Who needs them?
Lugia. I've always perferred a wall that can do decent damage over something like Ho-oh. As much as I like ho-oh, the whole X4 weakness to rock bugs me. Stealth rock MURDERS Ho-oh, and ultimately it's not a "great" pokemon. Lugia acting as a major wall is definately useful for dishing out decent damage AND kicking up some status effects. Lugia FTW.
I like Ho-oh better. It was my very first legendary, so it has some sentimental meaning.

I'm not sure if this (and similar polls) is based on who would win against each other, who would win in a general audience, who is more funner, or which do we like more.

I actually liked Ho-oh a lot way back when I bought Gold, but I like Lugia a bit more... it just looks so cool now. xD

Lugia is better defennsively and can also do a heck of a lot of damge to opponents, also, it looks cooler
I had to go with Lugia on this one. Back in GSC it was the first bird I got. Ho-oH was Uber hard to get in Crystal and I couldn't get Gold =( Also, Lugia's Aeroblast was the best looking move back in Gen ll while Sacred Fire was meh =/
I've actually never liked Ho-Oh...Lugia looks much better and outclasses it IMO..and that x4 SR weakness is disgusting.

I admit that an Ancient Power Lugia will give a great deal of trouble for Ho=Oh, but i still like the phoenix more.

I voted that I need both but I do like Ho-oh a little better. The whole Phoenix angle with it being the guardian of Pokemon is cool to me. Lugia gets the vote for cooler looking hands down but Ho-oh has this air of being in charge and other Pokemon stop what they are doing he goes by.
I say Ho-oh is stronger then Lugia.
I choose Ho-oh. with the correct moveset it can account for each of it's weaknesses. However, in verses i would have to give the victory to Lugia. it's usually faster than Ho-oh(somehow) and as previously stated, ancient power would be pretty painful if not an OHKO. That said i still prefer Ho-oh over Lugia ^_^
