1. So, I hacked the pokewalker.... I dumped RAM when I was on the transfer screen, and looked through it with a GameBoy tile editor. I found something interesting... The graphics for the Pokewalker are stored on HG/SS This also includes a DECOMPRESSED sprite of Spinda (because of the way the game handles his spots). So, this led me to conclude, the game transfers the Pokemon sprites when it connects, (and probably the sprites for that route youre on) I'd have to assume that if you transfer your pokemon back. The only time it transfers the menu Icons and misc sprites is the first time you sync it, or after you erase it, then sync again. I did this by hacking the sprites with AR, I made a code that will copy data from a hacked gba save file to the RAM.
2. PokeGen is now maintained by Mat. Current version: 3.1.13 <-- THIS IS A LINK, SINCE PEOPLE DON'T GET IT Be sure to always keep backups of your save files prior to editing. I'm not perfect, mistakes can exist in the program still. This program can be used for Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Heart Gold, Soul Silver, Black, White, Black 2, and White 2 for the following tasks: Generating Action Replay codes to create Pokemon, modify the Pokedex, and add Mystery Gift data, including exporting to an XML file that can be dragged to the Action Replay code manager Loading and saving of save files. Pokemon data and Pokedex data can be fully modified. Loading and saving of party and PC .pkm files (136, 220, and 236 byte, encrypted and unencrypted) Adding Wonder Cards to save files Conversion of Action Replay codes into Pokemon information (This is limited.) Finding a PID to match IVs, nature, gender, ability, shininess, and hidden power type/power - with variable IVs Recalculating save file checksums Editing items Editing C-Gear background images Most of what you need to know to use the program is self-explanatory. However, there are now tooltips explaining just about everything in it. There are some things that aren't quite covered though: Windows XP or newer is required. (However, it does run without issues on "emulated" Windows programs for Mac OS and Linux.) (This is only applicable to generation 4 games, and maybe not even HG/SS.) Using codes for party Pokemon can sometimes cause bad eggs upon activating the code. You can just activate it again and it should fix the problem. (You can check the summary after activating each time to see if it's fixed, or just close the party display and re-open it.) I don't think there's any way around this. As far as I know, this has no negative effect on the game when you save, as long as you don't save it with a bad egg. (I'm not even sure if saving with a bad egg would be harmful, but there's no reason to do so.) Pokemon can be dragged around amongst party/box slots. .pkm files can be dragged into and from party/box slots. You can associate compatible files (save files, .pkm files, etc) with PokeGen to be able to easily load them from Explorer windows. Holding alt and clicking a Pokemon icon will display that Pokemon's information instead of requiring you to right click and "View data". Holding shift + alt and clicking a Pokemon icon will set the slot's data with the tab's data. Obviously this is equivalent to right clicking and selecting "Set". If you don't want to receive updates to certain languages, delete the corresponding language file. If you can't figure out how to do something, read the tooltips. For those that don't know, tooltips are an informative message that gets displayed when you stop your mouse pointer over a control (editbox, dropdown box, button, etc) for a short period of time. There's also the questions and answers thread that's being updated occasionally. Note the date on posts in this thread if you're reading through it. There were many changes to the program since its initial release, including a rename, removal of generation 3 support, and other major redesigns. Also, this thread used to be the only way to post feedback/bugs for the program, prior to a forum section being made. That's why it has tons of posts when it's a locked thread.
3. The legend states that Ho-oh revived three Pokemon that lived in its tower when it was burned. The three Pokemon were also given the forms of the three beasts, but they were never always like that (seriously. Suicune could have quenched the flames and Entei couldn't have been burnt). I'm guessing Raikou was an Ampharos, Suicune maybe a Slowking and Entei maybe being an Arcanine (lets say he was crushed by the building then). They could also have been a Jolteon, Vaporeon and Flareon though. But Eevee's not even catchable in the wild. I bet the Mansion owner guy just buys a bunch of them and releases them in his garden...
4. Hey, I am trying to make a mod that recolors the sprites of shiny pokemon that have kind of shitty shinies (specifically Dragonite, but other shinies too). I'm not trying to make regular pokemon shiny (plenty of AR codes for that), I'm just trying to recolor the sprites of existing shinies so that they look better. I have already recolored the sprites. However, I keep running across issues. First I'll pull up the picture of the pokemon I want to recolor, like so: Then, I'll pull up the file that makes it shiny: I open up the file and add my edited sprites for the shiny (which I did index to make it work, btw): I'll write it to the narc and go back to the regular sprite: Then I go back to where the edited shiny sprite should be, and I get this: Fucking this I think it's something about altering the coloring rather than the sprites themselves, because when I look at Mewtwo: Then go back to where Dragonite was, I get this: It's Mewtwo with Dragonite's colors. It also happens for the failed recoloring I wrote to the narc: So, my question is: HOW THE FUCK DO I EDIT THIS SHIT SO I GET A PINK SHINY DRAGONITE WITHOUT THE COLORS FUCKING UP ON ME??? HALP

6. Hi guys, this is my first post here as I desperately need help. About last summer I started replaying Pokemon heart gold and platinum (Legit copies which i got sealed in Game) on my 3ds which I had not used since 2013 when I had my DS lite. I sunk 70 hours into heart gold and one day after having played daily; I started up the game and everything loaded up to the main screen where you can load your save etc. and when I loaded my save the screen blanked and the audio went to a very quiet static. After the same thing happened again when i loaded my copy of Pokemon platinum I put both games in my DS which has a broken up button and they worked fine. Recently i tried this again as i am contemplating getting a 2DS simply to play pokemon and i decided to ask you guys. I have updated my 3ds firmware and all games were brought in the same country as the 3ds. Any ideas? (i have 800 hours on platinum and really want to continue)

8. Hey guys, anyone used filb's generator to look at how egg's are generated? I don't have one to test for legality, but it would still be interesting to see how its generated.
9. These values also may be used to modify your Multiplayer Avatar for the Union Room and Wi-Fi. The sprite change will only occur between two Copies of either Heart Gold or Soul Silver. Details on this can be found in the Third Spoiler. Progress: As I did with Pokemon Platinum, I've taken the liberty of deriving a list of values to be used to modify your character sprite to that of another sprite in the game. The following code was created by the hackers on GBAtemp, whom I thank alot for their hard work. The code will work like this: Due to the lack of a calculator in the game, the alteration of the code is neccessary to change you character. Also note using multiple character altering codes at the same time has a high potential of crashing your game, so please refrain from attempting it. Here is the code: 62110DC0 00000000 B2110DC0 00000000 10025D90 00000XXX D2000000 00000000 First start by finding the desired value that you want. All you have to do is replace the Red X's with any of the following values and presto. You have yourself the desired sprite. It should be known, however, that although the walking animations for each sprites work perfectly fine, the only sprites capable of having a working running animations are the Hero Sprites for Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Heart Gold, and Soul Silver. Values 000~00F: Values 100~1FF: Values 200~244***: I will update this thread as I finish more lists. Also, here are some working codes that some of you may enjoy: Play as Red: Play As Platinum Male: Play As Platinum Female: Play As Team Rocket Hero (Male): Play As Team Rocket Hero (Female): Personal Favorite Values: Pics of Modified Sprites: Sprite Set #1: Sprites #2: Sprites #3:
10. I just finished the Elite Four using Desmume. After the hall of fame induction, the game saved and then proceeded through the credits. Once the credits ended, the screen went black. I figured I would end up in New Bark Town eventually, but I realized the game froze. I tried relaunching the rom and it wouldn't even start up. Is there a fix to get the game started up again without losing my save?
11. Download the patch: HeartGold - SoulSilver For those of you who just want to use this and don't give a crap about how it works, follow these simple steps: If you don't have them already, you'll need CrystalTile2 and Tsukuyomi UPS (or any UPS patching tool). I've tailored this guide/patch to work with any HG/SS ROM, no matter how much anti-anti-piracy, translation, etc. crap you've applied. Open your HG/SS ROM with CrystalTile2 (you can ignore the small window that pops up when you first open the program) and go to Tools>NDS File System. A new window will pop up with a long list of files. Scroll down until you see the one labeled "overlay9_0074", right click it, and select export. Save the file anywhere you like. Open Tsukuyomi UPS and select "apply patch to an existing file". Use the file you exported as the target file and apply the patch that corresponds to your game. Switch back to CrystalTile and right click the same file as last time, then select import and browse to your patched "overlay9_0074.bin". You're done! Save the ROM and you're ready to start migrating from your English GBA games. Now for details. I'd done this before on D/P/Pt but HG/SS's overlay files are compressed, so it wasn't as simple as the find and replace it had been in D/P/Pt. Initially this had me stumped because although I knew the files were compressed (and there's documentation around on how they're compressed), I am not much of a programmer and didn't have any tool to help me decompress the files. Yesterday though I realized that the function was included in CrystalTile2, a program that has been sitting on my desktop for some months but never got fully explored. Fail. Anyway, just right click a compressed overlay in CrystalTile's NDS filesystem explorer and you'll have the option of decompressing and saving it or opening a decompressed file and compressing it to that location. The process once you've got the decompressed overlay (#74) is easy enough; do a text search in a hex editor for AXVJ. It'll find a small list of game IDs for the 3rd gen pokemon games in which you can replace all J's with the letter corresponding to your language and vice versa. Save and compress/insert the edited overlay and you're good to go. Any 4th gen game can be hacked to accept any third gen game in a similar manner. Hope this is useful to someone! A big thanks to Mewtwo2000 who originally showed me how to do this for D/P.
12. So I used pokemon Mystery Gift Editor to get the AR code for the event Ash's Pikachu. At first I selected for the select button to be the button trigger for Heart Gold. Nothing happened when I hooked up the AR with the game and pressed select. I tried it again with L and R as the triggers, and again for Diamond instead of Heart Gold, but still nothing. What do I do?
13. I've searched but I can't figure out how to edit my rival's name in these games. Does anyone know how or even an action replay code to do it? I want to change his name to Silver. If I upload save files that only differ in the rival's name, could anyone figure it out from there? Or, could someone guide me on how I could figure it out myself?
14. The list has been completed. Special thanks to Kaarosu, who translated some yet untranslated names for me. It seems that HG/SS start at 7E. 7D is Rock Peak Runes, a Platinum location. EB and onwards are all Mystery Zone, thus there ends the list. Please note that this is the value the 46h byte should be. The 47h byte has to be 00 if you use any of these locations and the location met should be FarAwayPlace (3002)
15. Which Starter Are You Going To Choose? Which starter from Pokemon HG/SS are you going to choose? _______________ I think I'm going to choose Cyndaquil this time. Before I choose Tododile, but I think I should give Cyndaquil a turn this time, but I do <3 Tododile. Mh. I'm going to have to debate on these two.
16. Did anyone ever make a HG/SS version of the following Bypass EV Limit code for Platinum? Bypass EV Limit 12096938 0000FFFF I've been working on a re-balance mod that tries to capture some of the "classic" feeling of Pokemon, but knowing and worrying about EVs kinda ruins the mood a bit. So I wanted players to have the option of simply training past the 510 limit, kinda like the old Stat Experience system....But can't find a code that only removes the limit instead of instantly raising every EV to 252/255. Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.
17. Heart Gold and Soul Silver are finally out in English. Discuss your major events while playing either game. If you need any help post it in our HGSS Help Thread. randomspot555 edit: ]For those that don't know what "Recent Happenings" are, this is the place to post literally what you're doing or planning to do in your copy of HG/SS. If you start discussing it, think about starting a thread.
18. Hello everyone. I'm new in the forums, but I have read some of your posts. Particulary I'm on a problem with something I've just noticed. I was playing my original HeartGold version after whole months of not playing, I started playing again to attempt training some IV'EV pokemons. I attached a lucky egg to a pokerus'ed lv. 25 shedinja after the EV training and I noticed that I wasn't obtaining an exp boost after each battle. I put the lucky egg to another pokemon (pokerus cured) lv. 78 Quagsire and the story was the same. Thought it could be a pokerus related issue, so I deposited the infected pokes and tried again, with same results. I had the idea to test if at least traded pokemon can get the boost exp and tested, they did and also put on them a Lucky Egg and they got the 2x boosted experiencie points (for being traded over my version and having a lucky egg held). Once more I put the LE on my usual pokemon and still didn't work. At this point I have to mention that neither I have access to Pokegen, nor to Action Replay, but I have used PokeCheck to search for close-to-legal or supposedly-legal pokemons, event pokemon and IV checking; the only 2 LE's I've got are from hunting down Chanseys via swarm. I don't know what is happening but I'm seriously thinking on throw away my lucky eggs and getting some new ones, these seems to have rotten I looked for any related post on Project Pokémon and it seems is new around here, as well I hope this post is on the right forum. Thank you in advance for reading and infinite thanks if you have the chance to reply. EDIT: New tests, it seems only in Pokémon BW you receive the legend "get a boosted", but not in HGSS. All right, you can close this topic. P.S.: English is not my native language, excuse me if it's not right written.
19. I want to make PKMN for my Japanese Soul Silver game, but I am not sure of what order the hex values need to be set for them. I want to know what the hex value set up and order for a PKMN I breed from an egg in SS looks like when making it in Pokesav so I can make it correctly and look legit. I want to make a few PKMN to use and I want them to look like I bread them in my SS game. So I need to know what hex values to use for it to look like the egg was received from the Daycare Couple, hatched somewhere in Kanto or Johto, and look legit. If someone can show me a picture of a HG/SS Pokesav party PKMN edit screen fully filled out for an example that would be awesome and I would appreciate it. If I confused anyone and they don't understand, please message me back and I can clarify. Thanks.
20. So we've been lucky enough as of late too see a few of the new Pokémon sprites in HeartGold and SoulSilver. I personally think that they look amazing. The Entei is a bit iffy, but the others look fantastic. What are your thoughts? Here are some examples:
21. Hello there! Fox here, I'm new, so you probably don't know this is a shared account with my brother, Dusk. I'm a girl, he's a guy. 22. This thread will serve as a place to share/store official artwork for the upcoming games, at least for now. I can't say the same for everybody, but I think collecting official artwork is not only entertaining but useful as well. This probably stems back to my banner-making and rendering days when I was always on the hunt for good-quality images to use. That said there will be some restrictions on what I'll allow in this topic. Obviously all artwork must be official art for the upcoming games; nothing fanmade please. Also, screenshots do not qualify as art; keep that in mind. Most importantly, any art you post should be of "usable" quality. For instance, I'm not looking for scans of the latest Ken Sugimori art out of CoroCoro. Discussion of the art itself is also permissible. More often than not the first time a piece of art is released it is of low quality (like the CoroCoro example). Feel free to make a note in this thread that it exists, but beyond that, just be patient. Usually this same piece will be reused by various websites, magazines, ect hundreds of times over. When all is said and done it's quite likely that there will be at least one good-quality version. That version is what we want, so always be on the lookout for quality images, even if it's something that may already be posted here. And of course don't be afraid to post such images if they are better than the ones here. What defines quality images? Obviously size is the biggest player. The higher the pixel dimensions the better. Be wary of images that are just blown up digitally though; these tend to lose much of the detail of the original. Another thing to watch for is the background, assuming the art itself does not have a background; images with solid color backgrounds can easily be clipped out of the surrounding junk in Photoshop and made into a transparent PNG for use in websites and banners. Images with some kind of complex background are OK to post here, but they will need to be rendered before they are really useful. The final thing to note is compression. Most images you'll find will be in JPEG format, which means the smaller the filesize (via compression), the lower the quality of the image. For an in-depth explanation and examples, see this Wikipedia article. Be careful to always save images as PNG, even if the original was a JPEG. Repeatedly saving as JPEG will reduce quality even further.
23. Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver Upgraded Trainers Summary In this hack I will update the levels of the trainers in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver. The levels are just too low, and this hack will hopefully improve the game a lot. Editing levels of wild pokemon has been schemed too, although finishing the trainers' levels is first priority. Polls Using polls, I will ask you some things about the hack. I ask you to give your opinions on subjects. Progress _________________________________________________ version 1.0. -Upgraded all trainers up to and including the Elite Four, so all of Johto can be played! -Some of Kanto has already been done, but not tested yet, so it is advised not to go to Kanto yet. -Again, Rematches haven't been done yet _________________________________________________ Version 0.3: - Upgraded all trainer levels up to Ilex Forest. - Rematches haven't been dealt with yet, but will be after E4 _________________________________________________ Questions and requests can be posted. 24. Okay so I was wondering if I needed to use the hex values to make a legit pokemon like on the platinum pokesav? If i do how do I do it on pokegen for heartgold/soulsilver? I don't see it at all like you would on Pokesav... So can anyone help me out?
25. ok im not sure if its been answered yet or not but ive scoured the internet to find and answer to the question "how do you patch the text in HG/SS with poketext" and have succeeded. its quite simple but i will post a quick explination of the before process. if you are not familiar with "thenewpoketext" program then you will need to download it and a new copy of "ndstool" and a pokemon HG/SS rom they will all need to be in the same folder. 1. open "thenewpoketext" it will appear in a command prompt screen 2. type in the file name for the rom ex: pkmnHG.nds (dont forget the .nds) but dont close the screen after you have done this a new folder should appear with tmp_ before the filename ex "tmp_pkmnHG" 3. open the folder and go to "root" then "a" then "0" then "2" and copy the file names "7" 4. go back to the "root" folder and go to the "msgdata" folder and paste it 5. rename the file "msg.narc" and go back to the window for "thenewpoketext" 6. type in "getall" without the "" and type in the name of the xml EX: "HGtxt.xml" (make sure you put ".xml") for this next part i use "programmers notepad" because it can handle the size of the file without lagging my computer but you can use notepad etc to do it as well. 7. now open the xml with your editor of choice, youll notice that the text is broken down into sections imbetween (file id="#" change="false") and (/file) 8. copy one of those sections that you want to translate, (I started with "(file id="0"") and translate it. 9. open a new document in your editor and paste the translation, but now at the very top of the page you will need to paste: (?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?) (Poketext version="1.0") at the top of it and change the "change="false"" to "change="true"" then at the bottom you need to put: (/Poketext) at the bottom of the document 10. save the file as an xml (for me since i used "(file id="0"" i named it "file0.xml") in the same folder as the "tmp_" folder 11. now patch it into the game back to the "thenewpoketext" screen type in patch and then the name of the xml file EX: patch file0.xml it will pop up with "parsing pokexml version 1.0" and under it will be the file number that was just patched EX: I patched (file id=1 parsing pokexml version 1.0 1 12. finaly to recompile the game or just to make a brand new .nds file type in mkrom and the the name for the file EX: mkrom pkmnHG2.nds and now you have a rom with the section that you translated hope this answered a lot of uestions people had/have. note: the board wot let me display the proper characters for the brackets so (=< when it comes to editing inside the XMls edit: i was mistaken on the process for reentering the translated text into the rom instead of just making a new xml file you have to export a single "file" xml using the "get" command so that you can import the new file the syntax for that is "get {id} {XMLname}" EX: get 0 import.xml
