  1. Well, it's nice to hear this is being attempted, at least. Question: A couple of people have said this could work with retail carts with the help of an Action Replay code to do what the ROM-hacking would accomplish. Is that likely to be true? Because buying an AR to continue using Pokecheck or what have you wouldn't be too bad, probably.
  2. Assuming egg names work like they do in previous generations, you should be able to nickname it with hacking- there were plenty of "named" eggs on Pokecheck, and if I recall they retained their names on being sent to a game. That being said, I have no idea if Datel's device allows you to modify eggs like that, or even if it lets you change a Pokemon's nickname.
  3. I just thought was weird, since I'd think they'd have to get a new seed from the time for encrypting trades, to make it harder to predict the next seed... so I thought it might give some insight into how the encryption works. But it looks like I don't know what I'm talking about. Just ignore me.
  4. So here's something interesting I've noticed regarding the 1.2 patch: Ever since I downloaded it, it seems the game's timestamp doesn't update as long as I have the PSS menu open, as it doesn't change when saving before trading after the first save. I'm entirely sure this wasn't the case before the patch, as I used to use the save screen to keep track of time while chain-wondertrading. It might be nothing, though. (I never bothered to get the 1.1 patch, so this might be related to that instead, but since that one didn't affect trading I doubt it.)
  5. That seems to be the case, though I'd recommend using Smeargles instead, since they can technically learn almost any attack legally- one less hack check to contend with that way. Though I suspect if Bank/Transporter's bothering to check for such things it'd bother to block invalid moves from the previous generation as well...
  6. I might be able to contribute a few, but it would really help if you gave us more detailed descriptions of your Pokemon, maybe even some drawings if you have them. Things like "large snake" and "boulder" aren't really very informative.
  7. I don't know much about ROM-editing, but assuming the palettes work the same way they do in any other type of image, it should be possible to create new colours to fill in blank entries in the palette. It's the same as changing any of the other colours, except that the ones you're changing aren't already being used. I don't see why this would work differently on a ROM, but hey, what do I know.
  8. Awesome! Thanks a lot. I'll be playing around with some BW sprites as soon as I find the time (and a ROM, but let's not talk about that!).
  9. Wouldn't it have made more sense to use a shade already on Wobbuffet's palette if it's already at 16 colours? But that aside, it's great that you figured out how to edit the image itself. I will await your how-to guide eagerly.
  10. Well, you guys don;t seem to have a rule regarding thread bumping, so I;m just going to assume this is okay... So, is that tutorial about messing with the sprites themselves, rather than just the pallets, going to be posted any time soon? I'm rather interested in it.
  11. I did some searching and this says it works for both 4th and 5th gen. Thanks for finding this!
  12. I wasn't able to get Ho-oh from the distro, but I;m fine with getting it from Pokecheck.
  13. Oh, I figured you;d be putting up the Victini only after you took down the Ho-oh... I'll keep trying, then.
