I got one of the first 3DS systems to come out, and it does its job good, but it is showing its age and slowing down. For the past couple of months, I have been thinking of buying one with the faster hardware specs. Since I live in the U.S.A., I am limited to using the 3DSXL if I want to stick to a U.S. retailer. If I went and bought a new system from a store in Japan, would I be able to use it with U.S. region games and in English? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
evandixon Posted June 8, 2016 Share Posted June 8, 2016 Only if you install CFW. IIRC, some special edition New 3DS's are not XL, so you may consider one of those. Personally, I recommend just getting the XL. When I picked up my original 3DS after using an N3DSXL for months, my first thought was "Wow, it's so tiny".
