Hello world,

I want to translate HGSS for my country (France), i take the script in Pokeguide, my translator translate it, but, when i patch it or create rom, thenewpoketext dispared.

What is the problems, it's my rom ?

Thank's

After you extract the rom, you need to copy a/0/2/7 to msgdata/msg.narc

then you can edit it. after editing it, move it back before rebuilding

Hi man, do you mean with this opening the narc file with some archiver, and insert the 7 file into the narc file?

Whenever I try to patch the text back into the msg.narc I get this error message.

the NEW Poketext

ts and contains a complete rom)

It also happens when using the original .xml file.

What did I do wrong?

I've been away for a while but since i'm back, figured I'd do my own half assed translation probably into spanish instead of english since kazo and others seem to have that well covered but anyways back to the topic.

The "Fix":

1) Run thenewpoketext and follow the instructions to the point of creating the tmp folder and you get the error that says something along the lines of msg.narc not found.

2) As Kazo pointed out, you now have to copy the file "7" from "a/0/2/" to "msgdata/" and RENAME it "msg.narc"

After that you'll be able to create your .xml file and then do whatever you want with it.

In response to the Invalid Token crash, only take a limited amount of text at a time to translate. What I've been doing is using the full script command "getall --.xml" opening it in notepad, then finding the File ID number for the group of text to translate. After finding the number, input "get [iD number] [--..xml]. No crashing but slower progress.

Credit to gr3ger, found in Magnius' translation thread on GBATemp.

pokemonhackster, i have everything don what was in your tutorial, but...

the rom is just 2,030 kb! And he don't work!

This is my .xml (SSTEKST)

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?>

<Poketext version="1.0">

<file id="368" change="true">

<text id="0">

Go, Rattata!\rTackle!\r

</text>

<text id="1">

What?\nThis is a big battle!\x25BDLeave me alone!

</text>

<text id="2">

Pokémon moves can only use up a\ncertain amount of PP.\rWhen the PP of a move runs out, you\nwon’t be able to use it anymore.\rYou can restore the PP of a Pokémon’s\nmoves, by taking it to the Pokémon\x25BDCenter.

</text>

<text id="3">

a

</text>

<text id="4">

I’m not a trainer.\rBut if you look one in the eyes,\nprepare to battle.

</text>

<text id="5">

b

</text>

<text id="6">

c

</text>

<text id="7">

\v0103\x0001\x0000は\nd

</text>

<text id="8">

e

</text>

<text id="9">

f

</text>

<text id="10">

g

</text>

<text id="11">

h

</text>

<text id="12">

i

</text>

<text id="13">

j

</text>

</file>

</Poketext>

And : If I type in thenewpoketext : patch SSTEKST(the name of the .xml above)

The msg.narc is update! So, maby something is rong in this :

After the msg.narc update :

- Copy msg.narc

- Past it in root\a\0\2

- Delete 7, rename msg.narc to 7

- Go to thenewpoketext

- type te code : mkrom SSENG.nds(my new rom, the original is PkmSS.nds)

- than the rom doesn't work!

What was rong?
