Oh I have other reasons for the 3DS, that's a separate issue. I'm just concerned about the future is all...

I have recently gotten into Pokemon games quite a lot. I also want to buy a 3DS in June or so. I have followed the train-of-thought logic that future Pokemon games – perhaps even in the future – will be on the 3DS. The problem is – I have been deadest on the goal of the complete Pokedex, and am damn near close to it too. This means 649 Pokemon I have to maintain. I’m also very fond of the Pokesav/Pokegen programs – granted I do very little other than check IV/EV and tweak minor insignificant things, but the lack of access to those minor insignificant things will always bug me. I’ve come to the conclusion the 3DS will never be hacked. I was really young when the regular DS came out and I, not knowing much about the “internet” or “forums” didn’t know how long it took to hack and make flashcarts for it, but I know the 3DS hacking is taking a damn long time and have pessimistically decided the 3DS will never be hacked or emulated, meaning there can’t exist things like Pokesav/Pokegen. On top of that I’m having doubts about Action Replay availability for the 3DS as well. When the Pokemon games that come out on the 3DS do come out, I know that this is going to drive me absolutely nuts and and and and and and just AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH

Okay, I know it's bad to revive threads but after reading this xkcd strip I have decided to do so anyway. I have solved the problem! I found a folder close to where I was keeping my other Pokemon sav-related stuff (not in the same folder, about one to two folders away) and I found a strange number of weird save files and files named with distorted versions of desperate names I had given to the files I was trying to get Pokesav to export. After deleting the things in this folder, Pokesav now opens things normally again! ...though for now I might use Pokegen for the time being.

"This Pokemon has very few EVs for its level." That's because I started with a Bulbasaur and exploited Gen V's experience system + EXP share so it prolly only has at most 15 HP EVs or something from Audinos (this is an estimate) despite the fact it's a Venusaur now. It was purely for a Pokedex thing. In any case, I understand why the statement is there, but is there a way to make a distinction that it's still possible to be at its level without hacking? Since I don't want someone having a massive freakout if I trade with them.

For some reason I occasionally find Korean and Japanese (Chinese?) characters on my Pal Park -> Poke Transferred Pokemon. For instance I caught a Weedle in LeafGreen and named it Reeda. After Pal Parking it to SoulSilver and using Kazo's PokeTransfer.exe I found its name in Pokegen to be "Reeda\FFFF솜\0227\1805\0207". A Pikachu named Fid, gone through the same process, has as the name "Fid\FFFF穀\0228\C230\0227\1805\0207". It also doesn't end in \FFFF like the other Poke-Transferred Pokemon which is a bit weird.

Thanks for the great tip! Glad to know that someone had the same problem as me and somehow fixed it. Unfortunately I racked my entire file for .bak sav files and deleted them, and re-ripped it...no dice. Are you sure you don't remember anything else? (Also after reading this I'm so curious about this issue that I would welcome a necro five years from now to see if someone finds ground on this.)

All right...in that case I need to somehow get it to stop loading the stupid file, which I'd still like help with. But I still can't decipher Pokegen's escape sequences...

I've tried Pokegen and I can't use it. I'm still utterly confused on the escape sequences and all that - the interface is ridiculously non-user-friendly. In addition I'd occasionally like to edit my save too, not just my Pokemon. When I load my file into Pokegen it gives me what my game does, so I'm pretty sure now it's Pokesav loading cached files and not my save...

So I tried to import the Crown Dogs and Celebi via Pokesav into my Black file, and for some reason the game won't have those Pokemon show up in the box... ...so I tried to Action Replay the Pokemon in, but oddly enough while the game reads those, Pokesav doesn't recognize their existence and shows me "None" for the slots they're in... Also, Pokesav BW seems to be completely unable to export XML files or "save as" files under a new name, so is it just my copy of Pokesav? If so, what's wrong (because I tried both CloneCharizard's and the other version and neither are giving me anything, so it's not the specific .exe file). This is a problem as I later plan to import PKM files of my Gen IV Pokemon in and if I can't do this I'm screwed. I attached the wonky file in question. Importing it into Pokesav will not show the AR'd legendaries in Box 8, but loading it in the game will not show the legendaries I Pokesav'd in Box 1. I think it's loading a "cached" version of the file, because otherwise it would notice things when I change stuff around in my box, etc, and it didn't actually edit the save file I loaded into the game (or something). [edit] Confirmed it's loading a "cached" version, as I loaded one of my White saves into Pokesav and it for some reason loaded all my Black data which of course shouldn't happen. So now I need to know how to stop this. And, also, why Pokesav isn't saving anything. std-pokemonwhite&.sav

I've converted it, I've used Shunyweb, UniqueGeeks, NO$GBA to VBA and it's NOT WORKING - it keeps giving "wrong file type". What's dumb is that it DID work before, but for some reason I'm at a later stage in the game and it's not working now. Help?

The main issue here is that a lot of questions about this on the ‘net generally have suggestions involving Torterra or Infernape – and I have Empoleon. (Hey, I like water starters.) I have a Garchomp, Roserade, and Magmar accompanying me. Any more team suggestions (and move suggestions)? Tips on training quickly? (I’m spoiled by B/W and Audinos…) And I'm playing Platinum.

As I said in the initial post, I activated the event too.

Walk through everything and hacking in the ticket failed.
