  1. Hi ProjectPokemon, I'd like to say Pokemon: Black and White are NOT untouchable, in fact, most of the files look like they're the same as HG/SS (for example, a/0/0/0 etc) although a few files have been added, and as you can imagine, many have been edited for the new things in B/W but the file structure looks pretty much the same. I haven't seen anyone actually decompress a B/W ROM yet (so I guess I'm the first w00t) so I thought I'd post this. It's not really a tutorial as much as a demonstration but here is a picture to prove my words : http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/6082/hni0001b.jpg (It's pretty big so you can clearly see it's been hacked/modified) In case your wondering it's just a simple hack - I hacked the game title on the boot screen to show what I talked about above. Also to prove this is in fact the Pokemon White ROM instead of something like DPPtHGSS with a modified icon and header, here is another image I took of my DS actually playing Pokemon White : http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/7622/hni0004df.jpg (An epic Picture of ZEKROM on the titlescreen - I love it!) The unfortunate part is BW has a really weird Anti-Piracy this time around. There is no lag, the game runs really great, but: 1) No Pokemon can gain experience (henceforth making it impossible to completely win the game with lvl 5 Pkmn alone) 2) Saving seemed to work until I tried loading the save, which didn't work too well Might've just been a setting of mine that was incorrect (There are editable settings in Wood R4) so I'm not 100% sure this is the AP's fault. But anyways, even the beginning gameplay was great. *insert-something-here-reader lol* - Project X
  2. I noticed something when uncompressing the ROM. Apparently PR3 (Tracks of Light btw) has a file structure unlike D/P/Pt/HG/SS. Yes, this is obvious because Nintendo tries to stump translators/hackers. From what I can tell based on the ROM's files only 8 files haven't changed: 1) Sound Data (Duh, I dunno any nintendo game that hasn't named their sound data *.sdat) 2) Utility.bin (Not sure if the encryption stayed the same, but the filename is the same) 3) Arm7, Arm9, Banner, Header, Overarm7, and Overarm9.bin And everything else has been compressed differently than before. Including the map data, which apparently has it's own folder now with all of the maps not in a single file like DPtHGSS had, instead they're all in there with their own files. There is also a completely new filetype (no longer *.NARC) but rather *.ACF other than the files I mentioned above. And finally, there are only 34 overlay files unlike DPtHGSS which had...lord...I think it was 100 overlays. Anyways I'm sure it was at least 75, so Nintendo's got a new encryption method. Even so I figured out the new title structure and was able to translate the text saying: "Pokemon Ranger Tracks of Light [made by] Nintendo". So...why make this thread? I was hoping we could analyze the filetypes to figure out some sorta way to translate it. I mean, even spinoffs deserve a translation (right?). Thank you for listening, Px
  3. I am not much more than a beginer at hacking, so i just used the banner.bin file located in [You're Folder]\banner.bin but remember to actually look at ur uncompressed folder's name (becas i dont know what you named it).
  4. hi i am doing a little pokethlon translation and i was able to do everything except for the top screen. i noticed the xml for the top screen text was 33 KB which is 12 more KB than most xmls in hg/ss. whenever i start poketext and put "patch pokethlon.xml" (without quotes) it gives me a traceback error. i was wondering if anyone knows how to edit files larger than 19 KB (which is the largest file i've seen poketext be able to place in msg.narc) thank you PX
  5. Hi ProjectPokemon, I have noticed many translation hacks and yet their translations are missing english banner informations. I don't think images are necessary but here is an example if you don't understand what I'm talking about: "Pokemon Heart Gold NDS Version Nintendo" So now you're translation(s) can look more official! I have only done Heart Gold so far so I don't have a Soul Silver file yet but tell me if I should upload one You just need a uncompressed Pokemon: Heart Gold Version ROM (not supplied because it would be illegal to distribute them), TheNEWPokeText (I think we all know where it is located), and the edited banner file (Click here to Download). Just replace the banner.bin file located in your "tmp_XYZ" folder (Note: Not actually "XYZ" but your ROM's name) and repack the files into your ROM and you're done. Remember to give credit to me if used Project X out
