  1. Dear god that was awful I tried so many many things... Google was absolutely no help. If anyone else has this issue I hope you find this post.

    1. Change the file extension of the png to bmp

    2. Open it in paint

    3. Edit it as you like using only the color palette

    4. Save it as a bmp with 256 color

    5. Change the file extension of the bmp to png

    6. Voila now kill me.

In regards to making the hidden sprite go away just make the 8bbp image all the first color in the palette this will set the entire image as transparent. Under the image is the inital sprites of the animation so I have no idea why the hidden sprite is there in the first place. Hope this helped someone.

  2. I am trying to edit a file within a narc but I keep getting the error "Png has to be 8bpp indexed!". If I extract one of the existing files I can put it in just fine but if I open it in gimp or paint and make 0 changes and save it, it suddenly is invalid. Please help. I am going crazy this is the last frame I need for my sprite mod.

Also I have tried importing the png using tinke on 8bpps and exporting it, that didn't work.

  3. Okay so I have figured out that the frame is overlayed ontop of the frame animation for some reason. Meaning if I make the hidden frame all background it will just show the normal frame beneath it. Problem is every time I edit one of the PNGs even if I change absolutely nothing and just save it it says must be 8bpp, probably won't work. Google has no idea, has anyone figured this out?

  4. I am trying to edit player back sprites in HG but there is one frame that for some reason isn't included in a-0-0-6-6_5.RGCN. If I only edit this file the startup frame of wild encounters remains as the base trainer sprite but with the new palette. If I use PokeDSPic I can edit it to be the correct sprite however despite using the correct palette the palette is all in the wrong place.

Any ideas how to fix this?

  5. Hello I am editing a few sprites and one such sprite is the pokeathalon statue sprite, it is stored as a .btx0 file with a single frame. It has to be renamed to .btx to open in the editor. This is the same as all the other files and may have nothing to do with the issue. When I attempt to open it in the btx editor it fails and closes the program. It is a minor asset to edit but I'd still like the option to. Any help would be much appreciated.

If anyone wants to poke around with it the statue in HG is in a-0-8-1-233 (female one).
