GTS trading from D/P/Pt to HG/SS

Hi all, seem to have a bit of a weird one and I'm wondering if this if something to do with my minimal progression through SS; basically I've put an Onix for trade on the GTS in SS, wanting a Growlithe of any gender/level in return. In Plat, I put a Growlithe for trade, wanting an Onix of any gender/level in return, but for some reason they don't see eachother either when I do a seek or just offer it. Is there any reason for this?

Perhaps not the answer you are looking for: Maybe you added the settings deferentially.

Answer:
You don't get Pokemon by depositing on both ends. If anything, you would want to have deposited your Onix asking for a Growlithe (or the other way). In your other game, you then have to search for your Onix very carefully on the GTS using the search feature. You probably want to include Gender and Level.
