Are the codes really getting Generated?

I'm testing the PokeGen's Mystery Gift capabilities because I'm not too familiar with it.

So far I've been able to load a Pokemon pgt file and add the Pokemon to the Tabs to generate the code. My concern is in terms of the actual Wonder Cards and Item Gifts or PokeWalker Courses. When I generated the codes for the Pokemon gift, I had to click on the check mark for Selected Pokemon (1). Later on I decided to add the Wonder Card file and the Item Gift file to the list on the left of the Mystery Gifts window.

So now there's two items on the list. I selected the Item first. Exited out of the Mystery Gifts window and went to Code Generator. This time I hit the check mark for Mystery Gifts and then clicked to generate the codes.

However, most of the coding is all 0's. Is this fine? I mean, I think it's just for the Card or the Item so there's probably not that much info, hence all the scary 0's. But I'd like to check with someone who knows a little more about this.

Also, since I have more than one file open under the Mystery gifts window, does that mean that when I generate Mystery gift codes I'm generating codes for all the files I opened? Or is it just the one I have selected? Or what am I generating codes for??? @~@

I appreciate your help.

You should not be doing this. The "To tabs" button was merely a shortcut for me to not have to add more display code for generation 4 data in the Mystery Gift dialog. It's not intended for generating codes or putting the Pokemon in your save file via that means, and will do so incorrectly.

You don't have more than one file opened. The right side is the only open file. The left represents the data in your save file. I don't know why nobody understands this. What ELSE would it be? This is NO different from slots representing Pokemon in your save file.

Items really have no data in the wondercard. The pkm data is the vast majority of the card, and since items aren't PKMs it's pretty barren.

Whoa... I think that link is a bit too complex for me to understand.

Anyways, what I really want to know is if the code for them Gift Item/Card/PokeWalker Course is actually being generated and the scary amount of 0's I see in the code are actually meant to be there.

Okay, I just tried to generate a code for an Event Pokemon (Celebi) without using the To tabs button. Instead after I opened the pgt file and clicked on the left arrow button, I went directly to the Code Generator , checked the Mystery Gifts option and then clicked on the Generate button and got he following:

I don't think there's an easy way for most people to know what they should or shouldn't do with PokeGen, Codr. I mean, can you link me to a PokeGen guide that will tell me how to use it for both Gen IV and V Mystery Gifts? Without a guide like this I'm not too sure what to do, y'know? All I'm left with is clicking buttons here and there and see what they do and casually google for specific questions that most of the time I've found no answers to.

You're not even looking at what you've done. Tell me what that code represents, because PokeGen tells you.

Effort, thought, logic, reasoning. Use them. I asked what the Mystery Gift slots could possibly represent if not the data in the save file and got no answer. That leaves me to conclude you knew what it was for.

When I hover over the Code List provided in the Code Generator window it tells me that that list is a way to preview the codes prior to copying them. I figure that must be the only code it's going to give me... or is it. I decided to just go ahead and Export the code and then open the xml file in MS Word. I saw right away that there were plenty of other codes besides the one I posted here. I went back to the Code Generator window to take a better look at it. I clicked on the drop down menu above the Code List and saw a few other options. I had looked at this before but didn't give it much thought. I clicked on one of the options, Wonder Card 1, and the code on the Code List changed. Ok, I see, it only shows the code for the options you pick from that drop down menu. But you really can't expect me to just know that right away. I have to come to the forums and seek help. That's what the forums are for. Anyways, I still don't know which is the right code I'm looking for from that menu.

What the Mystery Gift slots are for? I'm not sure.

You keep mentioning a save file. I don't know if it matter or not but, I'm just exporting codes to an ActionReplay. I don't have a save file on my computer that I'm trying to edit.

I can expect you to spend a few seconds of your time exploring in order to not waste mine or someone else's with something trivial.

I still don't know which is the right code I'm looking for from that menu.

I don't even know what to say. Tell me, what possibilities are there for what the numbers in the listbox could possibly represent?

What the Mystery Gift slots are for? I'm not sure.

You know, I could see this being valid if you're someone that plays the games as little as I do, but is that really the case here? The Mystery Gifts menu will reveal magical things to you, since your reasoning apparently can't. (Note: the quote before this one is DIRECTLY related!)

Your game does, however, have a save file that you're trying to edit. The same still applies.

lol, wow... really? Do you always give this attitude to people on the forums?

Just so you know, I was considering donating $30 to PokeGen if I were to ever figure out this whole Mystery Gift thing, but you sir, just changed my mind.

I give up.

See ya.

Take a step away from your own little world for a second and consider the number of people that're dealt with here on a regular basis. Look at the number of developers of this program. Look at how many are like you and can't figure out something extremely simple for anyone who has any knowledge of the games. Clearly I should be more respectful when so many simply think "Oh, hey, I can go have someone else spend their time to help me instead of doing anything for myself!". Have you even put any thought into how much this program does for you ALREADY? And that isn't ENOUGH? This disgusts me beyond words.

Of course you were. It doesn't make me think "oh damn" even in the event you were serious. I'd rather get nothing and not help someone who won't put in effort to help themselves or genuinely lack the intelligence to make simple connections.

Someone else may be willing to spoon feed you, but I won't. I've given you more than enough information to answer all of your questions.

Edit: Oh, wait. Logic and PokeGen's UI already gave you more than enough information to answer your questions.
