possible ... you could edit it into a rom using hex and what not ... Short of that I can't think of anything. You could load the purified shadow lugia's PKM file into pokesav and add it to your team? That's the only way I can think of getting that exact lugia (the one w/ psycho boost + featherdance).

  5. Tbird, this is Wifi not Shoddy, so do not suggest Hidden Powers or Rotom forms or legendaries since they're very difficult to obtain (or any form of IV modification as that is not possible).

My bad. :) Though I just wanted to cover all basis.. and at the point of posting that particular part was not sure of wifi or shoddy. I'll be more careful next time :D.

  6. Hey guys,

Thought I would finally get involved with the competitive scene (was always too lazy before). So I just made my first team and I need to know if it has any obvious/stupid mistakes in it. Also, any criticisms or ideas/improves/suggestions are really welcome.

    dpiconani142.gif

    Aerodactyl @ Focus Sash

    Nature: Jolly

    Ability: Pressure

    EVs: 252 Attack/252 Speed/4HP

    Role: Suicide Lead

    - Crunch

    - Earthquake/ Roar

    - Stealth Rock

    - Stone Edge

Comment: Basically this assures me I can put Stealth Rock up with focus sash and then either switch/attack depending on the situation. However, I need to know if Roar is a good idea? I was thinking I could just put down stealth rock, and if the pokemon is a strong counter to my aero I could just Roar their poke out (whilst damaging his next poke). This is all based on the assumption Roar has no speed priority...does it? If not I can stick with my current Earthquake build.

Standard lead. Works well with your team as he secures some OHKO by putting up rocks. Roar has a negative priority, but don't be so quick to dismiss it. For instance, taunting something that requires it's none attacking moves for it to be useful will usually switch out. So roaring on the switch will keep the counter at bay and rack up some extra SR damage. It depends on if you think you can predict a switch all that well really. However roar could be good for late game (providing he servives the beginning phase of the match) for pseudo hazing set up sweepers.

Just thought ... Swampert could work well here too, if you want the rock + Roar combo

    Swampert @ Leftovers

    Nature: Relaxed

    EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def

    - Stealth Rock

    - Earthquake

    - Ice Beam / Avalanche

    - Roar

Does the same as Aerodactyl, except can be taunted. But also works more effeciently as a later game phazer. If you chose avalanche over ice beam make sure to run 0 Speed IV's so that avalanche will be also last and twice as powerful.

    dpiconani065.gif

    Pokemon Alakazam @ Focus Band

    Nature: Modest

    Ability: Inner Focus

    EVs: 252 Sp.A/252 Speed/4 HP

    Role: Special Sweeper

    - Shadow Ball

    - Psyhic

    - Grass Knot/ Calm Mind

    - Focus Blast/HP fighting

Comment:I wasn't entirely sure about which item to attach. I tried Choice Specs. but it ended up biting in my the ass as I couldnt use the variety of my other moves....so i played it safe and stuck with Focus Band (which im starting to see as a bad idea due to stealth rocks).

This looks like a choice set without the choice item, which can work well, but you're going to really want life orb on alakazam if you're not using calm mind. Also if you don't want to opt for life orb, then it would be better to put on focus sash, as focus band is unreliable. You might also want to think about putting HP fighting over focus blast ... as two consecutive HP fightings will do more damage than one focus blast + a miss. Similarly you could run calm mind over grass knot, though Alakazam is little to frail to be able to pull it off.

    dpiconani466.gif

    Pokemon Electivire @ Expert Belt

    Nature: Adamant

    Ability: Motor Drive

    EVs: 252 Attack/252 Speed/4 HP

    Role: Physical Sweeper

    - Ice Punch

    - Thunder Punch

    - Fire Punch/ Cross Chop

    - Earthquake

Comment: Just a standard physical sweeper I guess. I like the variety of his movepool a lot and so didnt want choice items restricting it.

Cross chop will hit steels, rocks and ice pokemon a lot harder and has a high crit ratio :)

    dpiconani462.gif

    Magnezone @ Choice Specs

    Nature: Modest

    Ability: Magnet Pull

    EVs: 252 Sp.A/252 Speed/4 HP

    Role: Special Sweeper

    - Flash Cannon/ Substitute/ Magnet Rise

    - Explosion

    - Thunderbolt

    - Hidden Power Fire

Comment: Standard special sweeper I guess. I like having Choice Specs. on this guy as his movepool is quite limited as it is so I'm not missing out on too much. However I am pretty stuck with my fourth move. I wanted it to be a different type Hidden Power but I got stuck with rock. Should I leave it or do you have any other reccomendations for his fourth spot?

Hidden power fire is better, Magnezone works best as a steel trapper, so make sure to throw on Hidden power fire :).Magnet rise or substitute both would work really well .. to stop the likes of steelix killing you before you can kill them. A well predicted substitute could foil an explosion, whereas magnet raise will stop earthquake from hindering you. However, as you already have a special sweeper in alakazam, cross chop on Electivire I don't think magnezone functionality as either a steel killer or special sweeper is particulalrly needed. So you could throw Gyarados in this guys place as he provide brillliant synergy with electivire. Thunderbolts aimed at gyarados would boost electivires speed into sweeping range, and gyarados could happily take the earthquakes aimed at electivire.

    Gyarados @Life Orb/Leftovers

    Nature: Adamant

    EVs: 156 HP / 72 Atk / 96 Def / 184 Spe

    - Dragon Dance

    - Taunt/Substitue

    - Waterfall

    - Stone Edge / Bounce

This set provides the same bulk that magnezone provided and overall adds better synergy to the team, as you at the moment lack a water type. The idea is to either sub up to prevent status and block damage as you dance up, and taunt prevents you from getting phazed or hazed. Waterfall is standard stab and provides flinch :D :D, Bounce is stab and provides paralysis support. Whereas stone edge kills dragons.

    dpiconani205.gif

    Forretress @ Leftovers

    Nature: Impish

    Ability: Sturdy

    EVs: 252 HP/ 178 Def./ 80 Attack

    Role:

    - Earthquake

    - Explosion

    - Rapid Spin

    - Spikes

Comment: I guess just a standard physical wall. I needed one and I liked foretresses resistances/stats. Explosion can come in handy too (hence attack EV's).

Yup works well. You could run Weezing here for hazing support + will o wisp/toxic support, but then you lose the added advantage of spikes.

    Ani477MS.png

    Dusknoir @ Leftovers

    Nature: Impish

    Ability: Pressure

    EVs: 252 HP/ 204 Sp.Def/54 Def.

    Role: Special Wall

    - Shadow Sneak

    - Fire Punch

    - Pain Split

    - Will-o-Wisp

Comment: Standard special wall. Had really good IV's when I found him (31 in Def, Sp. Def and Speed, 28 HP) but had a REALLY low attack iv of 6. I dont know how damaging that attack iv of 6 is, but his other iv's were awesome so I kept him. Also im not so sure about his moveset. I like Shadow Sneak (catches people off-guard all the time), Painsplit and will-o-wisp - but im not so sure about fire punch. I mean it helps deal with poke such as heracross and is the only fire move on my team....but its very weak, especially combinded with the fact my Dusk has terribble attack.

Any of the rotom appliances could help (though if you're playing wifi I'm not sure if they are usable or not) they provide good bulk I think. Rotom H would also provide more fire coverage and work as a good spin blocker. If you want to lose the spin blocking roll you can run blissey (she is the best special anyway remember) and would also work really well.

So I've only ever played 3 games of poke online, and it doesnt seem like this team has any crazy uber weaknesses, but I feel like it could really do with some improvement. I kind of want one more bulky pokemon that I can switch in to, but I also want to retain the solid offensive set-up I have going (i think its offensive at least?). I was thinking maybe a Heatran in place for my Alakazam, but not too sure.

Any help/tips for online would be great.

    dpiconani462.gifdpiconani205.gifAni477MS.png

    I hope that helped :)

  7. Yeah I think it would be cool too .. though I doibt it would happen. Who knows what gen 5 will bring ... I personally think a dawn stone on dragonair (or level up next to dawn rock [made up gen 5 place xD]) would be cool .. turn it into a psychic dragon with levitate.

  8. The team is offensive and tries to be very fast paced and powerful, the only defensive aspect comes from switching in to type resistances/immunities and Latias (Which I'll explain in detail later).

    The Lead

    142.png

    Aerodactyl @ Focus Sash

    Jolly|Pressure

    4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe

    - Taunt

    - Stealth Rock

    - Stone Edge

    - Earthquake

Fairly standard OU lead. The only thing it reliably loses to is Empoleon or another Aerodactyl when it loses the speed tie. (Empoleon gives me an easy switch to Latias on turn 2 who won't take much damage from the aqua jet) Apart from that its great for blocking the opponent's SR (or other setup move) and always lives at least to turn 2. If it survives with 1HP it can come in later as death fodder and if its sash isn't broken in the lead fight (ideal scenario) it can deal out heavy damage in the mid-late game.

Standard lead does what it's supposed to do and does it well. No problems here.

    The 'bulky' sweeper

    380.png

    Latias@Leftovers

    Bold / Levitate

    4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

    - Calm Mind

    - Recover

    - Dragon Pulse

    - Surf

First things first, I LOVE this pokemon. Remember this is a wi-fi and ds only team so the nature isn't perfect but it still manages to kick some serious ass. It has so many opportunities for a switch in with its impressive defenses and resistances and after 2 calm minds the opponent has next to no chance of winning. With a powerful ice beam (that its weak to) only taking off about 25% the only thing that can really kill it is a physical dark or ice attack, which aren't common, and whatever is attacking has to outspeed AND OHKO Latias with the attack. In short if you give it a chance to set up you will be swept by it. In a way this is my main sweeper as it normally ends up doing the most damage but if it goes down I'm in no way helpless.

Again standard set, provides nice ground resistances for heatran, scizor + Jolteon

The 'what the #@$* was that' factor

    135.png

    (Yellow doesn't show up T_T)

Jolteon @ Choice Specs - Life Orb

    Timid / Volt Absorb

    4 DEF / 252 SPA / 252 SPE

    - Thunderbolt

    - Hidden Power (Ice)

    - Shadow Ball - Charge Beam

    - Baton Pass - Charge beam

Nobody expects Jolteon to be good and before you know it you've lost two pokemon to it. It has great opportunities to come in - thunderbolt is one of the only things that hits the rest of my team for decent damage and thunderwave is becoming increasingly popular. Specs boosted thunderbolt kills things. It just ends them. Baton Pass is rarely used but can be good for scouting and the remaining two moves make for good coverage (although most things will die to thunderbolt). It makes a massive target for earthquakes but that gives me a great opportunity to bring in Latias.

I very much prefer the charge beam variant, one successful charge beam boost and you're at the same power as spec... plus you can do it again and again and switch between moves. I would run Tbolt - HP Ice - Shadow ball - Charge Beam, However at the lose of coverage you could make him a somewhat ideal passer to the likes of heatran (Scarf + SPA boost(s) = deadly :P). Though of course, the general sweeper route is the easiest and more reliable way to go.

    The Scizor

    212.png

    Scizor @ Choice Band

    Adamant / Technician

    248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spe

    - Bullet Punch

    - Pursuit

    - U-Turn

    - Brick Break

    or

    Scizor @Life orb

    4HP (or 4 Spe ... or 4 Def)

    252 ATK

    252 SPE (or 252 HP)

    -Swords dance

    -Superpower

    -Bullet Punch

    -Roost

Pretty standard fair for a Scizor. Bullet punch is as good as ever and it makes a great late game sweeper. Most games will finish with a combination of stacking stealth rock damage and bullet punches to the opponent's final pokemon. This is so much of a late game sweeper for this team that it sometimes doesn't even come into play until the last few turns. If its forced out in the mid game to deal with a threat (*cough* t-tar *cough*) then it has amazing synergy with...

I hate Scizor so there's not much I can say about him. Though the swords dance set is pretty sick. Though I suppose having to set up takes away from your fast paced kick ass style.

    The 'Puppy'

    485.png

    Heatran @ Choice Scarf

    Naive / Flash Fire

    4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

    - Fire Blast

    - Earth Power

    - Dragon Pulse

    - Explosion

Another backup sweeper along the lines of Jolteon, it switches in on attacks that get targeted at a lot of the team and its STAB move will do a lot of damage to everything. Again the other moves are for coverage and explosion is (quite obviously) a last resort but one that has proved to be fairly effective.

    Fine

    The 'Hit things'

    68.png

    Machamp @ Leftovers

    Adamant / No Guard

    252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spe

    - Dynamic Punch

    - Payback

    - Rest

    - Sleep Talk

The original idea behind this was that it was bulky, could take hits and deal them out, was a sure switch in to everything because of having lots of HP, that sort of thing. But that hasn't been working, its too slow to get anything done in today's metagame and its not even feeling as bulky as it should. The confusion is still useful but the opportunities to get a dynamic punch off are few and far between. And its normally at the expense of a lot of damage to it. In short I want to replace it but without losing a physical attacker on the team and I still want another good counter to Blissey. I've considered Lucario but that makes me steel heavy and I'd rather not have Magnezone wipe out my team. Any suggestions here would be welcomed.

Gyarados, Heracross and Honchkrow could fill this guy's place pretty well. They all provide good ground resistance and have sick fighting power. Gyarados Would probably work best as it loves to be paired with jolteon. (like scizor and heatran) Gyardos will take the earthquakes meant for Jolteon and jolteon will happily take the thunderbolts aimed at gyarados. It provides good bulk, stupid attack and speed after 1 - 2 dances and similarly you're lacking a water type. Honchrow fits the bill well aswell, It similarly draws in electric type attacks, while also being immune to ground attacks. Problem is though you'll probably want to run 'krow with a choice scarf, and that's then three pokemon locked into one move. Heracross provides stupid attack as well and maintains the fighting type you're after - though again you may well end up running a choice variant, which, again, is locked into single attack mode. (Though Guts + Plus Flame orb is awesome :D) Staraptor is another good choice, who also has the speed that honchkrow lacks ... though is a little on the frail side

any ground type with access to dark moves might have its way with you, also a weakened scizor might not necessarily OHKO a tyranitar ... and then you're screwed. Um also things like dugtrio could prove to be a nuisance with arena trap (Earquakes on Jolteon, heatran and scizor ... suckerpunch/nightslash for Latias (of whom it does outspeed) and then stone edge for everything else). If heatrans down Weavile could cause some problems too.

I think you might just want to replace one of your ground weak pokemon, I mean you have got levitate + flying pokemon, but 3/6 being weak to ground attacks is chancing it a bit. You might wanna try Leafeon in Scizors place?

    Leafon @Life Orb

    Jolly

    EVs 252 atk/ 4 def / 252 spe

    - Swords Dance

    - Leaf Blade

    - Return

    - Quick Attack/ Synthesis

    Hope I helped lol :D.

  9. This'll take a while but a way you could solve all of your problems would be to get the Riolu off of Riley (I think it's him) in platinum, trade it over to HG/SS, Slap the EXP share on it and go through the pokemon league like 8million times and give it close combat and earthquake (if it doesnt get earthquake .. I'm not sure, then throw on bone rush, it's in game so who cares right .. plus it's a cool move) and then that is the snorlax and pikachu both solved. Similarly you could get the Tyrogue from that guy in the mountain (oh yes I'm feeling descriptive today) evolve it into any hitmon you want - again close combat + earthquake job done :D :D

  10. I have to say this way (Overpowered / High Class / Middle Class / Low Class) does seem ... well better to me. I also like the idea of 'S / A / B / C' ... actually I prefer the latter. It just defines the pokemon within the tiers .. better? I dunno but I'd be happy to see either of the two.

  11. I've been looking around for you dude and I can't find anything that would help with adding to the pokedex, just the aforementioned removal of pokemon already present in the the dex. I'm also not sure about how you're going to do it in any case as I think I've read that there is an assigned amount of memory to each aspect (the maps and 'dex) so it might be difficult to get passed that. However don't give up, wait for someone more informed to post or go see if there's any tutorials lying around deep within the pokecommunity forum ... Or try in the IRC.

    Sorry I couldn't be more help :/.

  12. Ok then this sounds like a cool story, but is this for GBA or DS, and are you making it alone. I mean I can't help but if you're looking for people to help you might want to advertise that too :). Also you mention 5 regions ... how are you doing that lol? and does that go to say there will be forty gyms :o?
