  1. Any of the starred walkthroughs at gamefaqs will tell you how to do this. Each one is different. I'm still tracking down Erika and Blue.
  2. I am making my first attempt at breeding (ever) and I have noticed that my experience does not meet my expectations, given the breeding guides that I have read online. I am playing Heart Gold. Specifically, I am referring to the Power {Item} method of passing down IVs. I am trying to breed a Horsea with 31 IVs in HP, Defense, and Sp. Defense. I have a Horsea with 31 IVs in HP and Defense and I have a second Horsea with 31 IVs in Sp. Defense and Speed. I give the first a Power Belt and the second a Power Band and leave them in the Day Care. So far, I have breed 10 Pokemon and 3 of them did not receive their Defense and Sp. Defense IVs. The guides that I have read indicate that the IVs are guaranteed to be passed down, but it does not happen every time. Just to make sure that I am not crazy, I made a Ditto with all 31s and shipped it over with sendpkm.py, equipped it with a Power Band and breed it with the first Horsea. The first pokemon that came out indicated a "Mischievous" characteristic, which would indicate to me that the first 31 IV in the hierarchy is Sp. Attack and the Power Belt was ignored (i.e., given the characteristic, I would expect that if HP, Att., or Def were 31, their characteristic would preempt the Sp Att characteristic). So, are the guides wrong that the IVs are guaranteed to be passed down?
  3. Those level balls are equivalent to Ultra balls on MewTwo (i.e., the best case capture bonus is x2)
  4. I had an awefull time catching Mewtwo in my Heart Gold game. My standard procedure is to paralyze and then get HP down to near invisible (easy to do by putting in a weak pokemon with quick attack or other high priority move) and then spam with the best balls in my bag. At the point that I caught him the first time, it took only 15 dusk balls. I was obsessing over IVs, so I caught him, escape roped, and then flew to a poke center to check his IVs--crap. I reset and tried again--I threw 60 dusk/ultra balls at him and he ran out of moves and thrashed himself to death. Load save again--exhaust balls again, thrash himself to death again. At that point, I was pissed. So, I loaded up my save and Master Balled the SOB. I took him back to the poke center and checked his IVs and nature--even worse than the first time. I was so disgusted that I decided to keep it. And it doesn't matter anyway, because the only Uber that I like to use is Palkia. I don't know why I fussed over the IVs and nature so much that day and waste 4 hours of my life. So, I no longer had a Master Ball to nail down the last runner - Latias. That one gave me a hell of a time too. I was going back and forth between two routes and I'm pretty sure she was avoiding me by constantly frequenting the routes around Mt. Silver. I finally pinned it down with my Gengar and threw about 40 Love balls + fast balls + ultra balls at it. I was starting to lose hope and tried out a timer ball on it and nailed it. Instant save after that That was another 2 hours of my life I can't get back.
  5. I am EV training Pokemon and then, after getting my EVs the way I want them, I drag my pokemon through the Elite Four to level them up. Now, I have run those cupcakes through the ringer a bunch of times and it is always the same... except today. Today, I walked into Indigo Plateau and, on my way to the E4 entrance, Apophis (the name I gave to my rival) accosted me, jonesing for a battle. So, I am thinking to myself that I have something special going on here until I actually get into the battle with him. He had the same team of pansies that he always has (level 50 somethings). So I wipe him out and think that maybe something cool will happen, like the the E4 will get tough. Nope. Nothing special. So, what triggered this event? Has anyone else encountered this?
  6. Since I am starting to get PMs asking for some of the older events, I am including the wondercards found in the following screenshot. I'm kind of new to the forums, but if there was a good reason to stop distributing these, or if this is a violation of the forums' rules, kindly let me know without getting all power-orgasm and pissing all over me. pokemon_events.tar.gz
  7. Yeah, that's a good point. I downloaded all of the 2007 and 2008 U.S. event Wondercards when they were available and have them safely stored in a zip file. If anyone wants these, let me know.
  8. @Imari: Not even close. If you want a fairly comprehensive list of Wonder Cards to date, check out these links: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/List_of_Nintendo_event_Pokémon_in_2007 http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/List_of_Nintendo_event_Pokémon_in_2008 http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/List_of_Nintendo_event_Pokémon_in_2009 http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/List_of_Nintendo_event_Pokémon_in_2010 It looks like this thread has events starting in 2009. Prior to that, you are on your own.
  9. There is nothing challenging about throwing a zillion balls at a Pokemon with a capture rate of 3. It doesn't take any skill to widdle the HP bar to 1 HP, inflict a status ailment, and then begin to hurl balls. I went through this mess tonight with Articuno and I was about to pull my hair out--29 dusk balls (I decided to cook supper; I threw a ball every time I walked by my DS until it was caught). Zapdos, under identical conditions (i.e., HP down to 1, paralysis), took 5 dusk balls. Just another example - after 3 encounters with Raikou I nabbed him with a Quick ball. 6 encounters caught me Entei with the same method (full health with paralysis). Clearly, it is a lottery, not some highly technical routine. Have I used my Master Ball yet? No. But I plan on using it. There's no reason to feel proud of not using it. I wish they put 5 Master Balls in the game.
