Im up for it ......but i dont think many people would like my participation XD. Besides, this community isnt of the competitive kind, its more fun based and thats the way i like it. Sure if the Admins agreed to it i wont have any problems what so ever, though my participation would still be upto them.

I think few people will actually join, though it could be fun if it is set up properly. Our last tournament... crashed and burned

SCV is planning an official ProjectPokemon Shoddy tournament to be held sometime soon. We haven't completely planned it out yet, so please wait until further details are announced.

Any chance of getting a tournament for DS players organized as well? I'd much prefer to use the DS than Shoddy.

I'll be up for the official one when it gets worked out.

Having a tournament through wi-fi is also something we have in mind. But its much harder to keep track of progress. We'll need to figure out a good way to try to keep track of things.

From experience in running those, there's really no way to "keep track" of it. It's just you take people at their word. The best the organizer can do is to set strict guidelines before the tournament starts so everyone knows what they're getting into.

The Wi-Fi Tournament I attempted to run a while back had about 6-7 participants, and no one outside of Varna (my opponent) told me the status of their assigned battles.

But it's been a few weeks, PP is bigger. Maybe Shoddy or Wi-Fi battlers here can handle a tournament this time around.

Well my idea (not sure if I came up with it or not, but its what's in my head) was to have people submit their video using the battle recorder. And give us the id for the video.

The wi-fi tournament would have 8 people. For both of these I would like the final to happen on October 6th or somewhere close to that.
For the Shoddy one we are thinking of a minimum of 16 people and hopefully 32 and for the wi-fi one probably just 8 or if we get enough 16.

For the wi-fi one people must use 100 % legit teams as the VS recorder rejects some cheated teams. If someone would have a team rejected they would be disqualified.

AS long as the video ID #s aren't posted publicly, so that the players who advance can keep their teams a secret from future opponents within toue tournament.

As for Wi-Fi and legality, I think the best is to leave it up to the players. While I am a legit Wi-Fi battler, I could care less if the Battle Recorder rejects an opponent's Pokemon because it's from Faraway Place. As long as the IVs, EVs, ability, nature, and move set are legal, everything else is fine with me.

Well the video ID, could probably go to just me. That way I can review the battles. I don't battle at all so me seeing the teams is nothing to worry about.

The point of using the VS recorder was to be able to have evidence that the match took place and a record of what happened. I would not like the unfortunate event of someone losing and then denying that they lost.

P.S. are videos rejected if the pokemon was from a far away place? If so that can be problematic to this idea.

I honestly have no idea what the Battle Recorder checks for.

The only place I've battled, besides random battles on PBR/through chat rooms at Serebii and Gamefaqs, is over at Something Awful. There's rarely a problem with accusations of cheating or what not, and those tournaments get about 30 or so people each time.

I think the less rules we start with, the better. And if some problems happen for the Wi-Fi battlers, then we play it by ear for the first tournament, and we know what to do for the future ones.

Doesn't anyone think we might want to start with a Shoddy tournament? Firstly it would let us get an overview how many people are actually interested, because theres no point planning a wifi tournament if we can't even get a Shoddy one. From there, put up a poll about the wifi tournament asking if people would be interested, to see if you could get even 8 people. Once all thats done the wifi tournament can start.

A shoddy tournament would be much easier to work out and to record everything.
