K, it's as I guessed then... Then an easier route may be to generate a code for use with geckoOS that causes PBR to save unencrypted save...

And codemonkey, when you say that the pokemon are encrypted (and shuffled), is that on top of the PBR encryption?... (So many levels...)

Re: extract pkm file from battle revolution

Well, my theory was always that the Pokémon were stored the same exact way on PBR that they were on the NDS, but when I looked at the data on the Wiimote, I could not for the life of me locate or make sense of any Pokémon data. I figured at that point that the data was encrypted a second time by the Wii. I know that data stored on the Wiimote is usually not encrypted, so that makes me think it's PBR that encrypts the Pokémon. And then on top of that, the Wii save file itself is, as Poryhack said, also encrypted. So getting to that Pokémon data is, um... challenging.

The fact that they (Genius Sonority) encrypt save data in the NAND makes it quite likely they also do on the wiimote. Normal saves are not encrypted until they are transferred off the Wii (which can be circumvented easily enough, as I've already mentioned).

I wouldn't know where to start making codes either, so you're pretty much out of luck for now.

The easiest way I know is to use a USB Gecko, or some other PC to Wii attachment, and use its remote dubugger to find addresses... When combined with a USB Gecko, GeckoOS runs a PC Debugger has dumps the Wii's memory to your PC for view and searching...

Would an easier solution just be making the current Pearl .sav look like the old one to trick PBR into giving your Pokémon back? I really don't know if it'd be that easy or not. :P

Just to clarify, what we are trying to figure out how to do get some Pokemon out of a Pokemon Battle Revolution save file...
    One way or another...
Also, Pokemon battle Revolution does not trade pokemon or give them back to DS carts either... Therefore we are trying to determine how to extract the data to a usable form from a Pokemon Battle Revolution save file... (Or possibly some other file like the Wiimote data... Now that codemonkey put the idea in my head...)

I have an idea, if you use a AR code to change your Name, TID & SID To What They were before you lost your save and try to connect and get them back.

    Bananas!

Yeah, that's what I was thinking as well... with Pokesav or an AR. Surely PBR doesn't use anything beyond the trainer name, gender, ID and SID to recognize who's allowed to withdraw a stored Pokemon, right? It would be fairly easy to change that information on another save in order to fool PBR into sending the Pokemon you want back out. That's assuming you know what your secret ID was on that save, of course.

Didn't you see this? The Pokémon remain in your cart; they're just copied to PBR. So there's no need (or sense) in worrying about how to trick PBR into thinking you have the original cart in your DS.

Why clarify? That's what we've been talking about.

Well, here's an idea: I wrote a program a while back that extracts the memory contents of a Wii remote and dumps them to a binary file on the client PC via Bluetooth. Maybe we could compare what comes out to what we see on the Gecko remote debugger during the process of actually writing the data to the Wii remote in the first place? Then we could figure out where the data came from in memory, and... I'm not really sure what we'd do next, but it's a start?

Oh! You're on to something there! If we did that, we could find the encryption address(s) for the Wiimote! It'd be much easier to disable a function if we know where it's located...

    1. As long as you have a 2GB or less SD card and means to write on it not via the Wii (or bluetooth in a PC if we can figure out the Wiimote), the rest is free...

    2. No offense, but they might be a little bit much for you to buy. When I mentioned the USBGecko earlier, I meant that one or more of us who would be looking for addresses get one, because not only are they not for the average Wii user, they are also not massed produced and thus somewhat hard too get... (I'm still trying to get one...)

    3. In most possible cases, it would be as simple as loading GeckoOS on your Wii (very simple) and running a code in it... The code would change values in the Wii's memory like an action replay...

    4. I didn't think you sounded that way at all...

    5. You mean in D/P/Pt?... If the stats are different than what they would naturally be, the PC will always reset them...assuming that you are referring to the stat edit menu in Pokesav?...
