idea Pokemon XD Shadow Pokemon ideas

Recommended Posts

With my hack of pokemon xD having recently been released, I've been getting a lot of responses about which pokemon to include/exclude. There aren't any other xD hacks around to compare with so I'm interested in hearing what others have to say. I made this thread in the hopes that people could share ideas and opinions.

If anyone wants to join in the discussion, then I challenge you to come up with a complete set of pokemon for pokemon xD. You can use the list below from the vanilla game as a template. Feel free to discuss any changes that are assumed to have been implemented for the list to work and explain why you made certain decisions. (for example are you updating the stats and/or typings of any pokemon?)

You could also use someone else's list as a basis but suggest a few minor changes as opposed to a whole list since it can be time consuming. I would really recommend trying a whole list at some point though. Finding a synergy between them is very different from suggesting one or two changes.

Please feel free to comment on each other's decisions in a constructive manner and remember that everything is ultimately a matter of opinion.

Mt. Battle Prizes

Mt. Battle Kyogre V2 Lv. 5

Mt. Battle XG001 Lv. 5

Mt. Battle Groudon V2 Lv. 5

Explanations

Starters - It is quite easy to start with 2 pokemon in xD rather than the one. I kept eevee because it has many evolution options which are offered as part of the story line. I added beldum as well just because I like metagross I guess.

Pokespots - I really wanted the legendary dogs here so it would reduce the amount of legendary stacking at the end. I wanted it to be possible to get tyranitar and dragonite without waiting until the endgame. The rest are just nice pokemon

Duking trades - A trio like the johto starters felt fitting. I wanted to separate them from the kanto and hoenn starters which are all shadow pokemon. 9 starter pokemon as shadows gets dull.

Mt. battle prizes - Robo kyogre, Robo groudon (part steel types with stats inverted to favour defenses) and shadow lugia (not a shadow pokemon but uses the shadow lugia model. Is a regular lugia though). Robo kyogre and groudon appear in the main game and so I thought I'd throw them in somewhere. These pokemon are all kind of silly and pointless. There is no point putting anything meaningful at the top of mt battle since that is probably literally the last place you would go in this game. Nobody wants to play through the whole thing, especially not in a hack game.

Shadow pokemon - My main goals were to add a large type diversity as well as the possible to build around various team archetypes such as sun/rain/stall/offense etc. I also wanted as many popular pokemon as possible to be represented so that most people would get the opportunity to play with their favourite pokemon. Some pokemon are available more than once because I wanted the player to have the opportunity to catch them before they became useless but also wanted threatening pokemon for the endgame. They also allow the player to have strong pokemon without grinding if they don't wish to spend a long time training those pokemon. I feel like the rest of the list offers a lot of diversity so it was okay to cut a small handful of pokemon to this end. It proved unpopular though as people want something fresh and exciting so I am considering changing things up. The levels of the shadow pokemon pretty much determined the level curve for the whole game. I liked the idea of shadow lugia being at level 70 rather than 50. As a result the game starts at a slightly higher level than xD and curves more steeply (with a few level jumps). It also means that you can jump straight into orre colosseum after beating the main story. Lugia and Zangoose were kept in place because they have overworld cutscenes which can't be replaced atm. They're both awesome anyway. I made bonsly playable for the lols.

I also made it so that the player is healed straight after the shadow lugia fight. This means that one can easily go in with 5 pokemon. Catch shadow lugia easily since it's a 5 v 1 and then face greevil with shadow lugia and a full health team. This means that greevil's team can be a little bit tougher since you can easily still have the master ball available too.

I wish me more catch able bug pokemon in this game for example beedril, Butterfree.

I'm adding ninjask in the next update but other than that, the rest of the bug pokemon are too weak to be of any use. To be fair, the current options are scyther, scizor, heracross, pinsir and armaldo which are all really solid pokemon. Anything else would get OHKO'd before it got an attack in xD.

If you want to make bug type viable, why not boost beedrill to his Mega's stat?

With that, he's usable yet not too powerful, and you can make him catchable almost everywhere since he won't be too much weak.

By the way, I really like your hacks. I've been lurking since the day you've posted Mausoleum (which was really fun) and I posted this after much thoughts.

If I make too many drastic changes then it becomes a lot harder to pick up the hack because it's hard to keep track of all the changes. Mega beedrill would be broken in gen III anyway so even if I did, I wouldn't power it up that much xD. There should are plenty of viable bug types without it imo.

Much appreciated! Really cool that you've been following for that long :)

Since i finished the game, i rechecked the full 386 pokemon list and though about few pokemon that could be added to this list.

Slowking/Slowbro, is a good defensive pokemon, maybe having is previous evolution and way to choose how to make him evolve would be a great addition. (There is an AR code that allow some pokemon to evolve with certain item, so there may be a way to include it in the game)

Slacking, Great and strong pokemon, that was already mentionned in the other Topic.

Porygon. It's a quite unique pokemon that feels like it deserve to be shadowed

Nincada, a small bug that evolve into Ninjask... and also sheninja.

Smeargle, A weak pokemon that can be really fun to play around considering the kind of move you can teach it.

Castfom, Since weather is quite important in this gen, it's fun pokemon to have available.

Dusclops: There is a lack of ghost pokemon in this game, so since Gengar is the offensive one, i think Dusclops can be a the defensive one.

As a final Note, all pokemon don't necessarly need to be found in "pairing" like all the starter at the same time, Hitmochan/Hitmonlee, they can be slightly more separated, to add a bit more unpredictability.

I think all 3 regis should be available because the birds and the dogs are catchable too.

Edit: Mew would be awesome too and Poliwrath and Politoed

I've been working on adding some new shadow pokemon into the game. Not too many hopefully. There are now a total of 100 shadow pokemon available (previously 83). Most of the pokemon mentioned have been added. I'm pretty sure Dusclops is already in the game so maybe you missed it? A lot of moves are a badly implemented so smeargle is not going to happen any time soon. Weather ball is also broken for now so castform is pretty irrelevant to (it's stats are too low to be good either way tbh). Porygon was really close but was ultimately outclassed by other normal types. The rest all made it :))

Can confirm that Dusclops isn't available in the game, from the 100% file I only see Banette, Sableye and Gengar.

If there comes a time where the Shadows are shuffled again, I would suggest trying to fit Dusclops in if you can, as it's a really solid support-type Pokemon.

Also one other thing I remembered, I would say change Larvitar in the Rock Poke Spot to something else, due to Tyranitar being a thing later.

My original idea is Diglett, since Arena Trap can actually be used against the AI now that it switches in certain circumstances, though it's really kinda subpar. My other thought was Onix/Steelix, but they're both really situational, like Blissey was.

Maybe even Baltoy, since Claydol is another fairly sturdy Pokemon, though it does have an issue with it's evolution level.

Yeah I noticed later on but forgot to mention it. Duskull was there in the original version but I guess I took it out at some point and forgot that I did. I actually really liked having duskull, especially since there are so few ghost pokemon so I might have actually taken it out as an accident, which would also explain why I don't remember removing it.

These are my thoughts on the inclusion of the pokemon you mentioned:

Dugtrio

Dugtrio was really close to being in the game but got cut because I felt dugtrio is too frail and too weak to be of any use in double battles, especially with it's main move, earthquake, being weakened by spread move mechanics. It won't even get a chance to attack against anything that's faster than it which is a problem since rain and sun teams are very common. It can't take a surf even with spread damage. There are also a lot of priority moves. It doesn't at least have access to a focus sash, only focus bands in XG. It will struggle against shadow pokemon especially since shadow boost makes them even bulkier and the shadow moves will destroy dugtrio.

The opponent only switches out -4 pokemon so the trapping role is still really uncommon.

Steelix

Steelix is outclassed by other bulky steel types and doesn't do anything special or quirky, nor is it especially popular. It's movepool is very underwhelming. It isn't a support pokemon or anything like that. It's moves are geared more towards offense even though it's offsensive stats aren't great and it doesn't have access to heavy slam or gyro ball in XG. It is also extremely weak to both rain and sun teams which are common in XG. I don't think it's totally unusable but I'm not sure I'd take something else out for steelix.

Claydol

Claydol I could consider. TBH I've never been much of a Claydol fan and my personal biases meant it wasn't given much consideration. Thinking about it now, I don't think it's that popular and it has a lot of weaknesses like dark and water (rain teams again) which are very common in XG especially. There are a lot of ground types and far too many psychic types already. I don't think it would see very much usage, and those who tried would probably be disappointed.

If you can suggest some movesets that would make it viable or at least that might tempt players into considering it for their teams then I'll put it in. The moves don't necessarily need to be officially learned moves as long as they make a little sense for a Claydol.

Duskull/Dusclops is definitely going back in. Claydol I'll consider but only if there's something I'm willing to remove for it.

as for larvitar

Larvitar is there so you don't have to wait until the end to get ttar; you can have one before you even reach citadark isle. Tyranitar is very popular and very powerful so larvitar is one of the highest priorities to be available early game like bagon and beldum. The focus then shifts to the ttar at the end. Maybe I'm being stubborn but imo the final boss should definitely have a shadow tyranitar, regardless of which other pokemon may or may not be in the game. If I really, desperately wanted to put something else in then I'd consider removing it but all the important pokemon are already in.

p.s. this took me an hour to write xD

Was pretty much just rattling off the Pokemon that make sense in the desert, heh.

Claydol would pretty much be stuck running screens, due to the game's Double Battle preference, unless you wanted to run like a Calm Mind set without recovery options.

Can't really think of any moves that would really make sense for Claydol.

Ah fair enough and yeah it can only really play a screens role which it can't do too well. Just based on my philosophies for the game I wouldn't take something out or put something in just for the sake of having another pokemon. As much as some people are disappointed by the duplicates (only 2 duplicates now btw) I do feel that the duplicates deserve that place more than anything else would.

This is so cool... I'd love to share a full list with you, but I need time to prepare it. I would change some Pokémon stats, because I like it when no Pokémon is useless, that everything you decide to train will be useful one way or another. I have already done that in Pokémon Black (I changed every Pokémon actually), but there I have much more room than in gen III, especially with abilities. Also the point of view changes, in Pokémon Black I make everything available while here that's not possible without saturating the game and many would come too late as well. So I have to think of a good list!

By the way changing trade evolutions is possible right?

Well, I'll work on a list, it will be fun! I'll post it here when it's ready.

I look forward to seeing the results. I'd love to hear some of the stat changes you would propose too! Yes it's very simple to change the trade evolutions.

Cool! Wanted to ask just one little thing... Is it possible to give Shadow Pokémon to trainers that didn't have them in xD?

Yes it is and the game allows for up to 128 shadow pokemon.

Well, after a week working on the list, I can finally post it here. It's tough making a list, I like so many Pokémon that I end up putting them so the list is very long, 127 Pokémon actually... I was a bit crazy, especially in the last 2 dungeons of the game.

I've given Shadow Pokémon to trainers that didn't have them in the original, but being very careful to give them to mandatory trainers, watching YouTube videos for that. I didn't want any to be skippable, it'd ruin the final Miror B. battle, so that's why.But being the list as long means I have given Shadow Pokémon to almost every mandatory cipher peon in the game.

The general idea, I like the game to begin slowly, with the level curve going up a bit slowly and faster by the end. I apply the same rule with moves. I don't like giving things like Earthquake or Fire Blast by the beginning of the game, I think that's the moment for weaker moves to shine, if they don't appear there, when? On a side note I know this is Pokémon :XD: and it's cool giving good moves when purification comes, so I'd add quite cool coverage options and moves for all of them since the beginning of the game. But I haven't worked on Purification moves as of now, just gave a few ideas.

I used the display you gave with the original :XD: obtanaible Pokémon as a base! It was really well written and sorted. I have also written explanations for every Pokémon I added, and when making that I also put the changes to Pokémon stats when made.

Without further ado, here is the list. I hope it can be made real one day!

Mt. Battle ????? Lv. 5

And here are the explanations:

EEVEE: Not changing anything here... Well, maybe make it shiny for this to be a special Eevee! As for moves, Quick Attack and Bite are decent, but I prefer Headbutt or even Return over Quick Attack... As for Eevevolutions, maybe making all of them learn some cool moves like Hyper Voice by lv 20 and getting cool STAB moves and coverage.

POOCHYENA: I have to keep this guy here because it's the moment to get Poochyena. In my opinion it was one of the coolest Shadow Pokémon early game in the original, with it getting Poison Fang, Bite and Dig early, and I would keep it exactly that way! Adding the Elemental Fangs soon would be cool as well. The Physical/Special split makes this Pokémon much better. I suggest a little improvement to Mightyena, to make it endure the whole game...

HP: 81 Attack: 103 Defense: 82

Sp. Atk: 72 Sp. Def: 68 Speed: 89

SENTRET: It would be cool if it learns Dizzy Punch when purified. Furret would get a good boost to its stats! Something like this:

HP: 85 Attack: 92 Defense: 74

Sp. Atk: 70 Sp. Def: 80 Speed: 104

Furret should learn the elemental punches, some when purifying and others maybe by lv 23, and if possible Coil a bit later. Drain Punch, if implemented, would be nice as well.

MANKEY: The first capture, and a difficult Pokémon to choose as well, I didn't want to choose an Eeveevolution type or one of the 6 brothers types... So, yet another Physical attacker, following my style I guess in this start, I like fast and strong Pokémon for ingame...

BULBASAUR, CYNDAQUIL, MUDKIP: Well, giving starters to the six brothers seems logical, to be a bit more original, I gave them one of each generation, having a strong and fast special attacker, a rounded Pokémon, and a slow but bulky and strong attacker.

PHANPY: Not brown at all for Browsix, but a cool Ground-type. It must learn something like Magnitude, Dig or Bulldoze soon, though, because I trained a Phanpy in :XD: and got near the end of the game with just Take Down. It was very annoying.

ELECTRIKE: Electrike is a Pokémon I have always liked... Fast, strong, quite reliable one... You can also teach it Flamethrower via a TM to improve its coverage. Shock Wave when purified would be good, and leave things like Thunderbolt or (if possible) Discharge for later. Signal Beam is also a good move to have soon. A good Pokémon for those that didn't go for Jolteon!

GULPIN: Not changing this one because I like Gulpin! It's a very fun Pokémon to use and have. Swalot could see an improvement to its stats, something like this:

HP: 112 Attack: 80 Defense: 90

Sp. Atk: 80 Sp. Def: 90 Speed: 60

RALTS: Well, it was time for a Psychic-type, and Ralts was chosen because Gardevoir is good and because of the Fairy-type. (10)

TAILLOW: Not much to add. Swellow could see its Attack stat improved to 90-95, but not a lot because Guts is easy to exploit in Doubles. Maybe also add Fly or even Drill Peck to its level-up moveset to give it a decent physical Flying-type move.

RHYHORN: First Rock-type to appear. I know it evolves late, but it has decent stats for being a NFE Pokémon. It is also a Pokémon that doesn't see much love, so here it is. If the level curve doesn't go way too up its evolving level could be decreased to something like 35.

HOUNDOUR: I know a Houndour appears quite early in :XD: as well, but it's so good early game... This thing had to be in early here as well. Its STAB moves don't disappoint.

CHINCHOU: Cool Pokémon to have early, with 2 good types and abilities. Maybe Lanturn base Special Attack could get a +5 / +10 improvement, but not necessary at all...

SHROOMISH: Keeping the original here because Shroomish has helped so many people thanks to False Swipe and things like Stun Spore to catch Pokémon it should be here early... Breloom's False Swipe hits harder than most Pokémon's.

DELCATTY: Not removing Delcatty from Lovrina because it's just perfect for her, the battle is memorable with the Delcatty way of moving in the battle and the Admin battle theme. But we all know that Delcatty is bad... So it needs an improvement!

HP: 79 Attack: 85 Defense: 82

Sp. Atk: 97 Sp. Def: 89 Speed: 88

Fairy-type suits Delcatty, and Skitty as well.

ILLUMISE: Well, 2 Shadow Pokémon for an intense fight with the first boss in the game! Of course Illumise needs to improve as well... I'd add a new type to it. Fairy or Electric, which one do you like the most? Whatever it is, it should relearn Flash when purified, but an Electric-type Flash that actually has 50-60 base power and good chance to lower Accuracy. Chinchou should get it as well! Its stats could be this way:

HP: 70 Attack: 60 Defense: 80

Sp. Atk: 95 Sp. Def: 95 Speed: 105

DELIBIRD: Miror B... Such a great character... I thought of Delibird to be his first shadow. Of course an improved Delibird:

HP: 70 Attack: 85 Defense: 68

Sp. Atk: 91 Sp. Def: 77 Speed: 94

Hustle makes it actually hit hard with physical attacks! (17)

EKANS: Not many Poison-types as of now, so I thought of adding Ekans, an improved one of course. Lv 21 is just one level below evolving. I would change Arbok's typing to Poison/Dark. Its stats could be:

HP: 73 Attack: 103 Defense: 79

Sp. Atk: 78 Sp. Def: 87 Speed: 90

Bite should be learnt very early of course. I have looked for it and it learns Crunch at lv 22... That's too early if we are giving STAB to it. So maybe lv 30-35 for that! Intimidate is also a great ability in Doubles, so yeah, this thing would be useful thoughout the whole game!

VIGOROTH: I wanted to include this Pokémon somewhere because people like to try cool strategies like using Skill Swap with Slaking to make it a monster.

MAKUHITA: Not much to add honestly, keeping the original one here. Not a bad moment to get it, close to evolution. (21)

GASTLY: Out of the Ghost-type Pokémon, it's the easiest one to train from a low level in my opinion, so here it is. Haunter should evolve into Gengar by level 42.

BAGON: Hadn't added any Dragon-types yet! Bagon has good Attack to be useful during the whole game, and Salamence is awesome. But the player will have to be patient to get it!

METANG: Ok, let's take that guy as a boss and give him 2 Shadow Pokémon! This battle is perhaps the first hard battle in the original game. He already had a Steel-type in Mawile, but we can give him a cool Metang. I hadn't added any Steel-type as of now so here is one!

ONIX: Well, a big intimidating Pokémon for a big guy like this one... Onix's Attack stat is pathetic, so I suggest this:

HP: 65 Attack: 80 Defense: 170

Sp. Atk: 30 Sp. Def: 45 Speed: 80

I think Intimidate is a good ability for both Onix and Steelix... Onix should evolve by lv 35. Steelix alson needs a little improvement, as its Attack is too low. Let's be crazy with it! (25)

HP: 90 Attack: 94 Defense: 255

Sp. Atk: 65 Sp. Def: 76 Speed: 50

SWINUB: The lack of Ice-types was annoying, so here is the classic Swinub.

MAGNEMITE: Magnemite is my favourite Pokémon, the first one I ever saw... So it had to appear before its level was for evolving.

NIDORINO and NIDORINA: Cool Pokémon to have at this state in my opinion, you can evolve them for 2 great Pokémon, people can choose to train the one they like the most.

MEDITITE: With the physical/special split and its ability, this little thing hits really really hard! Getting the elemental Punches via level up by level 30 all of them would be great, as well as a Physical Psychic-type move.

BAYLEEF, COMBUSKEN and WARTORTLE: Another round of shadow starters for Phenac City!

MURKROW: The fact that Murkrow doesn't evolve in this game makes it appear a bit early in the game. But I think its stats could improve a bit! (34)

HP: 71 Attack: 95 Defense: 52

Sp. Atk: 95 Sp. Def: 52 Speed: 105

Murkrow has always been very hard to catch, I'd upgrade its catch rate as well...

DUSKULL: I have been adding many offensive Pokémon, so for people that like playing defensively Duskull is nice, I guess...

CASTFORM: Before this battle I hope the player has battled every Cipher Peon in Phenac to level up his mons, that's why the jump to level 30. Castform is a horrible Pokémon... but it can be made much much better. First I suggest changing its typing to Ghost, and adding Ghost-type to all of its forms. Then, I suggest a stat change:

HP: 80 Attack: 80 Defense: 80

Sp. Atk: 110 Sp. Def: 90 Speed: 100

This way we have an original Ghost-type attacker that can actually take a few hits, unlike the Gastly-line.

TENTACRUEL: This guy looks to be a very cruel person... So Tenta is nice for him. It's quite bulky and it suits a bad guy like this man. I would give it +5 Defense and +10 Special Attack or something like that.

MAGMAR: Not many Fire-types available as of now, and Magmar is quite a cool Pokémon. I suggest making it Fire/Poison! Vital Spirit as an ability is good as it is its Dream World ability.

MAWILE: Thanks to its Fairy-type, Mawile has amazing typing. A little improvement to its stats would be nice:

HP: 75 Attack: 100 Defense: 110

Sp. Atk: 55 Sp. Def: 70 Speed: 80

LUDICOLO: Miror B. needs a shadow Ludicolo. I didn't give it to him in the first battle because I think it was too early for a Ludicolo, but now it's a good moment. (40)

TOGEPI / BONSLY: I had been thinking for a while where to add this little thing... It's the only gen IV playable Pokémon after all, so it has to be somewhere... But it's too weak for a cipher guy at this point of the game, and getting it too early wouldn't seem right... Then I remembered this guy. Elekid is not the best Pokémon for this part, and you get it with great moves but quite underleveled in the original game. So for someone wanting Bonsly, it is suitable here! If a more competitive Sudowoodo is wanted, Grass-type could be added to it, I know it hates water because it's not a plant, but STAB Wood Hammer sounds appealing. Sudowoodo's stats:

HP: 85 Attack: 110 Defense: 135

Sp. Atk: 65 Sp. Def: 85 Speed: 70

ZANGOOSE: Well, this guy already had it in an event so he has to keep it. It's a quite cool Poké anyways. Maybe it could be made Normal/Fighting. Hyper Cutter seems like a good ability for Doubles due to it blocking Intimidate, or even Guts to give it something similar to Toxic Boost. It can be a little bit improved:

HP: 88 Attack: 125 Defense: 72

Sp. Atk: 60 Sp. Def: 70 Speed: 95

SCYTHER: With Scyther we give this guy 2 Pokémon that cut really well. To evolve into Scizor, I don't know, maybe Moon Stone, or maybe just lv. 44 more or less. Scyther is fast and strong, a very cool Pokémon. (43)

DUNSPARCE: I feel like I am not adding many Gen II mons so here is Dunsparce. I suggest changing its type to Normal/Ground. Also its stats need some improvement:

HP: 111 Attack: 90 Defense: 82

Sp. Atk: 75 Sp. Def: 74 Speed: 78

VULPIX: I didn't want to add Drought too early in the game, but this seems like the right place. Besides, that trainer originally had it, so it's suitable. I don't know if it is possible, but giving it, or at least giving Ninetales by level 45 the move Blue Flare would be very cool!

WEEPINBELL: Honestly just a good Chlorophyll Pokémon, quite powerful especially after evolving.

POLIWHIRL: Give it Drizzle... If the full Vulpix line has Drought, why not Drizzle for at least Poliwhirl? To evolve into Politoed, I don't know, maybe lv 38 or something... Adding this Pokémon here gives the player the ability to play with Sun and Rain in this part of the game quite easily.

GOLDUCK: A cool Pokémon and Swift Swimmer to complement Poliwhirl...

VOLBEAT: I add Volbeat because it feels odd to me to add Illumise and not Volbeat. Again, Bug/Electric type but more focused on physical attacks, with these base stats:

HP: 70 Attack: 95 Defense: 95

Sp. Atk: 60 Sp. Def: 70 Speed: 105

SEVIPER: Same case as Volbeat... Adding Zangoose but not Seviper seems bad to me. I am also changing its stats so that it has the same BST as Zangoose:

HP: 73 Attack: 110 Defense: 65

Sp. Atk: 110 Sp. Def: 72 Speed: 80

Unlike Arbok, however, Seviper can go mixed; it has worse Speed and abilities so it's not the same. (50)

CLAYDOL: Claydol is a cool all-around defensive Pokémon, so it is here for you to snag! Levitate is good to have in Doubles, and, if implemented, it's also immune to Discharge, so it's a good utility Pokémon. I would update its stats a bit, with +15 HP and +10 Special Attack.

HITMONTOP: Hitmontop has always a Pokémon with great utility in Doubles, thanks to Intimidate and its moves like Fake Out, so it had to appear.

SEALEO: I hadn't added many Ice-types as of late, so here is one! Not so annoying to train like Spheal in the original game; here it's been made available at a quite high level.

SHARPEDO: I still hadn't found the place for this very cool guy, so it's here. Speed Boost would be cool to have. Sharpedo is quite threatening but frail. I'd improve it just a bit, with +10 Special Attack.

NINJASK: One of the few viable Bug-types and one of the fastest Pokémon ever created. Another Speed Boost for this guy; Ninjask is also one of the best Baton Passers there are, so for people wanting to abuse that here it is. I'd boost its Attack stat a little bit, maybe +10/15.

PORYGON2: This guy likes calculating so I gave him a Porygon2! Trace is a cool ability as it makes some battles different. I suggest making the Porygon line Normal/Electric! Not much more honestly, P2 is good in gen III.

SHEDINJA: I like the idea of a Shadow Shedinja because you'll have to be very careful. You'll also have to catch it at full health, so it's annoying. It needs a stat boost, by the way, something ike base 110 Attack and Special Attack, and 100 Speed, so that it can actually do decent damage!

GRANBULL: I hadn't added many Fairy-types, so here is Granbull, a Pokémon which hits hard and has Intimidate. I'd increase its Speed a bit, it's a bull, it should be quicker, at least to base 75-80.

DODRIO: For people that don't like the initial Taillow, here is one of the best, if not the best, Normal/Flying Pokémon in this game! So, it had to be in.

FORRETRESS: I have to keep giving players some defensive Pokémon, so here is Forretress, one of the bulkiest bugs out there. With just one weakness, it can be tough to take down.

ALTARIA: I wanted to add as many dragons as possible so here is Altaria available as well! I'd give it +10 Special Attack and Speed, and make it Dragon/Fairy like Mega Altaria so that it is actually something.

ELECTABUZZ: Well I gave Smarton in the S.S Libra Magmar and Mawile, so here after coming back they gave him two more shadows, Electabuzz and Sableye this time is suitable. I changed Magmar's type, so I'll change Electabuzz's too, to Electric/Fighting.

SABLEYE: The Pokémon with no weaknesses... until Fairy-types became a thing. Anyways, for me adding Mawile without Sableye feels empty, so here it is! It needs a good stat boost:

HP: 70 Attack: 100 Defense: 85

Sp. Atk: 80 Sp. Def: 75 Speed: 80

That way it has at least the same BST as Mawile. (62)

MACHAMP: A very strong Shadow Pokémon for this boss! Machamp has great attack so its Shadow moves are gonna hurt!

AERODACTYL: Aerodactyl adds Speed to Gorigan's squad, making it better rounded. It also has good Attack, I don't know, it's just suitable.

GRUMPIG: The first trainer with 3 Shadow Pokémon! Grumpig may seem odd, but it already had a Hypno originally, and Grumpig is quite fat and bulky. Even more if we upgrade its stats:

HP: 104 Attack: 45 Defense: 70

Sp. Atk: 106 Sp. Def: 115 Speed: 90

Nothing to laugh about! This thing is now very threatening. (66)

CRAWDAUNT: Crawdaunt, a Pokémon that kept on improving as generations passed. With Physical/Special split, we give him the chance to shine in a Gen III game.

PINSIR: It's a Pokémon I have always liked, it had to appear somewhere as it's one of the coolest Bug-types there are!

SHIFTRY: Ludicolo had already been added with Miror B., so Shiftry naturally had to be somewhere! It gives players another strong Chlorophyll attacker.

MILTANK: The cow, Whitney's Pokémon that caused nightmares to so many people... It had to be catchable somewhere, so here it is! I'd improve it a bit, as it's lacking a bit of power, so +10 Attack and +5 Special Defense sounds reasonable.

WAILORD: Wailord image in :XD: is so huge! So a shadow Wailord looks very good. I'm changing Wailord's stats:

HP: 170 Attack: 100 Defense: 65

Sp. Atk: 100 Sp. Def: 65 Speed: 60

STARMIE: Starmie is one of the most consistent Pokémon there has been, been always a top threat every Generation, so here it is, for you to get it!

SNEASEL: An Ice-type I had actually forgotten about! The fact that Weavile exists doesn't mean by any means that Sneasel is bad, specially with Physical/Special split. I'd give it a +15 boost for his Attack stat; not as strong as Weavile, but much better.

DUGTRIO: Many people like Dugtrio so here it is, a very fast Ground-type with Arena Trap for anything trying to run away!

MILOTIC: A very beautiful and cool Pokémon for Lovrina here. Milotic is a Pokémon many people like...

CLEFABLE: Who would have said Clefable would be the king of the actual OverUsed metagame in Smogon? Just +10 Special Attack and a Fairy-type and it rises to stardom! Ingame I think it's not as effective, but good without doubt.

JIRACHI: The first legendary Pokémon I add, Jirachi is very cute and suits Lovrina I guess... It has very good typing and ability, and it can play many roles in a team. (77)

URSARING: Teddiursa was the first shadow in the original game, so I wanted Ursaring to be in somewhere. You get it very late here, but it's still a very good Pokémon that hits really hard.

DRAGONAIR: You already have Bagon, and now it's time to get Dragonair. It's a very cool Pokémon and getting it here means it's not far from evolution.

AMPHAROS: Not many Electric-types as of late so here is Ampharos. A bulky Electric that actually hits hard, it doesn't disappoint.

BANETTE: The lack of Ghost-types to add makes me add Banette here. It can hit hard, but it lacks a good physical Ghost-move. Giving it Prankster would be cool, to make it similar to its Mega Evolution. (81)

ARCANINE: Not much too add, really, a Pokémon many people like, including me, this list had to include it somewhere.

VILEPLUME: A Chlorophyll attacker for this Sun team... Vileplume could improve a bit. It already received a nice boost in XY with +10 Special Attack... I'd give it +10 HP and +10 Speed, so that it can actually outspeed something in the sun.

AZUMARILL: With its added Fairy-type, and Huge Power, Azumarill, while cute, is one of the most theatening Pokémon in the game, so that's why it was included in this list.

RAPIDASH: Another Fire-type for this magma zone, with Rapidash so late in the game you don't have to train a Ponyta to a huge level!

CHARIZARD, SCEPTILE, FERALIGATR: The last round of starters! Making all the starters shadow may seem repetitive or boring, so I mixed the regions so that it is more fun and unpredictable. (88)

RAICHU: Another Fan-favourite. I would improve it a bit, as its power especially for this part of the game is a bit underwhelming, so maybe +20 Special Attack, +20 Attack would make it more respectable.

HITMONLEE and HITMONCHAN: These guys may seem redundant, but they are cool and that's why they are added to the list. We already included Hitmontop early on, so here are the other 2!

SLOWBRO and SLOWKING: I don't know, it seemed reasonable to give this guy these two, so that they have 2 pairs of Shadow Pokémon that complement well. They are also quite good Pokémon, very bulky and they can hit hard. (93)

JYNX: Due to its unique type combination, power and speed, Jynx was necessary in this list.

TAUROS: Another Pokémon from Greevil's original team. It has a good ability and great power and speed.

ARMALDO and CRADILY: It was sad to me that I had only added Aerodactyl as a fossil Pokémon. I have already added many Water-types, so that's why I went with gen III fossils. Armaldo should get Swift Swim, so that it is an option for those that are building a rain team.

HERACROSS: One of the best Bug-types there are. It has a great offensive typing and many people like it, so it is in this list!

KANGASKHAN: This Pokémon moves so oddly in :XD:. Anyways, it's a good Normal-type and a very liked Pokémon, so here it is... It may need a little improvement to its Attack, maybe +10.

LAPRAS: Well, the list is getting close to ending! There are some Pokémon that have to appear somewhere and hadn't appeared yet! Here is Lapras, a necesary one. (100)

SKARMORY: One of the best physical walls in the game! Not much more to add, honestly...

MAROWAK: This seems like an odd choice, but I like Marowak and I hadn't found a place for it yet. With Thick Club, its Earthquakes hit really hard. And it also has Lightningrod so it's a very good and underrated threat in Doubles. I'd give it +10 Attack and +15 HP.

WEEZING: I hadn't added many Poison-types as of late, so here is one for a Cipher Admin!! Let's improve it a bit so that it suits one of the final bosses!

HP: 80 Attack: 90 Defense: 130

Sp. Atk: 105 Sp. Def: 75 Speed: 65

SUICUNE: Final bosses now need legendary Pokémon. The reason I didn't give one this to Lovrina is because I feel unfair that a legendary dog appears much earlier than the other 2. Maybe these legends, at least the dogs and Regis, should have their catch rate upgraded to 15.

CELEBI: Lovrina had Jirachi, so it's normal to keep giving these cipher admins these 600 BST Legendaries. (105)

KYOGRE: Now this is very very serious stuff! I'll give to the blue guy Kyogre and to the the red guy Groudon... So this final too are going to be a nightmare for the player.

LATIOS: I'll follow the same tactic that I used with Kyogre and Groudon, Latios for the blue man and Latias for the Red.

KINGDRA: If I haven't added Kingdra before, it's because I was waiting for this very battle for it to appear! I'll improve it a bit, with +5 Special Attack and +5 Attack.

ENTEI: Gorigan has the second legendary dog... Not much to add!

SNORLAX: Maybe a bit too late, but Snorlax is one of the best Pokémon in Gen III and also one that many people love so it had to be here.

REGISTEEL: Perhaps the best Regi, so that's why it's given to a Cipher Admin.

MEW: The last one of the 600 BST Pokémon, one I like a lot.

REGIROCK and REGICE: Not amazing legendaries, but they make the last Cipher Peon with Shadow Pokémon much harder to deal with!

ABSOL: The disaster Pokémon... Disaster that comes upon Cipher! Absol is cool and I had forgotten about it so here it is. I would give it +15 Speed. (115)

GROUDON and LATIAS: Same reasoning as with Latios and Kyogre, but now because of red and sun...

EXEGGUTOR: A good Chlorophyll attacker, with very good Special Attack. The original Greevil had it so that leaves everything clear!

MEWTWO: As the last important battle before Greevil, I wanted this guy to be a bit stronger than his brother. Also, in generation III Rain is better than Sun in my opinion, so here is something to make up for the difference!

LUGIA: It cannot be removed, it's the mascot of the game!

GYARADOS: Now that's theatening! Gyarados has always been one of the best Pokémon for ingame, a shadow Gyarados sounds and looks so cool I couldn't leave the opportunity pass.

TYRANITAR: C'mon it's the final boss! I cannot imagine Greevil without an amazing shadow Tyranitar.

ALAKAZAM: Just a great Pokémon that gives Greevil a lot of power!

RAYQUAZA: Greevil's 2 sons had Kyogre and Groudon so Rayquaza completes the circle.

HO-OH: The game mascot is Lugia so it just makes sense to have a Shadow Ho-Oh doesn't it?

RAIKOU: The fastest Legendary Dog, and a third legendary Pokémon for Greevil. Not as strong as the other 2 but quite threatening.

DEOXYS: The last Pokémon in Hoenn Pokédex, and the last Shadow you'll catch! (127)

WILD POKÉMON:

TRAPINCH: Many people like Flygon, it's a very good Pokémon. I like it a lot, so I'm giving it a huge stat boost:

HP: 85 Attack: 111 Defense: 85

Sp. Atk: 104 Sp. Def: 85 Speed: 115

Fast and very strong from both sides! It should get Dragon Dance, and Quiver Dance if possible.

CHANSEY: Chansey is very weak but it can take a lot of special hits. Ingame it's not the best Pokémon to train, but it had to appear somewhere. And I make it appear here so that you can fight many of them and get Lucky Eggs!

MOLTRES, ZAPDOS, AND ARTICUNO: I didn't want to add too many Legendaries by the end of the game, so I made these 3 available here. To make them annoying to catch by the point you get access to the Pokespots, I made them very rare and level 5, so that being in red HP means its HP porcentage is still somewhat high and therefore they are harder to catch, especially with low level Poké Balls. Something similar happened with Regigigas in Platinum, it was very very hard to catch due to that.

SKIPLOOM: I know this Pokémon is bad and maybe it shouldn't be in the list... but here it is for a reason! In the original :XD:, I caught many Hoppip because 4 Hoppip made a perfect circle in the Purification Chamber, so here I want people to be able to do that as well, with Skiploom this time.

EEVEE: Well, your starter. This way you can get as many Eevees as you want anc get every Eeveevolution. This implies changing the method they evolve into Espeon and Umbreon in :XD:, though. Sun stone and Moon Stone seems good to me.

GOLBAT and LAIRON: Classic cave Pokémon... Crobat has always been a great Pokémon for ingame!

DUKING TRADES:

MR. MIME: A cool Psychic/Fairy type Pokémon that is fast and hits heavily. I am going to improve it:

HP: 70 Attack: 45 Defense: 70

Sp. Atk: 115 Sp. Def: 120 Speed: 95

SHUCKLE: A very defensive Pokémon! I'd improve its HP a bit so that it can make better use of that amazing base Defense. Also give it at least base 55 Attack. Here is a crazy stat spread for it!

HP: 57 Attack: 55 Defense: 254

Sp. Atk: 55 Sp. Def: 254 Speed: 5

LARVITAR: I know there is a Shadow Tyranitar by the end, but people like training these guys from the beginning sometimes, so here is Larvitar for you!

MT. BATTLE PRIZES:

?????: I am open to suggestions here because I don't know what to add... maybe Rattata and Pidgey? Haha. Other possibilities is adding duplicate legendaries with their Mega Evolution stats..

Well, this was long. Now I can play your game! I left it after purifying the 6 brothers Shadows... Time to play again! By the way I am Mochorro in the other forum :XD:.

Well, after a week working on the list, I can finally post it here. It's tough making a list, I like so many Pokémon that I end up putting them so the list is very long, 127 Pokémon actually... I was a bit crazy, especially in the last 2 dungeons of the game.

Well, this was long. Now I can play your game! I left it after purifying the 6 brothers Shadows... Time to play again! By the way I am Mochorro in the other forum :XD:.

This was a lot of fun to read through. It's clear you put a lot of time into it! We actually made a lot of similar decisions with things like pokespots and bonsly. It's interesting that you put both larvitar and tyranitar in. I had them both at the same points in the game in previous versions for the exact same reasons you did but it was probably the most complained about thing by players so I changed it in the end.

The huge number of shadow pokemon on citadark isle is pretty troublesome though. I'm actually aiming to reduce the number in the next update of XG. Also I feel like a lot of the pokemon in the early game are quite underwhelming, especially a few of the admins' shadow pokemon. A lot of really popular pokemon are left until citadark by which point it's often too late to use them and with XG's really poor postgame they don't get much screen time. On the bright side it does mean that there's more of an incentive to try out new things which is fun too!

A lot of really cool ideas! I hope you enjoy XG :)

Your steelix stats look really broken btw :XD:!

Well, thanks for reading such a long post! Yes... Citedark has a huge number of shadows, and it takes time to purify them, so it is hard to use them. But well, this is Pokémon :XD:, the way it is designed means only a few Pokémon are available early on, I like it, for having almost everything available early it is better to play a GBA hack with tall grass, caves and Wild Pokémon everywhere. But the philosophy of :XD: is different. Catching strong shadow Pokémon is cool and you can always make Mt. Battle quite challenging for those that want to use them (by the way in your game I went to Mt. Battle to purify the brothers shadows and when I saw lv 25 I immediately got out of there!) I have beaten :XD: probably 5 or 6 times and I never had a problem building a team I liked. Here is the same! In your game I only know of 12 Pokémon and I am already thinking about playing it again after beating it to do it with a different team! (If it is an updated version even better! xP). I think Eevee as a starter helps to do this as well.

I think my list is a bit too long, I tried to cover almost everything and I ended up making trainer after trainer have shadows... Curious I took similar decisions because I didn't open your list, I didn't want to have spoilers for my gameplay of XG!

Well, that's it! They say your tutorials are amazing, so who knows, maybe this list with its broken Steelix (poor guy! Even with 255 base defense, it cannot take Flamethrowers or Hydro Pumps!) can be something else other than a bunch of text and ideas!

Yeah, I could tell from the way you wrote your explanations that you haven't seen my list and you mentioned you hadn't gone very far in the game so it's really cool to see we had similar ideas in places. I hope there will be hack tools soon to make it easy for everyone to do. I'd be sure to play yours if it is ever produced :)
