Pokemon Ranger Protoype and Azure Flute

Somebody found a prototype of Pokemon Ranger (for Gba not DS that's really interesting) which can interact with the Japanese versions of Pokemon Diamant and Pearl.

I follow the steps and I received not only a Manaphy egg but also the Azure Flute and I dump them here like that researches can be done.

According to him it can be the way to legit have the Azure Flute in Pokemon Diamant and Pearl and ask us to make it avaible for non Japanese version. So let's have some hard work ^^

Mod note: At the end of the day, since these aren't official wonder cards, use at your own risk!

This Manaphy is news to me. You should take out the video link though because it pretty much directly links to a bunch of stuff you aren't allowed to share here.

I question this Manaphy since I can't seem to find that Wondercard within the rom.

That thread has nothing about a Manaphy Egg Wondercard, though. :P

(Also it's easier to just unpack the distro rom to get decchi.bin than to mess around with extracting it with a Hex editor.)

I was discussing this with @Ammako earlier,
and I was saying this method doesn't count as a legit way to obtain it.

Heck, not even under a legal way to obtain it,
simply because it was being test on slot-1, when the functionality is slot-2.

If it was being tested on slot-2 (while hidden away in another game),
and it got leaked or could be glitched-activated when it's hidden in another game, then it'll be considered legal at least.

Also, I posted some images earlier regarding the Azure Flute:

That's news to me too!

With a quick Google Search I found this too - http://www.pokemon.com.gr/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=1051

It seems to be a documentation of the Azure Flute + Manaphy Egg Wondercard location & distribution.

It doesn't seem to be in English though.

I'll give it a quick look
^edit: It only details how to grab Azure Flute.
The comments in the video implies that the Manaphy egg may be a glitch or something different.

^^edit again:
Azure PCD has no games checked,
Manaphy Egg PCD has Pearl checked,
so maybe Pearl instead receives the Manaphy.
The person in the comments also happens to be using Pearl.

Overall edit
Lol, the timing of the video and the translation,
I feel like it was pretty much quoting my horrible translation in the post.

Either way, that Manaphy Wondercard isn't found anywhere within decchi.bin so I'll have to assume it came from elsewhere. The question is, where?

Maybe it was already received from a previous Ranger distribution?

I didn't receive the manaphy (just tested with my own copy on Pearl J)
I always get one glitched PCD together with the Fake Azure-Sea Chart PCD.

That's interesting, I've never gotten that but then again, every time I tested receiving it I already had other Wondercards occupying the other slots so that very well may prevent me from getting that glitched card. I'll try it out on a fresh save.

or maybe when I deleted wondercards on PKhex, it glitched out?

It works on Platinum J btw. (and no glitch wonder card appeared, oddly)

Oh strange. Lol I wonder if it works on Japanese HG/SS :P

I tested, and it does, not that it'll be of any help lol

edit:
The delivery man won't even give it to me.
The rough translation is, I'm very sorry, but this version is not compatible with this gift.

There exists an Action Replay code for Diamond/Pearl that can give the Manaphy egg via the delivery man.

94000130 FCFF0000
B21C4D28 00000000
B0000004 00000000
0000AA3C EDB88320
2000AA68 00000007 <-- The 7 is the thing that gives the Manaphy egg
D2000000 00000000

Changing the 7 to other numbers gives things like the member's card to get Darkrai or whatever the letter was to get Shamin.  Or the thing for Arceus (it's been a while).  This makes me think that the relevant data is already inside the target games.  Granted, it could work differently for the prototype but it's probably not too different.

Yeah I went and tried too, funny enough the delivery man tells me that this version cannot receive this gift.

As for the AR codes, those are a thing however the Wondercards work a bit differently (and so does the Pokémon Ranger Manaphy gift.) Not sure what's the deal with that.

For example (if anyone's interested) this is what PokéGen generates as an AR code that sets the Manaphy Egg .pgt from the event gallery to Slot 1:

The relevant data for the events is all there in-game, the Mystery Gifts pretty much just flip the right stuff that lets you receive the key item, and the in-game script activates the event. My guess is that those short AR codes just do the bare minimum to make the man in green show up at the PokéMart with the item you want, possibly just tell the game "there is a gift of type 7/8/9/A in that slot" but without any other unneeded info (the Egg and the key items are their own mystery gift type and these are hardcoded within the game's code, Pokémon Mystery Gift Editor showcases this relatively well.)

I guess the delivery man errors out on me in SS because Mystery Gift Type 0A is probably invalid in HG/SS lol

Also @theSLAYER, I just finished receiving the Wondercard in a fresh Pearl save file. Only one Wondercard shows up in-game, but when viewed in PKHeX it shows that Wondercard IDs 1 and 2047 have been received, and it also thinks it's an unknown Wondercard type (which considering all the trash data within the Wondercard, is not entirely surprising I suppose.)

PokéGen correctly sees it as an Azure Flute gift, and only reports WCID 1 received. No sign of 2047.

Saving the file in PKHeX completely corrupts the Azure Flute Wondercard in a similar manner to what you've shown; I assume that PokéGen would leave it untouched.

@Ammako thats an interesting breakdown of the AR codes.
It's highly likely these key items already have their own hard coded event beyond activating the flag.

Regarding the second card, glitchy goodness:
Capture.PNG

the card I deleted previously was a Regigigas, before I proceeded,
but it looks.. partially revived?

That doesn't make sense right.

Unless the second glitchy card revives cards,
then perhaps if you received a manaphy egg before this,
it reactivates it?

Doesn't sound like how programming works; sounds more like magic lol

For the record, the video is stating it was a "semi-legit" way, since it was actually made by Nintendo or GameFreak, just not ever officially used. Perhaps worded wrong, but that's what it meant. Of course it's not actually legit.

The video was quoting your translation, which seems to be the most accurate and comprehensible. Google Translate or anything else results in nonsense as you'd expect.

What's wrong with the timing?

Here's what do I get on PkHex in my Japanese Pearl sav and on Pokegen.

I didn't receive it on first try I had to reupload the sav to get the EGB event.

Hahah I meant the timing as in,
Yesterday I responded to a few posts about it,
Today a video shows up about it.

decchi.bin has been out there for, pretty much a long time.

An Arceus caught with the Azure flute can't be tranfered in the bank, I know it 'cause with the cheat codes I've caught it in italian Diamond. Also could be trasfered only Shaymin and Darkrai from italian Platinum 'cause MEMBERS CARD and OAK'S LETTER aren't unlocked in italian Pearl and Diamond. Then I think this Azure flute event couldn't be really legit.

jojo is OP, I'm pretty sure they're the only one who ever claimed to have gotten a Manaphy egg wondercard from it, and since that wondercard isn't in decchi.bin I have to conclude that it is unrelated and came from elsewhere.

Open decchi.bin in hex editor, and the two Wondercards. Copy the first several lines of the Arceus Wondercard and search it in decchi.bin, you find it pretty instantly. Do the same thing with that Manaphy Wondercard and you'll find nothing.

My best guess is that since PKHeX doesn't support this weird Wondercard properly, opening the save in PKHeX reactivated an old Wondercard they had and forgot they had (as far as I'm aware, deleting a Wondercard doesn't remove it entirely, it just unchecks the Is Active flag.)

@HalfshadowI remember being able to transfer it if it was Lv. 100, since  B/W let you get a Lv. 100 Arceus caught with your own OT and apparently GF assumed that all Lv. 100 Arceus were Dream World Arceus. I don't know if they ever ended up changing that.
