Currently, I am training in the Sprout tower with my female Chikorita, Leaf, my female Mareep, Voltage, my male Bellsprout, Scout, and my female Pidgey, Rei. The females are all level 13, whereas Scout is level 12. :) I'm just trying to be well prepared for the upcoming gym battle. But knowingly I can't get too far ahead in my training because I have a level 1 Poochyena to send over from Diamond to attack EV train. She will be an epic Mightyena one day! :D

EDIT: Now finished with the gym leader, I am training my pokemon on the way to Azalea Town, each to level 14. ....I found a shiny Ratatta....and had no pokeballs by which to catch it. So instead I took a video recording and vented my frustration in it. That'll be available to the public as soon as it's finished loading to my PhotoBucket. I'll re-edit this then.

I just got Heart Gold and Soul Silver yesterday and I'm on route 33 now. My croconaw is at level 18 and is growing ever steadily. I just evolved my furret and oddly I'm very sad about that. I think sentret running behind you is way better then furret. My pidgey is a level 10 and I'm very impatiently training it. My caterpie is a level 8 (it was on the pokewalker so it hasn't evolved) and I'm still debating whether I should let it learn bug bite to have as a butterfree and then obtain sleep powder later. Of course, I still have no idea when later will come because I dont know where the move relearner is.

I recently hatched my togepi, quite excited about raising it, and my magby is in the process of growing. I think I'm going to be obsessing over obtaining apricorns for a while and until I can fly; I'm going to be running back and forth between trees.

Also, I think I have a very lucky starter. This is my first time playing through the game so I haven't restarted it to alter these stats, so they're just by luck. My croconaw has an adamant nature and is a female. What are the chances of that happening? Adamant will nicely compliment my starter of course it might be fail because I'm pretty sure the IVs are bad...but tis rare all the same.

I'm looking at all the pokemon in my PC and I want to train them all. I caught a wobbufett on a pokewalker course (was thrilled about that) and I really want the exp share cause some of these pokes are a pain to train at a steady pace.

Oh well, back to the game.

And yes, the first letter is capitalized and the rest are lower case, because that's how I roll.

Tauros sux was bred in Plat so he has Swords Dance, Crunch, Seed Bomb, and Iron Tail right away.

Mukuhawk has Aerial Ace, Return (which just DESTROYS EVERYTHING), Brave Bird, and Toxic (which helps in capturing stuff).

Wooper is being my flash/Rock Smash slave.

I heard a lot of bad things about Falkner's Pidgeotto using Roost. But fortunately, I got a BURN on it from Ember. Hells yeah.

I then went on to do the Arceus event and OH WOW HOLY SHIT THAT WAS AWESOME AND SO MY MIND IS BLOWN.

And I choose Giratina, because yknow, Origin form.

I'm slowly making my way through to the second town or whatever. I'm just taking my time.

I've made it to Azalea, beaten Team Rocket at the well, gone into the forest and done the Farfetch'd getting-thing and am on my way through the second gym. Have been taking my sweet time through everything...working with my team of four (Spike the Togepi is on my Pokewalker) towards leveling them to 18. At this point, I don't think the Poochyena will be able to catch up once I get her tranferred on!

I've finally made it to Goldenrod and I'm happy to be by the daycare. However, I know I'm going to be doubling back to investigate route 34 further, and get apricorns. Not to mention I want to catch a heracross and I know of a tree in Azalea town that has them. I was so happy that there was a headbutt tutor in Ilex forest.

I already tried to catch a heracross, but sadly, it killed itself after a long 20 minute battle with it. Blasted struggle robbed me of a powerful bug! I'm going to try again this time with a quick ball and ultra ball traded over from platinum. I'm very impatient when it comes to catching nonlegendaries, I was going to trade over an extra master ball but I decided it wasn't worth it.

I still want to add a hoppip, heracross, murkrow, and a mareep to the equasion. I have a lot of training ahead of me. I dont actually have heracross or murkrow yet but I'm coming for them! I still have a starmie and poliwag I want to train as well but I"m waiting for a water stone to show itself. When do you get eevee? I want that to be part of my team too! To many pokemons to train...

got it 2 days ago along wiht soulsilver but playing heartgold for now only got lugia figure though cause supply probs with nintendo and ebgames but so far beat the leauge and hedaing to cerulean cape got arceus event and spike pichu so far already lost the pokewalker:P

Holy cow you guys, how is the game even enjoyable going so fast? :P

As for me, I just beat Bugsy last night, everyone but Scout (lvl17) is level 18. It took me two tries to defeat him because his Scyther U-turn'd and destroyed everyone one-by-one. Perhaps I need to train up two more fighters and work with a team of six. I'm going to look into that today. I think Geodude is calling my name. :)

Edit: Captured a Geodude (Pebble, a female), who is now level 15, whereas everyone else is 18 except Rei at 19. Just made it to Goldenrod, although I'm going to trek back down towards Ilex so I can defeat the trainers I skipped over to get quickly to the Pokecenter. :)

Got Pebble up to level 18 to join the rest, just caught a Ponyta on the Pokewalker which will be renamed "Dash" as soon as I find the name changer guy...also found the elusive Ditto :D Wasn't even looking for one, and it popped up, so I caught it...will come in handy later on in the game. Anyone got a good name for it though, again for when I find the name rater? I haven't found anything I like.

I'm currently working my way through the GoldenRod gym, working all pokemon (my now team of six) to level 20. I was answering the questions to get my Radio Card and answered them without ouside help on my first try, not knowing the last two questions! I'm debating taking Spike from the pokewalker and replacing him with the ditto, although I'm not positive I will do this yet.

Ok, so far I have three badges and I'm just about to go get me a Sudowoodo :D.
Been spending loads of time on training, not so much EV training as in game I don't see much of a need and it's just effort lol... no pun intended there. I have a team of three (well four) so far (I like to get a new pokemon before every gym and whoop the gym with my new pokemon :p).

The plan was to kill whitney with Noctowl... Alas that wasn't to be so Misdreavus had to finish the job.
Contemplating on whether or not I should have Sudowoodo as part of the team or not. Also thinking of getting me a Pinsir too seeing as I'm in the area.

Just wondering what you guys do HM slave wise. I tend to train my team while I'm travelling and constantly revolve between having one in the box 5 in team and 1 HM slave in team. Is there a better method of doing this? It's not a problem atm as I don't have the full 6 in team yet.

For an HM slave, i'd suggest a psyduck for now or bibarel seeing as you have access to pearl.

been busy at work for the past couple hours though haven't advanced very far at all lol. Got my next badge so happy days. Just caught Pinsir that I said I would ... Though I came second in the contest which I have to say I'm majorly pissed at xD. Grown him 2 levels in the past 30 - 45 mins ... kinda slow but I'm looking to bulk my 'dex up. (caught 33 so far :D)... so he's grown levels merely because of the experience he's grown when he accidently kills the poke' he's trying to weaken.

I just beat the radio tower with my wimpy team. 7 badges. My pokemon are: Sudowoodo lvl 29, Red Gyarados lvl 33, Ampharos lvl31, Furret lvl 27, Bayleef lvl 28, a couple hm slaves and a Relaxed Shuckle with 110 defense at lvl 20. Awwww yeah. This game is surprisingly easy.

In other News, I CAUGHT A SHINY TAUROS!!! Sorry for the all caps but I'm pretty excited and it came way earlier than I expected. I was really tired last night so I was kind of fading in and out while doing my grinding, I had the sound on, So when I heard the shiny noise I thought "No way!" and perked up immediatly. It was in the patch of grass outside the safari zone gate and was at level 20. I tried catching it without attacking because my weakest pokemon was 15 levels above it and I was afraid of making it faint. I had my ampharos use thunder wave, but still no dice. So I switched to weepinbell and had it use vine whip which thankfully only reduced half it's HP, making it catchable.

So that's what I've been up to. It's been a while since I posted here, but after catching a shiny so early in the game I just had to share with you guys lol.

I was training for the elite four this morning and I was on the route before victory road. Well I was leveling up my furret and I decided to check the summary to see how much experience it would need to level up to level 40 in comparison to my ampharos. To my surprise, when I checked the summary my furret had POKERUS! When I checked the rest of my party they all had it as well!

So, I put all of my pokemon in the PC, except for my feraligatr, and took out other random pokemon that I didn't care about but I had caught along my journey, from either the pokewalker or the wild, and I spread the amazingly rare virus. Yes, now I have a whole box worth of pokerus infected pokemon on my Heartgold game.

My feraligatr spread the virus the most and by the time it was over she was a level 52! Then I grinded some of my other pokemon some more (ampharos and furret up to level 40 and heracross to level 43) and challenged the elite four guns blazing, and my pockets overflowing with items.

My level 40 umbreon handled the psychic type wonderfully with a few minor set backs but nothing hyper potions couldn't solve and a few sand attacks. By the time the psychic "master" was defeated my umbreon was a level 42.

Out of all the trainers in the elite four, the poison ninja gave me the most trouble and I nearly died because of that rotten double team on crobat. However, after the loss of ho-oh, ampharos, and furret my feraligatr finally managed to give me the win over him.

A few items later I was challenging the fighting type master. My HO-OH did a lot for that battle but eventually ampharos, feraligatr, and heracross had to pick up his slack after it was hit by a surpirse bullet punch at low health.

On to the leader of the dark types. Thank goodness for heracross :) it handled itself nicely in this battle. Of course, it had a little help from ampharos and HO-OH to defeat vileplume and gengar.

On to the champion! That dragon tamer didn't know what hit him when ampharos killed his gyarados (thank goodness for choice scarf!) and he trembled in his shoes at the sight of my feraligatr (aided by the muscle band from mommy :P. My feraligatr took care of the rest of the champion's pokemon, with waterfall and ice fang ripping through the dragon's nearly impenetrable wall of power.

Quite a fun journey it has been, its on to kanto after a maybe not so quick stop at the now open battle frontier.

Yea, I have a long way to go still even with the region of johto behind me.

Playing on NO$GBA wraith89? Playing it on my NDS, finished the game some days ago (16 badges, Ash beaten, got all accessible legendaries, e.g.) Did some pro Smogon setup battles with my friends on PBR, was fun. I guess nothing else to do than wait for the next generation games, hopefully they will have more zones like GSC/HGSS, perhaps all generation places in one game? Would pew pew.

I want to do as much training as possible before silver cave. Because TBH, PKMN trainer red's party scares me. I've never seen an NPC party that strong. I heard it's the highest in any pokemon game ever.

Once you see Steven and he tells you about Lati@s, then you should see him at Silph Co.

My update:

Spent about and hour plus doing the whole power plant deal, then when i tried walking up, i accidentally turned off my game.
a problem only for the NDS classic seeing as how the power button is just above the Dpad.
before you ask how I did something so dumb, I was playing in the dark. (or at least dim lighting)

I am massing coins at the Game Corner... so far I have around 800ish now. The Voltorb Flip is pretty fun... it stimulates your brain a bit, even if there are some luck required. Only 1400 more left for TM90, which I can teach to my new Mismagius!

I love the Voltorb Flip a lot more than the slot machines... only because I did have some problems with gambling being encouraged in a children's game... but what makes me upset is the lack of coin dealer. And TM13/24/35 are still 10,000 coins. Thanks Gamefreak. You really made my day -_-

As for the Pokemon... I bred Leafie the Meganium with a Sunflora to get Leech Seed... but it turns out the baby Chikorita also has Grasswhistle and Synthesis from breeding as well. Hmm... maybe I ought to try raising it to 44 to get Leaf Storm. How does that sound?

Kitsune the Ninetales... unfortunately had a go with Rudolph the Stantler... >.<
At least her babies will have Energy Ball and Hypnosis :/

I am STILL wondering why Ninetales was allowed to have Energy Ball as a hereditary move but denied the access of learning it as a TM. The only other case I know is TM29 on Psyduck/Golduck... but that was in Gen III and prior.

Cleaned up the Elite 4 for a second and third time, almost losing to Lance, though. Lance got tough really quickly.
On a side note, it's very easy to stall out Lance's dragonite. Snorlax+Houndoom with Flash Fire=stall city. Kinda fun for a while, but then it gets boring.

Right now I'm trying to get my shiny golbat and my togepi to evolve. Cycling road, here I come!

Mom never bought Choice Band for me... only Choice Scarf. I found Choice Specs at the Lake of Rage.
Anyhow, you don't have to be anywhere near Red's level to beat him. If your Pokemon have the advantage or whatnot, you can be at least 60ish and still take him down. Take a look at this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmZT_jQXOSs). Yes, it's me, but don't ask why I fail so badly, but hey I still managed to beat him :P

Note that this is the second time I'm fighting him. I never had the chance to record it when I was fighting him the first time, but rest assured, the team was the same and only 2-3 levels lower... and I tried to finish him off the same way I did the first time around...

I'm done catching all the Pokemon required from Sinnoh Sound for today. I can finally relax and go and train my new Buizel. Can you believe that it took 2 hours to find a Bidoof? No way!

I have 49 game hours yet I'm still at the part where I have to catch Lugia. With that much game time, I would have beaten the game already but I didn't.

I don't want to catch Lugia yet and for some reason I like concentrating on the optional challenges first specifically the Pokeathlon. I love it to bits.

In the Pokeathlon, I have 31 trophies collected with a title of "A Veteran Pokeathlete". Just 130 points away from getting myself the last Friendship Trophy. Got all the collective stuff (shoes, jersey, and the flag) in the Trust room. My best attempt was in the Skill Course with 588 Points; and I was using a team of Eevees for that course.

I'll be still working on the Pokealthete first before taking on the world (elite four and etc.) lol

First time I am writing on this thread, I was going to join before but I was too lazy and too into the game! I am playing Heart Gold, and I'm going for my second run through it, I cut my first run after I beat the first 8 gyms because I didn't really like my team, I wanted to start fresh. I have the 4 badges, and my team is:

Dratini (from winning 2100 at the Voltorb Flip game, took like 8 hours!)- lvl 26
Growlithe - lvl 26
Weepinbell - lvl 28
Pidgeotto - lvl 28
hm slaves sandshrew and totodile -lvl 6

My team is almost complete. Except I backtracked to the Union Cave to try and catch a Lapras! I missed it the first time, I accidentally killed it. Will it come back if I make the date Friday again? I really want to move forward with the team, I think this is a solid one I can keep with a final 5 of Pidgeot, Arcanine, Dragonite, Victreebel and Lapras! If anyone can help that'd be great! Also, does anyone have any breeding suggestions with the pokemon I have? It's kind of tough because the only female is my Weepinbell, but I can go find females of other things that I should breed with if necessary! I want to have a killer team and eventually beat Red, never had Pokemon in any game since the beginning above level 75, so it should be an interesting battle!

EDIT: I changed the date, bought some Net Balls, and went back down into the Union Cave and there she was (although it was a he, unfortunately.) Caught and beginning to train. Happy huntings folks!

Anyways, yes, Lapras comes EVERY Fridays, but next time, SAVE before you even talk to it, so if you accidentally KO it you can restart and try again.

If you don't have females, get a Ditto (it's in the route where the daycare is conveninently) and breed with your Pokemon until the baby egg you get is a female. Then you can properly breed. And welcome to Project Pokemon!

Haha, I went for a complete First Gen line-up this time, I've always been a biggest fan of Gen I Pokemon just because that's when I was younger and got addicted! I respect Feraligatr was a beast for me last play through, lead Pokemon and all I swear! :) and yes, I caught a Ditto when I was around the DayCare.. I don't know what I should really breed though, or if trying to breed my team is worth it for any of the moves? I don't really know too much about breeding as I've never got too involved in the breeding scene. I always read forums all the time, and follow other peoples leads. I really liked this forum the most and decided to join! I respect the diehards and wish I had as much knowledge about training and all that, so if you guys (and girls!) have any tips or pointers, I would love to hear and learn as much as I could, and offer help if there's anything I could help with!

Hi,

At this point of the game, I think the best HM slave would be Wooper/Quagsire, He can learn 5 of the 8 HMs. He can help you with battles as well thanks to his good typing.
You can breed Lapras with Dratini to get Dragon Dance on Lapras, but I think the moves Lapras learns by leveling up, TMs and tutoring are powerful enough.

One cool breeding experiment you can try early in the game, is to get Nasty Plot on Togepi, assuming you've received a female Togepi from Elm. But Most importantly you need the National Dex.

So here are the steps :

1)After getting the radio card at Goldenrod City, you can switch to the top left station on Wednesday to listen to the Hoenn sound

2) Now you can find Plusle/Minun who can learn Nasty Plot and breed with Togepi. You can find them in Route 33 for example, which is between Azalea town and Union cave.

3) Level up Plusle/Minun to lvl 51 so it can learn Nasty Plot.

4) Breed Plusle/Minun with Togepi and the baby Togepi will get Nasty Plot, but not extrasensory. If I'm correct, you can't have a Togepi with both these moves anyway.

Super effective moves won't really be necessary on Pikachu. It'll get OHKOd by almost anything, if not 2HKOd.

This'll take a while but a way you could solve all of your problems would be to get the Riolu off of Riley (I think it's him) in platinum, trade it over to HG/SS, Slap the EXP share on it and go through the pokemon league like 8million times and give it close combat and earthquake (if it doesnt get earthquake .. I'm not sure, then throw on bone rush, it's in game so who cares right .. plus it's a cool move) and then that is the snorlax and pikachu both solved. Similarly you could get the Tyrogue from that guy in the mountain (oh yes I'm feeling descriptive today) evolve it into any hitmon you want - again close combat + earthquake job done :D :D

You really don't need to trade. You can still beat him with in-game Pokemon. Tyranitar will be helpful though, for not only can it beat Pikachu, Snorlax and Charizard and possibly Lapras, but the Hail changes to a Sandstorm.

I don't remember when I got a star on my trainer card. I think it's from beating the high score for each of the 10 events.

Pre-order both HeartGold and SoulSilver one month before release date and picked them up the morning of release (gave SoulSivler to my friend). Pretty much finished with the game, with the exception of completing the Pokedex. Now, I'm rebattling all Gym Leaders except Blue. My Feraligatr is on Lv.93 while at the same time exp.sharing my other starters Charmander (done), Bulbasaur (done), & Mudkip. Did the Arceus event, the Jirachi event, & the Shiny Pichu event. Transferred all legendaries inaccesible in HeartGold except of Groudon and Celebi. Since I have Diamond & Platinum, I can complete HeartGold Pokedex in no time since both Diamond & Platinum Pokedex are 7/8 finished.

EDIT: Acquired Blue's phone number, took between five to six days to get it. Feraligatr is now on Lv.100. Currently at Battle Frontier. Already beat Battle Arcade once...

I just caught Ho-oh on my brother's HeartGold. That thing was really difficult to catch.
Note: For the rest of you try getting a Flash Fire Houndour since Ho-oh cannot touch you in ANY way, shape or form with one.

This was my third attempt catching it. First I used a Pokeball for fun, then 2 Ultras, then the last one being Dusk Ball... and finally caught it. Since Feraligatr's Surf didn't do so much in this one and that Ho-oh was actually faster, I knew its stats would be promising...

Your rival battles you before the E4 every Monday and Wednesday if I remember correctly...

It may have been a month since I have touched this game... but I finally decided to train that Mewtwo... and the league got him up from level 70 to level 74. Now to fight Red with him. Onwards!

I'm using Action Replay on my Soul Silver because in the first two weeks without codes I had it I beat the FULL game (Kanto region too). I'm also going all out Wi-fi. Same on Pearl and Platinum. :D Loved the Arceus, Celebi, and Shiny Pichu events.

Well well, I managed to beat Clair at my Heart Gold game. Mostly, Clair gives me a lot of trouble (unlike the other Gymleaders), but this time it was fairly simple! :) I gave my Dragonair Nevermeltice to hold, to beat Clair's with Ice beam, and it went very well. I could beat Gyarados with Thunderbolt, so that was quite easy, too. What surprised me, was that my Dragonair survived the Dragon Pulse of Kingdra, so that she could paralyse the sea horse. I switched to Tropius and thus switched in on Hydro Pump. ^^ Pretty lucky! After two Dragon Dances Tropius OKHO'd Kingdra with Fly, landing on a crucial spot, as it seemed (it was a critical hit). It never went so quickly and easy, Kingdra usually is very problematic...

been playing for 3 days. Got to the E4 on the secound day. Been having trouble with the victory road and Clair. Took me 2 hours past the road. kept taking the wrong path. Getting to Clair is no big deal. Problems: Crobat, Umbrion and Clair. Easy to beat gyarados, he sends out aerodactyl. I die.
