Pokemon appear as Question Marks in PC SWSH

Hey guys,

recently I tried my hand at hacking an old 2DS to get some pokemon I had either lost or missed and then to transfer them to home and then Sword/Shield.

They seemed fine in Pokemon Home but when I got them into Sword they appeared as Question Marks in my PC.

I was wondering if I had someone stuffed it up or something?

Thanks!

Should have been more clear but I’ve got a picture this time, it wasn’t a question mark like I thought.

For example this Zekrom is fine in every way but it appears as this pokeball symbol in the pc

That's not a question mark. XD

Before I state my theory, I'll like to see the Zekrom file you used here.

I don’t have a picture at the moment but I can tell you what I’ve done.

I just went through and picked what pokemon I want and then set a level.

I’m guessing there’s a bit more to it than that.😅

I'm not asking for a picture. I'm asking for the Zekrom file. Presumably a pk8 file.

So you can’t use PKSM to make legal pokemon? Does it need to be through PKHEX and then put on the save directly?

Before I can address your query, I first need to find out your level of understanding when it comes to these kind of things.

Do you even know what makes a Pokemon "legal"?

Pokémon made from PKSM have a high chance of being illegal especially if you're a beginner (more so if done from scratch). That software is mostly used for quick edits and not creating a new Pokémon from scratch

I suggest you get rid of that hopeless Zekrom and create a new one. Try to use PKHeX and use its encounter database so you have a base Pokémon and just edit it to your liking.

Good luck!

Basically, what a "legal" mon means is that all the data it has matches existing encounters.

I would think your Zekrom is completely illegal.

So yeah, for starters, learn how to dump your save.
Then load that dumped save into PKHeX.
Then grab a Zekrom from the encounter database.
Then export that edited save from PKHex.
Then restore that save into your game.
