Re: Backup/Restore Your Retail Pokémon Save File

Since Hg/Ss will be coming out fairly soon to North America, I was wondering if which methods of save dumping were confirmed as workable for these games? I've gathered that Rudolph's WiFi tool doesn't work... does anyone know if his Slot-2 tool works with Hg/Ss?

Apparently EMS has come out with a new NDS Backup Adapter (Plus), that's stated right in the specs as being Hg/Ss compatible. I guess if all else fails, I'll just pick up one of these from Console Source.

I have been using the slot2 tool to backup my DP/P saves, but have run into an issue with HG/SS. After loading the hombrew from my slot2 card, I need to swap out the slot 1 cart with HG/SS. However, when I do this, my DS resets, although my retail carts of the other 3 versions work fine. Any tip for getting HG/SS to work correctly? Thanks.

Well, my slot-2 tool doesn't reset, but all the save backup and restore options are grayed out; and it can't even identify the game's save type. The IR cart Hg/Ss uses is just too different, unless someone updates Rudolph's tools.

The only way to backup the save is the NDS Backup Adapter Plus. I've ordered one myself this week... hopefully it'll get here by Friday or Monday. And apparently there are now 64-bit drivers for this device; at least according to the the forum at the EMS website. The 64-bit drivers are also listed on the download page, but just as "generic USB drivers" with a list of products they support (which includes the backup adapter).

I ordered one from the same site and received it 2 days ago. If you have any 64 bit version of windows refer to this site for drivers. http://hkems.proboards.com/index.cgi...ead=314&page=1

If not it should be pretty easy to install. It works really good for backups of all games. I definately prefer this over slot-2 and slot-1 methods.

Re: Backup/Restore Your Retail Pokémon Save File

God Im so desperate. I've tried almost everything to make the NDS Backup Wifi work. It just won't detect my FTP connection. On a 0.31fv Backup Tool, it detects an Access Point, but then it fails to connect to the FTP server. I even tried "Port Forwarding" and using SavReceiver/SavSender (another program) which also didn't work. Someone please help. I badly want my Diamond's .SAV

BTW, can someone direct me to a 3-in-1/2 slot tutorial? I havent tried that. I also want to know the requirements for the process. Thanks!

EDIT: I've made the tool version 0.31f connect to my FTP server. I couldn't make the 0.31 version connect though. I'm thinking it uses another .ini file. Also, in version 0.31f, when I try to backup my Diamond's save file, it would always say "data transfer failed. Please do again." and won't even start transferring the file. Anyone help please.

Wow... this seems like a LOT of effort.

Myself... I have an Action Replay DSi. I simply back-up my game. After copying it to my PC, I simply use Classic Offline Save Converter 2 to convert the "Action Replay DSi" format to a raw save. For those who prefer a simpler approach.

Can you please tell me where that is found?

There are actually other ways, some almost the same, and some not, to back up saves (from retail DPPt/HGSS/BW) now. Don't think they've been edited into the OP..

yeah, this is definitely due for either an update or a new thread. pokedoc's tool, sms4, nds adaptor, savsender, or rudolph's tools are all viable for dppt. the latter 2 don't work for hgss/bw, though, as the cart changed from ntr-005 to ntr-031, an infrared-backed cart.

I may make a new one, perhaps tomorrow. I'll have to do some quick research on the sms4 though (PM me if you can give me information such as where to buy it, specific details not listed here, etc).

If I may suggest, Pokedoc's tool might require a small troubleshooting section, as it's rather picky about which sort of flashcart and which version of savemanager you use. Took me a little while to get it work with the original R4 :x
