  1. Are the starters locked to be male only? I started over and have been soft-resetting for a while (mainly for a female Eevee but also hoping for a Shiny), but I've yet to see even the Zigzagoon be female. The natures are different every time. Is there something I'm missing, or do I just have the absolute worst luck?

  2. The Poke Snacks sold at Phenac City's mart are also broken. They get added to the ones I bought from Pyrite.

Edit because I've run into a bit of an issue with an attack:

    Spoiler

Shadow Trip seems to be freezing the game consistently for me. I'll have Sableye use it in battle, and on the next turn the game freezes. I've tried picking attacks, switching Pokemon, using an item, and calling on the turn after using it, but all of them result in a freeze. It also doesn't matter whether or not Shadow Trip actually hits. Shadow Snooze, Shadow Trap, and Destiny Bond all seem to work fine from what I've tried. Oddly though, if I use Shadow Trip and it ends the battle, everything seems to continue normally.
I've tried this in Pyrite Colosseum, against one of the trainers standing around in Pyrite, against a wild Tangela, and against the Rider in Agate. All end in a freeze if I do as described. I'm playing it on a Wii using Nintendont, if that matters.

  3. For me, buying Poke Snacks from Gateon Port or Agate Village gives me usable snacks that work like they should, but the ones I buy in Pyrite are listed separately in the bag and don't work at all. The ones from Duking and the herb lady work fine as well.

This is in 1.1.6, by the way. Other than this little hiccup, I've been thoroughly enjoying the variety and challenge in this. It's a ton of fun.

  4. I actually found a version of PokeGen prior to removal of support of generation 3. It's posted with the much older version of my original program. They're both gigantic dialogs, which everyone seems to absolutely adore, so have fun.

As a side note, generation 3 codes required extra codes to disable some sort of memory shifting that occurred on those games. (Maybe only Emerald or something, I don't remember.)

Thanks a lot for these. I like the look of these more than Ciro's.

As for those codes, I know they're usually needed for FireRed and LeafGreen, but I'm not sure if they're needed in Emerald. It has something to do with RNG or something like that.

  5. I do, but it'd be extremely annoying, and I wouldn't want to put in the effort to make sure everything is accurate. (Especially with Black/White coming up.) I do, however, still have a separate exe from back before I even upgraded to generation 4. It's probably horrible in terms of making things legally (for example, I know it doesn't allow you to specify a PID, it does it for you in the completely illegal way that PokeGen does if you leave the PID editbox blank), but I can post it if you want.

If you're still willing to post the exe, I'd like to try it out.

  6. Edit: I can't reproduce this or find any problem with moving Pokemon. The only thing I've found is that party Pokemon aren't compacted when one not at the end is moved into a box.

    Thanks for the reports.

I think that was my problem. The Bidoof was originally in Slot 1 of Box 1, and I tried to move him to the second place in my Party. I was able to move him to the first slot.

Anyways, keep up the great work.

  7. Um, quick question, how do I get Pokegen'd pokemon to show up in my pokedex?

In the latest version (3.0b), go to Tools -> PokeDex. That's where you can edit the PokeDex, so you can make the Pokemon show up as if you caught it in-game.

On another note, I noticed two bugs when I loaded my Platinum save in 3.0b.

I was messing around with the PokeDex editor, and so I set it to "Seen All" and "Caught All" and then "Caught All Owned." I figured I'd load my Platinum save to try it out. (Not sure if it matters, but it's .duc format, backed-up using ARDSi.)

I went back to the PokeDex in PokeGen, and it said I had seen 499 Pokemon and caught 498. I didn't change anything when this showed up.

I did make an Abra just to test the new version out.

I also noticed that when I tried to drag my Bidoof from Box 1 to my Party, it didn't work. However, I was able to drag my Turtwig from my Party to Box 1, and then back to my Party.

When I restored the save to my Platinum game cart, the PokeDex in-game showed no change, and the Abra I made showed up fine.

  8. Gottcha, and since it I will only be able to transfer to a 4th gen game through PalPark it will display as Hoenn or Kanto as the location met correct?

The location met should be set to Pal Park in PokeGen. It will change in-game depending on what the Origin is set to.

If set to Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald, the Pokemon's Summary Screen will show Hoenn as the location met.

If set to FireRed/LeafGreen, the Summary Screen will show Kanto.

If set to Colosseum/XD, the Summary Screen will show Faraway Place.

  9. Would be an awesome addition (probably already interpreted that in my post hah), hopefully it gets implemented soon. :)

EDIT: Another thing I'd like to bring up is Far Away Island, which is a location in Pokemon Emerald where you obtain Mew, could we add this to the mix?

The locations change once you migrate the Pokemon to a 4th Gen game. If you migrated a Mew from Far Away Island, it would just show Hoenn as the location met.

  10. I don't think this has been mentioned, but I ran into a bug.

When I have a value set for the EVs in Speed, and then choose Reset Controls, the Speed EVs' value doesn't reset. I was editing my Diamond save when I first ran across this, so I closed the program and started it again, this time not loading a save and not changing anything but the Speed EVs. I then went to Reset Controls and, sure enough, the Speed EVs didn't reset.

  11. I was wondering if the "Reset Fields" option will be added back to the program. I found it useful for when I create multiple Pokemon. It's no big deal if it's not, as this is a great program anyways and I'm gonna continue to use it anyway.

  12. I've been reading over the topic, and I saw that Wii homebrew and hacking were involved. Has anybody tried going to wiiso.com? There are users there who hack and create homebrew apps for the wii. I'm not sure who you'd see, but I'm sure that if you check there, then someone may be able to help. I'm not experienced at all in any of this, so I'm not sure what I could do, but if you do need help that doesn't involve too much expertise or experience, I'd do what I can. I hope this helps.
